Why can't I get volume?
Sorry about the volume. I have checked everything from our end through TH-cam studio and it all appears to be working fine 😊
.
Very interesting. Love the ending comment about your hand. Makes me want to come visit.
Thanks for watching, maybe we’ll see you here one day! 🤗🤗
Really enjoying the tours!
Thanks very much 😊we’ve taken a bit of a break to get over some injuries and Christmas and will be back in full swing shortly
Thankyou for this information. You are the only one who shows how to dry and powder it.
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful😊👍🏻
Just about to harvest mine and needed a video to show me how to process it. This was thorough and easy to follow, amazing keep up the good work. P.S I am rewatching the good life at the moment and when I pressed play and heard the music I knew this was going to be good.
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊👍🏻
Love the good life music.
Just love the way you were honest with the jam not setting and showed how to improve the consistency. Looks very yummy xx
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you thank you 🙏 my arrowroot is ready to harvest and I had no idea - also love that you are using a Thermomix - I do so much preserving from the garden with mine
Glad it was helpful!😊😊
The leaves of Moringa are God's gift for health but the seeds provide oil that is even more healing. Even the left over seeds, once the oil has been extracted, (the cake) can be used to purify water. If people only understood how well Moringa works every person would grow their own. It reversed my cancer and diabetes.
Hi Mike that’s why we try and get these small messages out. You are so right with the benefits the whole moringa plant provides it is definitely a miracle tree and congratulations on reversing your cancer and diabetes. Good health and happy growing 😊😊
Hello and thank you for sharing your garden 🙂 Wondering if the tree lettuce is also called timor lettuce?
Hi Lynda yes you are right it is also known as Timor lettuce. You caught us by surprise we didn’t know the different name and it’s always exciting to learn from others and expand our knowledge. 🤗🤗
Thanks for taking the time to do that guys.❤ Very informative n inspiring. We will be looking out for a few of those plants for our garden too.🥥🥑
Thanks very much Karlene very much appreciated. Remember the more you plant the better off you are😊😊
Hi 👋 Love this tour. Where did you get your Mexican Sunflowers?
Thanks very much they do as a splash of colour and are very good for chop and drop. We got our Mexican Sunflower seeds from Happy Valley Seeds. We have found that they strike best when we just lay the stalks with the flowers on the ground rather than planting the seeds. That’s just what works in our area though. Oh there are quite a few other suppliers out there as well. Hope this helps and happy gardening 😊😊
Thank you for the video. I don't have a Thermomix - I have a pressure cooker - do you think I could cook the beans in the pressure cooker first, then blend up with a stick blender, then strain? Thanks.
Hi sorry we didn't mention that. Without a Thermomix you would soak the beans overnight then strain the soak water add clean water as per the recipe, blend the beans at high speed then put in a large pot bring to the boil and boil for at least 15 min. we have also started adding 1/4 teaspoon of bicarb per litre which stops the milk from separating in your Coffee/Tea. Hope this helps
Excellent video thank you. I have Canna edulis growing down near Wollongong on south coast NSW. I will try making the arrowroot flour for baking my own gluten free bread as I figure I might as well make flour from what I have in my garden rather than always buying imported flours. You mentioned in another comment that you have tried using the whole chopped root to make GF flour, without separating out the starch. I think I will give that a go for my bread. Re: cooking arrowroot tubers as a vegetable - I've found it's best to peel, chop into thick slices and pre-cook in the pressure cooker for 15 minutes to soften the fibres. Then you can grill, fry or roast like you would a potato. Needs plenty of salt and flavouring of choice e.g. garlic oil, but is an acceptable alternative to potatoes, and much easier to grow. Where I live we get 1200mm plus of rain and lots of humidity, so normal potatoes tend to rot, but Qld arrowroot grows here like a weed!
Thanks that is some really handy hints we will have to give them a try. Good luck with your GF flour i hope yours turns out as well as ours does.
Wow! Your brave having the Jerusalem Artichoke growing in the bed. I planted one piece in a square metre raised bed, and after the beautiful show of flowers died down, I went to harvest the roots. The bed was riddled with them!!! So hard to remove!
You are definitely right once you have them they are there forever. Actually we use the Jerusalem Artichoke as a chop and drop and over the summer it really provides a good amount of shade to the lower plants.
