Yes to the walking!!! You have inspired me and I was planning on doing that next year as well. I’ve been trying to walk 3 miles a day, starting last Monday, to prepare myself!
I'm so glad you mentioned you go back and read the comments from previous days. It has been chaotic for me this year and so I'm behind on Vlogmas, and this is one of my favourite things of this time of year!! I would love to do 1000 mile next year! We're going to be training for the London Marathon and would love to keep the motivation to keep going after that. Thank you so much for the videos, you and your family are so lovely!
That funny angel story reminded me of something from when I used to dance ballet as a teenager. In our Christmas show one year I was one of the dancers that brought a small christmas tree on stage and decorated it as part of the show, and at the end of the dance we would put an angel on the top of the tree. Well after one show we discovered that somehow the angel had lost its head and none of us had noticed, and it had gone onstage headless!! We had a good laugh about it
A walk-along would be fun and maybe just what I need to get moving! This was a great video, I was laughing out loud more than once. Watching your videos is like being with a good friend! You are a true delight!
Yes! Let’s do a walk along! Ali, you are my very favorite vlogmas (and favorite TH-cam channels)-I have been watching both of your channels for years! I have also found other channels that I love based on your recommendations. My daughter is a year younger than Phoebe (with many of the same interests including loving a makeup advent as well) and has always loved when she makes an appearance and we watch together.
I love the Q &A episodes you do Ali and we always get a laugh or two! Lovely to see your girls today even if Peggy Sue is not at her finest! I would love a virtual walk with you anytime xx
Thank you Ali. I enjoy all you videos very much. A walk along sounds like a really good idea. Maybe we can have some bonus cheating points ... as in dancing counts so double miles for dancing miles during strictly season 😂
Literally LOL'd at 😂🤣😂 -the switching miles to km as your walking goal for 2024! -the deconstructed angel oarts hidden in the tree! Omgosh so funny! Great episode! Thank you!
I LOVED THIS ONE, Allie!!!!! You are so entertaining. That other commenter is correct. Your podcasts are gentle, soothing, and relaxing. Thank you and Happy Christmas to you and your family.
I love the idea of a walk along next year. I have kept track of my walking this year (I do my calculations in a very unusual, unconventional way) and I’m going to have over 600 miles this year. Very proud of that at age 77. I’d love to try for 1000 next year (As you can see, I’m very behind in vlogmases. ). Happy New Year!
As I’m on catch up & nearly there with your vlogmas I feel I’ve missed out on question time hey ho I am loving the binge watching You have me yearning for swede not had it for ages yum yum a must on the shopping list 😋
I’d join you on the 1000 mile walk! I have one of the book nook kits on the way for myself and two more for gifts! I’m hoping we’ll all work on them after Christmas dinner!
I laughed when you read my comment out Ali.😂 We have many little traditions and silly family things; sayings and little memories which make us all laugh and remember family members no longer with us. I hope you and your family have a lovely fun Christmas.❤
Love your volgs. I did a beginner crochet workshop this summer. So I spend my time with you. It's going to be a long road. But the beautiful advent wools are souring me on.🧶
Hi Ali, it's time før me to finally leave a comment here. I have been following you since the beginning I think, and never commented before, sorry. I just want to tell you, that I really enjoy your cozy vlogs and love you and your wonderful family. I am Danish and the way you feel about Denmark I have always (ever since I was a child) felt about England and everything British, lol❤ I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas. Big hugs from DK.
We are the same, no outside clothes on the bed, also for me no shoes on the bed, no dirty feet on the bed, and literally cannot go to sleep without an evening shower. 😂
I recently discovered ´singing neeps’, basically microwave whole from raw for half an hour. On a plate because the juices caramelise and get very hot, but once cooled enough you can slice the top off like a boiled egg and scoop out the perfectly cooked, sweet fluffy centre which doesn’t need any butter and is delicious and so easy no peeling necessary ! 😋
Hi Ali, I'm from Wales ha ha 😂, I call it marks and sparks too , and got to tell you I mentioned a while ago I was scared of doing socks because of the heels , but I have finally made them so chuffed, I'm on my 5th pair in 4 weeks I'm calling them my dodgy socks as each pair has a little mistake but nobody will notice 😂 x
I was an exchange student in Denmark for the 1982-83 school year. It was over 40 years ago, but Denmark still has a huge place in my heart. As an aside, I grew up in Canada and there were Marks & Spencer stores in very big cities. We also called it Marks & Sparks.
You must grab Dan and the girls and come for a visit immediately! Would love it if you came over. If you like Tisvildeleje (Tisvillelaye ... sort of😁) I bet you'd like Skagen too. The very nothern part of Denmark (the top of Jutland). Very nice vibe. Beautiful houses and right next to the sea. You can stand with your feet in two different seas at once! They meet right at the top. And - it's no too far from where I live, so I could come crash your party😂😍
Hej Ali! Enjoying your vlogmas so very much! A Walk-along?! What a great idea. Sign me up! 🏃♀️➡️😃 Hope you still enjoy the paper advent? I love seeing all the little creatures appear. Greetings from Germany 😉 Hug xx Nicole
I’d be up for doing a walk-along with you and other viewers, Ali. The only issue for me is living in Canada. During Winter and early Spring, the weather isn’t often conducive to walking outside, but I could do my walking on the treadmill if that’s acceptable? I’m loving Vlogmas and watch faithfully every day xox
