I hope this isn’t too inappropriate, especially since you are obviously politically conscious, but Just a reminder that Home Depot (and John Deere) donated more than $800,000 to Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election results, according to federal election contribution data compiled by the liberal group Accountable.US. I know that's a lot of video content, but a 'how to solve these problems' kind of video would be so appreciated (: This is really informative as it is, but particularly towards the end I think the segments were too short (as you were worried about timing) while I think you have a lot more to offer and to say about every one of these!

As a believer of Feng Shui, yes, get rid of the mattress, that is one of the beliefs of this philosophy. It accumulates bad energy and you need to clean that slate for positive energy and luck for yourself, by changing the mattress. Better yet, if it is brand new. Same with flowers and plants, they need to be tended to, to give you positive energy

YES! Well, sort of. Each one resonated a tiny bit. Accepting that my home will never be perfect and I’ll never pay what I’d need to for dream pieces, for one. Accepting that my smaller rooms mean some things will always feel a little cramped. Like the cabinet we use as a bathroom vanity - it has to be there but it makes the bathroom entry feel tighter than I’d like. But I have the privilege of a three-bedroom (very small bedroom) place in a great location. So, okay. Executive dysfunction, check. Though for me the main thing is I like too many unique things and struggled to edit my design, so I trend towards clutter. The small rooms don’t help. But for me,

I painted my office plum, my bedroom wall behind my bed persimmon, and my guest room a bright minty sea green color called Thai Silk and only then did I feel like my styling worked - the original neutrals didnt set anything off. Though I did finally find a neutral I liked - Dulux’s Cotton Fantasy. Turns out I ONLY like warm whites, never cool ones.

Hi Medora! I love your videos when you share your thoughts and opinions! I personally would've preferred this over your black friday idea but that's just me. I forgot what my verdict on the first story was, but for the second story I thought the in-laws were the assholes, not so much for what the SIL initially did, but for how they reacted to it and guilt-tripped OP, who was already being very understanding of the situation and is just exercising her right to organize her own property back to how she sees it fit. I especially hate how her husband and other relatives tag teamed her, telling her that what she did was wrong and that she was undermining her SIL's work. It sounds like a horrible situation of gaslighting. For the last story: y'all (the parents) have issues😂. I could already tell from when you were reading the post that it's more than just the bed. Now I'm not gonna call a pregnant wife an asshole nor am I gonna call the husband an asshole, but I think their dynamic as spouses is dysfunctional. The wife needs to communicate more than just "I prefer it this way and I'm not entertaining any compromise" and the husband needs to be observant of his wife's struggles. I also noticed that the wife being more assertive might mean that the husband isn't able to argue his points without consequences to their relationship, which is why his post is somewhat worded in a way that paints his wife in a more negative light.

I smiled when you said "we tend to go with neutrals and beiges"... ...I just color drenched my home office in a Dulux* color called Aubergine Burst, which I've paired with dark wine-red sheer curtains and a Hakka-style floral fabric with a dark red background (bright red or aqua are more traditional but I know someone who sells it in the darker color) on the back of a black Billy bookcase. *Dulux and Nippon Paint basically the only brands available in Taiwan, where I live, that come in the whole range of colors. No Behr, Benjamin Moore or other brands at all. When I actually choose wall colors, I basically grab some portable accessories in the room that I like and want my paint to look good with, and I have some idea what I want (e.g. "I want a plummy purple that will look good with these ceramics" led to Aubergine Burst). I live walking distance from a store with a paint service so I throw them in a tote bag and hunt until I find something I like -- I've only had to choose a white once as I don't generally paint rooms white, but in that case I just found the color of the wall I really liked and already had, and held it next to different whites until something worked. With whatever I've chosen, I usually go one shade up on the strip, because I've had it dry darker on my walls than it appeared on the card more than once. A very slightly lighter tint than what I've chosen from the cards generally yields what I was going for.

