มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I gave up a great model room when we moved last year. What I have been using has been, well, not ideal. In this video, I show how I finally built my new model studio with way more lighting and storage than ever before! A special thanks to Flexispot for helping me upgrade my Video Production Studio! I can't get over how nice my new standing desk is. I love my new space. Check out www.flexispot.c...

A family vacation on the East Coast allowed me to visit the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had a blast visiting the museum and admiring the massive collection of models in the gift shop. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend going. How to Paint 3D Printed Aircraft Engines
มุมมอง 42K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
3D Printing has never been better and I believe we are only seeing the start of great things to come. I picked up this 48th-scale gem of an R-2800 at a recent model show and I am floored by the detail. In this video, I will show you how you can paint these engines and enjoy all of the detail they have to offer. Supplies used: Tamiya LP-11 Gloss Aluminum Mr Color Aqueous H-56 Intermediate Blue T...
Painting a late war Corsair

Everything was progressing well with the Okinawa Corsair build until I experimented with a new paint and a new paint-scratching technique. And boy did I fail! However, this failure allowed me to fix some issues with the model, try some other finishing techniques and save the build. Can a $3 paint panel be made into an attractive model base?
มุมมอง 2.9K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
A nice model base frames and provides context for your model. A great start can be had for as little as three dollars and some inexpensive supplies! This was a fun project and I took a risk with static grass to kick it up a notch. In a previous video, I used a LONGER RAY5 laser to make the information 'plate' on this base. Very easy to do. This laser engraver makes sharp model bases
มุมมอง 1.4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
LONGER recently gave me a RAY5 5W laser engraver and cutting machine to try out. I'll be honest: I was completely new to laser engraving and cutting. But within a day I was confidently printing my very own model base for my Okinawa Corsair project. So, I've got to hand it to LONGER: If this newbie can make something decent, then anyone can do it, and do it quickly! To see and buy the RAY5, clic...
Is the Magic Factory Corsair better than Tamiya? Let's compare and find out!
มุมมอง 56Kปีที่แล้ว
I've been asking for a new 48th scale Corsair for years. Don't get me wrong, the Tamiya kit is excellent, but it has a few build issues and could use a refresh. In this video I compare the mid 1990s Tamiya Corsair with the band new Magic Factory kit. Who is going to come out on top? How contests will improve your models and your hobby enjoyment.
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Most modelers will never enter contests or go to shows. But they are missing out. The show is a great place to get tips, get ideas and maybe a cheap kit or two. Most importantly, these are places where like minded people congregate - so take advantage! You won't regret it. Hesitating on entering the contest? Yeah, I get it. But contest building will improve your skills and your models. Join me ...
Build a working jet engine model
มุมมอง 3.8Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I am building the 'RT900' engine kit. This is a 3d printed kit for a 'cut-away' model. And the best part is that it is also a working model complete with an electric motor! As you will see, this model can be built in an evening (or two), making for an excellent desk or shelf model for the office or den. Special thanks to the video sponsor #stirlingkit If you want your own engine ...
The Best and Worst ways to move scale models

cool!
Why is it turning the wrong direction?
Thank you for your support of our products and website!
That’s great I’ll have to try that next time if I remember it
Do you have a recipe for using the windex? I've never heard of it, but I love the look of the flat coat!
These kits are so cool. I have always wanted to do this kit, someday I will just pony up the cash. It is expensive.
I want one!
I am one of those grease monkeys you mentioned. I've worked on piston engines, turboprops, pure jets, low and high bypass turbofans...
Neato. Thanks for sharing it.
Very cool, awesome kit 👍

Thank you a lot! Very clear explanation.
ANY space is better than no space. I have no space rn:((((
Thanks for the content and congrats on 10K!
Ok now that’s pretty cool!
Engine looks pretty awesome, just wish it was a little cheaper. Thanks for posting.
I share this sentiment. Amazon has a scale v8 engine that actually runs with gasoline (for RC cars) and its 80 bucks, and 160 if you want to add a supercharger. 400 bucks for an electric turning one is a little wild.

Very cool project. Pratt and Whitney R-2800 would be nice.
Building the engines and putting them back in the box is a great idea. I’m going to do that myself.

Love the video. Thanks. :)
Nice! The jet engines look cool too.
Seriously that’s based ass
Outstanding technique. I Will try
FINALLY! Someone Who is showing the modeling community that a model Stuffed with Green Stuff putty is NOT the way to Go! Using Sheet Plastic or The Sprue trees whittled down and cut glued into place! To Fill a Gap… In addition for myself personally I use Superglue or automotive Bondo…..Bondo unlike putty Will not shrink …But as it sets you have to “shape” it into place… If your into Putty and all that Sanding Great! Oh yeah, as you Glue parts together do so in Small sections and make sure you get a Good Glue Bead that comes out of the seam in the first place…. That my Friends will Eliminate Any Need to fill anything!!! Blessings Darrell USA

I’m building the old Testors kit now and am going to give some of your techniques a try. Thanks for sharing.
Been using this method for years. Glad to see the younger generation carrying on. Got ya subbed.
funny. the black bird isn't black in real life. It's blue.
Can't understand why people use their airbrush for small parts. Properly thinned paint is fine and won't obscure the detail.
Nice spot. Is there a bathroom close? That is going to be one of my next area's prerequisite. 😂😂
I wish!
Congrats , Very nice
Great looking space, ...for now. Modelling spaces need to be busting at the seams with model kit stashes, paints, spray booths and airbrushes, cleaners and glues, and tools that pile on on all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
That's an incredible space.

I reside in a nursing facility. I'm 72, and it's great for me. Zero responsibilies and the have a hobby/activities room that spacious for the build. I had just purchased a Revell 1/48 scale Corsair with a set of paints and brushes. I left them unattended (and uncovered) for a couple of hours and I came back and boom, they were GONE! Someone apparently wanted them and unless they were going to build it, I don't know what for. Oh well, lesson learned I guess.
I am very sorry to read this. I hope you have another model to work on. I guess you need to keep things under lock and key!
Oh man. Decades of scale modelling and I'm still learning. Wet (!) Q-Tip! That's great, thank's a lot from Germany.😊
Thumbnail: Black without using black paint. First step: spraying with black paint. Seriously?! 🙄
Hi there - thanks for the comment. Did you watch the entire video?
Q: Just finished covering the pre marbling effect with base color on my F15. Surface came out a bit rough. What grit should I use to smooth it out without damaging the paint job ?
I wouldn't do anything stronger than 2000 and I would probably start with 3000 grit
Tomorrow (and today is Oct. 29, 2024) I'm going to purchase a 1/48 scale Corsair from Hobby Lobby that's on a special sale. It will be my first airplane assembly in over 50 years, as I just turned 72. This means I also need paints and an assembly tools, as well as as a "self healing" cutting board, which they didn't have back in the '60's. My next build will be the AMT 1966 version of the Batmobile, which I understand was a highly customized Lincoln car. Wish me luck!
does this model kit of the sr 71 come with landing gear and wheels? as i would like to make this kit sitting on its wheels, that is if the kit comes with wheels. Thanks Richard
@@richardkrotec1440 yes, it comes with wheels and gear
I had this with all five sub vehicles, but I think it had only the jet not the single engine lane