Now that you mention it, my grandmother always took the bus, and always insisted on not wearing our pajamas on the living room furniture or daytime clothes on the bed. Guess it was for the same reason. I had the Christmas tree protected by a 76 cm tall baby gate when our dog was a puppy, then found her exploring around the tree; turns out baby gates are not high enough to block miniature poodles. The tree was undisturbed.
I am going to try and get healthy and fitter next year, so not sure I could manage 1000 miles but would like the idea of walking 500 in the year 🚶♂️🚶♂️😏. BTW I only found your podcast and vlogs in vlogtober, but they are lovely and hubby and I love watching ❤
My mom and brother are anti-cookie dunkers, but my dad and I are all-in for that 🍪🥛💗 Aww, I'm so happy we inspire you to keep walking! You encourage me too! 😄💗 Love the Q&A, all ya'lls beautiful! 🫶🏻❤️I'd be up for a 1,000 mile goal next year! Don't think ur weird about the outdoor clothes on the bed thing, I do the same thing! 🤣 A crochet question: have you ever used the single crochet joining method for joining squares? I'm using it to join big squares and it makes ripping out mistakes easy if I end up getting one backwords 😝
Ali, Thank you for answering my question about the hot pink scarf. I found the pattern and will be ordering shortly. You look so lovely in pink! Mariann in Illinois, US.
I have a non Christmas related question if I may. How do you stop your hair growing outwards and getting frizzy after you've styled it? Mine is thick and wavy and needs to be dried straight but doesn't last well at all. Thanks
My lovely ma-in-law bought Christmas favours to put on the table one year, small wind up walking toys which she found in a bargain bin. Didn’t occur to her that zombies and vampires were not particularly Christmassy, but they were a lot cheaper than the snowmen and Santas. Nothing quite says Christmas like a Christmas vampire. Here’s to daft family traditions, when the vampires are on the tree, and the Neil’s Bohr atom is at the top, the Tardis is flashing and the panda is gripping the branches, we can truely say it is Christmas. Jan x
I do the same thing as Allie to cover the tablet. I buy a length of oilcloth online at a company that sells it. In America do an online search for oilcloth by the yard. You don't have to finish the edges.
Denmark is my favourite country too. I got engaged there in May when we went for Eurovision in Malmo! We’re getting married there next year. It’s my dream to move there, the UK is miserable! I’m really enjoying vlogmas, thank you for making the videos! ❤
A swede is also called a rutabaga in the US. Rutabaga is also the name of our sweet kitty 🐱 Loving the vlogs as always. And I would definitely be interested in walking 1000 miles together virtually.
Change it from miles to kilometers, I burst out laughing! I made the Simpsons house for my son (in Lego), but the Kwik-E-Mart is MUCH more fun to make.
Thanks for reading out my cheeky comment - my 15 seconds of fame! I love Peggy Sue's colouring, she's beautiful, moulting or not! You can add South Africa for calling ATMs holes in the wall. At least in my family, but like I said, not sure if my folks didn't bring that back from their time living in England. I will watch everyone walk their 1000 miles from my chair unfortunately as I am no longer able to walk substantially. I can contribute with pics of the wildlife we usually encounter on walks around here though. We are very lucky to have a lot of cool wildlife in the area, even if we curse the monkeys for doing their grocery shopping from our cupboards! Bananas now live with the pots and pans... We have a whole area of banana trees and mangoes etc which they demolish too! They do leave the chestnuts though - can't think why! ;-P
Slowly catching up with your vlogmasses and enjoying every one! I love the idea of a walkalong, but I'm not sure 1000 miles is achievable for me. I might set myself a 500 mile target for 2025, as I do want to exercise more, and I'll see how I get on. Could you remind us of the walking apps you use - I need a bit of help planning routes and tracking distance etc. Thank you!
Thank you for making these vlogs, not just now, but year round! Usually I watch on my TV and don’t get a chance to interact, but I simply had to pop in to say Hello! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Very Merry Vlogmas! Etc. also, do you watch Diane in Denmark? She’s Scottish, but lives in Denmark, and she is a routines coach. I love her content, and I think you would too! Lastly, if Dan ever needs a LEGO vacation, I’ve got an entire LEGO room and a husband that would enjoy the help. The two could nerd out together. 😂
Joseph lost his head a few years back so that nativity of mine has a single mom 😂 You’d think I could glue his head back after all this time but alas, I forget until I see again every December. Ha
Re: your 1000 miles challenge (this year), you could just shift the 12 month period from (for example) Sept ‘24 to Sept ‘25. (I seem to remember you saying it didn’t have to be Jan to Jan).
Hmmmmm a walk group sounds like a wonderful idea! Thanks for your happy vlogs!! Ewww grosss, I agree with cloths on the bed…especially after a bus ride lol
A swede in England is a turnip or neep in Scotland (orange flesh). And a turnip in England (small white flesh) is a swede in Scotland. I've never known why.😂
I enjoy your vlogs but you are far too organised for me. It makes me feel seriously deficient! Not your fault! I think you are what they call neurotypical, I am not! Lol. Absolutely no idea how you do it all!
Phew, I have wanted to say something for a while but didn't want to be rude. Her parenting and relationships seem perfect whereas we are quite dysfunctional. It makes me sad. It's not her fault its just the way it is. My own parents were neurodivergent and hoarders. Her brain is like a smooth running high spec computer. Mine is a partly broken 1980s zx spectrum lol.
Yes to a walk-along! Sounds fun xx

