This kit beat me but I got some new weathering and painting skills.

Wow, this looks amazing. You are the only person I’ve seen build this X-20 kit, one of my favorite subjects. I’ve had the same exact issues.
Currently it also sits in my “Box of Shame” 😂 and you have now begrudgingly motivated me to continue it. Your end result certainly doesn’t reveal how challenging the build is! I’m going to need some fresh sanding sticks 😬 Subscribed.

Beautiful results all things considered. I am glad you stuck with it.

Great job. Building models like this separates the modelers from the assemblers.

Great demonstration of perseverance! If you learn something every time a kit kicks your ass, i must be the smartest guy on the planet!

I'd never throw a kit away, I've had rough builds I just build them work the problems, might take some time but I do it.

That was a cool idea to paint the transparent 'Earth' from the inside. I'm going to have to keep my eye open next Christmas when dollar stores sometimes stock clear plastic 'ball' ornaments that can be lopped to form 1/2 (or smaller) sphere slices and use them to make Earth (or other planet!) surfaces to be used as bases.
And the model itself didn't turn out all that bad.

Sow's ear + Effort (Imagination) = Silk Purse. Nice work, CM. The globe turned out great.

Hmmm I see Where something I use would have come in handy, Microscale industries , Micro Krystal Klear.. makes excellent windows especially smaller one in 1/72 when it dries perfectly clear windows. perfect for lost windows or when kit parts don't fit. Excellent work on the Globe stand .. Looked like the real thing , only smaller ;)

Okay, batting 1000; real Dyna-Soar didn't fly, model Dyna-soar didn't fly. 😁 I've pondered doing similar with a stand which is similarly clear with and Earth pattern but didn't have the thought to work on the reverse side. Will have to try that on some future project.
