As another 'person who thinks about interior deisgn way too much' I just wanted to let you know how much I adore you and your channel. Your style ... your interior insights... your reflections on structural violence... I'm here for it all! Sending Aroha from Aotearoa (Love from New Zealand) ps. oddly specific interior design thing I'm obsessed with right now is rewiring vintage danish lamps
My odly specific interior design yum is using extension cords that are not black or white - preferably firetruck red, and not trying to hide them but display them proudly, like - yes, that's an extension cord crawling down my kitchen floor because I don't have an outlet on that wall.
@@anticapitalisthomedesign there's a German brand called Bachmann that sells colourful extension cords for 9€ (or 10$) for 1.5 m ones (5 feet) and 15€ (17$) for 3m ones (10 feet)! They each have three outlets.

One thing I’m loving is taking a really nice illustrated page from a book that doesn’t get read but you know the stuff inside looks interesting and framing that page so you can see it all the time 😄
Fun fact: coloured stain is actually super easy to diy! You just mix your desired amount of food colouring into isopropyl alcohol, and you’re good to go! You’ll also need to seal it with something afterwards so the colour doesn’t transfer. It probably would fade overtime in sunlight though, so it’s probably not great for larger furniture pieces. I’ve used it in the past to stain a handmade board game and some other kid’s toys.
I’m really into little lamps and funky lampshades (pleated, flowery, etc), painted lampshades, and unique/ painted/ fabric covered frame matting. Also, painting small details on your walls or furniture, and fairy doors to cover ugly outlets.
I like the green stained plywood! It dresses up the inexpensive wood while showcasing the grain. I have a pamphlet from Home Depot of Varathane stains and it shows at least half a dozen different green hues, if that helps. I've heard some interior people say that once you've subtracted everything you can, that you should subtract something for every one thing you add later on.
Seeing people’s values sprinkled into their home is a big yum. Design isn’t just about making your home a commodity advertisement for different brands, but truly about curating a space that is reflective of ones values. I think overly perfect, beige, trendy minimalism is a pretty decent indication of the gross indifference most people harbour towards social issues today and I’m all for the current shift that is emerging away from that! Oh yeah and free Palestine!!!
what oddly specific interior design things are you obsessed with right now?
“Don’t let the cats out or the cops in” is my favorite quote ever!

i’ll definitely check that out, thank you!!
Love the additive vs subtractive concept that I haven't really heard anyone express like that for interior design
yeah, i hadn’t either + i thought it might be helpful
I'm totally obsessed with making tiny (smaller than 4"x4") realistic paintings of insects, lizards and fungi.
cuuuute 😍 if you ever start an etsy, let me know + i’ll share it!
