My favorite fact about Unleashed is the fact the Wii version is rated *higher* than the 360 version. You'd think the HD version would get all the praise and high scores, but no! UnWiished has 6s and 7s across the board. Minus Nintendo World Report which had to give UnWiished a 4 all because of the Werehog and... the story? The hell? Not the last thing I'd complain about, that's for sure. But no, seriously, the story is one of their cons with the game. Not the Wiimote + Nunchuck gameplay which *can* and *will* get tiring after a while, the *story!* One of the bigger praises Unleashed gets next to literally everything else from the HD version. Talk about pathetic...

Elden Ring may not work for me personally but this video did a damn good job trying to convince me otherwise!

I just replayed both recently and I honestly still prefer the Wii version over the PS3 version. The PS3 version just feels more finicky and glitchy and has way more beginners' traps and obsession with pitfalls. Screw Empire City, that entire area pisses me off. And the platforming in the PS3 version feels a bit more finicky because everything feels more floaty and less responsive. Sonic doesn't stop in the area like you want and hitting the stomp doesn't even lock you straight down like on Wii. And the same seems to translate into the werehog. The werehog also has the weird feeling arch he has when jumping off climbable objects. It just never feels safe when he does it.

This was my first contact with Sonic Unleashed. Well... kinda, actually my first contact with Sonic Unleashed was with the PS2 version in 2010, here in Brazil consoles like PS3, Xbox 360 and even the Wii were stupidly expensive at the time so the PS2 became a gateway to those who wanted a console but couldn't afford so much, that's why I'm very grateful to Sega for releasing Sonic Unleashed on the PS2, years later I was able to see the Wii version and play the PS3 version, but still I keep the PS2 version fondly. I love this version, even though it's not as complex or complete as the HD version, I love the design of the day stages and I honestly think the night stages are better in this version than the HD version especially because they don't last as long as the HD version. (and not have so much framerate drop) I know it's almost impossible, but I hope the Wii/PS2 version is re-released someday, even if it's in the Playstation Plus classics catalogue, I honestly think it deserves as much recognition as the HD version.

I’m one of the only people that actually enjoyed this game despite of it’s problems. My favorite things about this game is the fact that I can play it on the go on Nintendo Switch, has mod support on PC and it also has a customization system which was fun to use.

Kinda tired of even having to point this out, but not including any of the DS content in Sonic Colors “Ultimate” means that the game is missing the better half of content from the original release. and even just talking about the Wii game, even though I think Ultimate does actually look better, I’d still never recommend that version, because the game just feels way better with a Wii remote + nunchuck than a standard controller.

Sonic Frontiers is a weird game. Its simultaneously REALLY GOOD and REALLY BAD. There are some really lame aspects of it, especially given how janky it can be sometimes, but the overall concept is really good. The execution is pretty good too, but it could be better.

The custom characters would be a lot better if _every combination_ didn't look dumb in some way. The head shapes look unnaturally small (the hedgehog species is a good example... compared to even Classic Sonic the spines are shrimpy).

Werehog Sonic is super underrated. Yes, its weird. But the stretchy arms combined with his unorthodox fighting style allows him to do a lot of surprisingly cool things that you wouldn't get anywhere else. I also like how Dark Gaia's power corrupts everyone it touches, making them miserable and negative... meanwhile it barely effects Sonic at all. It just goes to further show the strength of Sonic's character.

The fact that the graphics of Sonic Unleashed are on par (and in a lot of times, better... especially in the cutscenes) then most of the games after it is really impressive and also a little sad.

It bothers me when people call the 360/PS3 version the "HD version". The game runs at 880x720, which is anamorphic 720p, not actual HD. I do what ExoParadigmGamer did and call it the "7th gen version" and Wii/PS2 the "6th gen version".