Is a swede a rutabaga?
For the next Q&A when will the #danfan mugs be in your shop? ;)
😂😂
Yes to this!!
Just loving your Christmas vlogs Ali, great to hear you answer some questions too. Cheers till tomorrow.❤️👏🥰🤗😍💕
Ooh yes I’d like to walk 1000 miles with you next year, only done 800 this year but I’m well chuffed with that xxx
I think there should be a montage at the end of the year of everyone walking along to the Proclaimers ( 500 miles, and 500 more ) ❤
Love it!
I'd walk just to participate in THAT!
Loved seeing the chickens again! And - you have to have skirlie with neeps!
Joann Fabrics in the US has oil cloth for tablecloths sold by the yard.

I was thinking the same about changing to km. I think you should aim for 1500km. That still gives you a challenge, but a doable one.
I have been enjoying your vlogmas. Is a swede akin to a rutabaga? as they have yellow orange flesh. xx

I'm sure the Danish Tourist Appartment (or whatever it's called) will like to hire you anytime! Thank you for your kind words about Denmark ❤
I'm up for walking 1000 miles in 2025.
I would walk a 1000 miles (1610 ish kilometres) along with you here in Canada.
WATA - Walk Along Together Apart

Does anyone else get super excited if Ali calls out you name and answers your question? 🤗 It’s just DJ , Ali, the rest is my last name. 😊
Love your vlogs = would love a walking challene
Hi Just listened to you,I'm from Wales 😊and I say Marks and sparks and the hole in the wall😊.I'm under my husband's name I'm Linda loveyour videos.xx
I made the moonlit shawl. I love it. I made it in dk though
Love the q&a vlogs. Currently with a pink moscato ❤ what is your favourite tipple?
I think other nationalities might call what we know as swedes, rutabagas!
I’d walk with you, Ali. It would be a fun challenge.

Yip the year of living Danishly started my fixation with Denmark
I got married in Denmark. I told my husband we need to go back for our 15th anniversary ❤
I figured 1000 miles is just under 3 miles a day, if you do it every day.
I would love to have a go at walking 1000 miles with you in 2025! What a great motivator 😊
How about changing your walking goal from miles to kilometres?… she asks cheekily 😇
Just saw that I’m not the only one with that suggestion 😂❤
@@sunbirdcrochet great minds! We'll leave out the fools never differ part...

🎄🎄🎄😊😊😺😺😺
Definitely up for 1000 walkalong in 2025. Would love updates on IG
My Mom also passed away in 2018, then my dad in 2022. 😢Rough times.
A swede in England is a turnip or neep in Scotland (orange flesh). And a turnip in England (small white flesh) is a swede in Scotland. I've never known why.😂
🤯
Swede = Rutabaga 😋🇺🇸
Loved this vlog, thankq Ali
I need a 2025 fitness challenge!
I FULLY AGREE ABOUT NO OUTSIDE CLOTHES ON THE BED! 🚫
Also, I would love to do a walk a long! ❤😊
Denmark is a wonderful happy country. They also have the highest self ending life rate. Just sayin.
I enjoy your vlogs but you are far too organised for me. It makes me feel seriously deficient! Not your fault! I think you are what they call neurotypical, I am not! Lol. Absolutely no idea how you do it all!
Same here. I have ADHD and so do my husband and son and seeing Ali’s idea of a mess is quite humbling.