I'm a color intuitive. I've worked as a color consultant. All the technical stuff in this video is totally confusing to my right brained brain. I just look at a color and understand it to the point where, when manufacturers colors don't work as expected, I just head off to the paint store and buy whatever color I need to adjust the problem color to where I want it. BTW, Home Depot "color matching" is useless. I assume it's the same for all the color matching services. I purchased paint for all the woodwork in my house from the close out table and ran out. When I had HD "color match" it, the machine "matched" color was a chocolate brown (too red) vs the original which was an umber brown (charcoal brown). After more than 15 trips back to HD for adjustments with the endlessly patient paint dept. person (who happened to be the ONLY paint dept. employee with any inkling of color mixing), I gave up. I ended up purchasing 3 different colors of premixed paint, went home, mixed them up and VIOLA!!!, I had an exact color match to the original color. Based on my experience, the easiest way to pick a color is to buy an 8oz sample, paint 2'x2' (or larger) squares on EVERY wall in the room, then look at the samples at various times throughout the day and under different lighting conditions. It's not a guarantee, but it should get you close. Even with this technique, I've had (many) failures. The issue is that when you paint a whole room, the color bounces off the various surfaces and intensifies, so it's not gonna look exactly like the samples. If you don't understand color, either experiment till you get it right or hire someone to figure out the colors for you. Color is a science. Technology is NOT a substitute for a knowledgeable human - but even with a human, expect it to be painful. I watch lots of decor videos and pretty much all of the presenters, amateurs and professionals alike, talk about the color mistakes they make. It's part of the territory...

color really is a lot, and i think it's impossible to not fail miserably when you're starting to work with color lol 🤣 i've seen the color matching work before, so i think it's always worth a shot if there's a very specific thing you like the color of, but yeah, definitely not a guarantee

Also i'm a bit confused about the white undertones. say we have white walls with a red undertone, then how do you go about picking up the rest of the 60/30/10 colours from that? does that mean you should have red toned wood and warm as far as the colours go? i know you breifly mentioned, make sure the undertone doesn't clash but I'm having a hard time understandign what would class against a grey undertoned white vs a cream/orange undertoned white. hope that question makes sense! thanks for the content as always!

i've no idea why your channel isn't more popular- your advice is extremely actionable and SUPER HELPFUL! I'd say it's up there with the helpful tips that Noah daniels gives out. it all makes perfect sense when broken down :)

I dislike the newer intro tagline about "girls gays and theys" -- even though I am in that subset, I would hope this could be inclusive to men. (Trans guys, bi curious, etc.). I love how accessible you generally are and love your focus on anti-capitalism without falling too deeply into "we live in a society" discourse.

I fear you’re falling into the “we live in a society” discourse bc there are non-binary ppl who don’t use they pronouns.. however, they (or x or *insert pronoun*) probably know they’re included with directly getting a shoutout in the tagline. They don’t have to list everyone in the lgbt+ umbrella to be inclusive. It’s actually impossible and many bi people identify with being “gay” anyway. Maybe they’re a she/they gay! Like it’s not that deep. You won’t get very far demanding men have inclusivity lol, look into the patriarchy a bit since you’re feeling anti capitalist.

I like the intro, I like how forthright Medora is in making content for marginalized communities that are gonna get more marginalized in the coming years. I would hope that trans men know that they are also included, and that straight cis men are gracious enough to not be offended by the lack of inclusion

I think I'm in a tiny minority among home design aficionados, but I'm a big fan of teal -- unfortunately the same teal as the Wives' clothing in The Handmaid's Tale TV series. I feel like teal is an unpopular choice but I'm always drawn to it.

@@channamasala1 depends on the teal I guess. I find it incredibly hard to find the right colours to pair with teal. the wives teal was beautiful but I have a retro teal couch and I find it soooooo difficult to figure out what other colours to pair it for cushions or anything else in the room. teal somehow grabs a litle too much attention or something?