This game os very cool. I got stuck mid game when I was younger and like this summer I picked up the game and Finally beat it. It felt really to re experience this game, and finally beating it

Tbh it gets insanely old hearing Sonic talk about how awesome friendship is. Like, the games are about running fast and destroying robots. I get that it feels good to slap a self-congratulatory narrative on these things but we don't learn anything about real friendship from Sonic the Hedgehog any more than we learn engineering from a coloring book. These games are tests of your hand-eye coordination and problem solving, not your courage or kindness. The Sonic movie can get away with reinforcing friendship as a virtue because what Sonic does in those movies is forge friendships and kick ass. In the games he attacks robots, boosts, and taunts Dr Eggman. Friendship is just a bumper sticker on the back of this series's sports car, an inorganic inclusion that has nothing to do with what it's affixed to. Even worse, Sonic often uses the fact that he has friends as a weapon to taunt people who don't have any. Many of his foes start off as confused dupes of Dr Eggman or other scheming intellects, who prey on their friendless nature. Sonic insults these people offhandedly until he's beaten them to a point where they abandon their old ways and adopt his point of view. His immediate impulse is reactionary bullying, generally on the assumption that the person opposing him has no friends and doesn't deserve any. He is portrayed as always defending himself or others, but his methods rarely differ from those of his opponents. He is as cruel with his words as the game's designers are comfortable with, and though he resorts to violence as a last measure he conventionally ALWAYS finds himself put into situations where he can enact the kind of violence he finds cathartic. This ignores the fact that Sonic is handed every victory canonically. He never has to change his mind unless the story demands it. Everyone else is always wrong and he is always right. This reinforces the notion that a proper protagonist is "good" simply by virtue of being themselves, rather than ever standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and doing the wrong thing. Sonic as a series is an ultimately shallow exploration of what friendship could possibly mean. People are only good when they are on your side, and everything you do is always right. What a terrible message to constantly send kids.

Sonic Unleashed is my favorite game of all time, and heck. I'm a speedrunner of it. But I'd still say most day Levels are designed sorta poorly :<

This game was my childhood other than bo1 and bo2 along with call of duty, advanced warfare, but if any of those games got toxic I would hop straight on sonic colors.

I prefer the SD version lol

I played the ps2 version first, then played the wii version when I didn't have access to my ps2, then when i got access again, I resumed playing it on my ps2. apparently there are noticeable graphical differences between the wii and ps2 version, but I never noticed it. I just used the ps2 verison because that is what I grew up with, but maybe I should try the wii version again to see the difference

Sonic Colors Ultimate is a PERFECT REMASTER imo well why it’s because of the big changes they made like the glowing effects and replaced the life’s with tails save so yes it’s a good remaster and I find the game fun to play.

Even though the HD version is undebatable-ly better than the SD version in most aspects, I still very much respect the SD version and the people who prefer it.

Because it's made by passionate long-time fans of the series. Ones that have a general *IDEA* on knowing what to deliver to restore hope in the franchise for fans who've been growing cynical of SEGA for having Sonic Team rushing out games and limiting their potential with their stupid mandates. Yes, I know I sound like one of those aforementioned fans, but when you're hit with mediocrity after mediocrity for so long, it does stuff to you, man. For the past few years, I was convinced the only quality Sonic content to expect were from fan projects and the movies. However, as of last year, I've slowly become less obnoxious about my views on SEGA handling the franchise as, while I'm absolutely terrible at the game and haven't even reached the first boss yet, I'm happy for those enjoying Frontiers, and Superstars is looking very promising with having the classic physics intact and some amazing deep-cut fanservice with bringing back characters not seen for more than 20 years.

I think it's just an okay remaster because sure it has it's cons but it also has it's pros to making it just an okay remaster for me.

I played this version for the first time last year on dolphin and i was really surprised by how good it is was and even found myself getting addicted to the daytime stages the game has a few cool mods that make it even better like a 60 fps patch and a texture swap that makes the game more aesthetically like the HD version

A lot of this is why I love hd night stages, but why I wish unwiished is so cool

Wii version was my favorite. eggmanland was amazing on the wii. I also loved how it didnt mix day/night stages, you played a whole level as regular then a whole level as werehog. none of that stop mid leve lto turn werehog nonsense.