💚
Looks great! Love seeing the examples of gardens where people would normally think it's "not possible" like around the golden canes or under native trees.
Thank you and yes the impossible is possible in gardens it just means you have to let go of all the rules. I love wild gardens where every day you can actually see nature in action.
Just watch the 4 o'clock plant. It can take over...
Thank you for the information on 4 o'clock plant I'll be keeping a close eye on it
Just love the Corymbia. Always wanted one for my garden😊
They are amazing trees we have four of them on the property 3 are pink flowering and the one in this clip which produces striking red flowers
Back again 😊 Ive just found your video on arrowroot. Great info! I left a comment/question: The first process in the thermomix, did you just crush the roots or cook them? Thanks.
Hi glad you found the arrowroot video. In answer to your question we just crush the roots to get the starch out. Or if we just want flour we just crush them and dehydrate them then grind them in the thermie or bullet. And then you have the flour with a nice amount of starch in it. 😊😊
Awesome information. Many thanks ❤️ The first process in the thermomix, did you just crush the roots or cook them? Thanks.
Very interesting information. Many thanks. Do you have a video on harvesting your arrowroot? Would love to learn how to make use of the roots. Many thanks ❤️
Very glad you found the arrowroot video😊
Our gorgeous region 😁
Awesome garden !!
Looks great 😃
Looked so good yesterday Bev. I will be trying very soon. ~ Leah
Thanks very much Leah I’m sure you will enjoy it 😊😊
Sounds beautiful 😊
I have a braided hibiscus(only red flowers) can i make the tea with his kind of hibiscus??
(I bought in a store)
Hi Hibiscus sabdariffa (Rosella) is the only one we use for tea and it’s the calyx off these fruit which goes to make the tea and jam. Normal hibiscus with the flower 🌺 is Hibiscus rosa sinensis some of these are used for teas but you would have to do some research into how it is processed and the flavour would probably be different. Hope this helps😊👍🏻
i would love the plans for making this if you can send me?
Hi I drew up rough plans (very rough) so I’ve asked my son to convert them to some sort of CAD file so if you don’t mind waiting a little longer I’ll get them to you then if he can’t convert them I’m afraid you’ll have to put up with my hand drawing 😊😊
Hi solrock4703 can you please send either message via messenger or email to us at corymbiacottage@gmail.com so we can send a copy the plans.
Fascinating! Great detail. I havent tried it yet, but I hear if you use the most tender roots and soak overnight first they are great as a mash or in stir fry.
Thanks very much that sounds like a great tip we will have to give it a go😊😊👍🏻
Thanks, can you use any canna plants? 🌱🌱🌱
Hi thanks for the question and sorry for the delay in reply. The only edible one that we are aware of is Canna edulis which is Queensland Arrowroot, to the best of our knowledge the other cannas look similar but aren’t edible. West Indian arrowroot however is an alternative BOTANICAL NAME: Maranta arundinacea COMMON NAMES: West Indian Arrowroot FAMILY: Marantaceae PLANT DESCRIPTION It is native to tropical South America. It does best on rich well-drained sandy loams. It is a completely different plant to Queensland Arrowroot Canna edulis It looks similar to Turmeric in leaf shape. The fine-grained starch, derived from the rhizomes, is the commercial source of arrowroot flour, which produces a very fine paste or jelly. USES Tubers can be eaten raw or baked but are very fibrous. To extract the starch, the tubers are first washed and then crushed. This pulp is mixed with water and passed through sieves to remove the fibres. The water is then evaporated off the trays, leaving the starch behind. The highly digestible starch is used in pastries, biscuits, and is preferred to flour in thickening soups, sauces and gravies. This information was from the green Harvest website. Hope this answers your question 😊😊
I have only bought Seaperia for my dogs but after watching this I will be getting rid of my Seasol and using the Seaperia granules for my plants. Thanks for the advice - your garden looks great.
Thanks very much we have found the Seaperia to be really good on the garden our horses have some regularly also and it is way more cost effective than the others. We are really glad you could get something from our video😊😊
Wow, fantastic. Would love to know how you use the pulp flour…
Hi, we use the pulp flour mixed with other flours and starches when we make cakes and bread for a gluten free alternative etc and we also make the most delicious vege patties for hamburgers and the like. So we just mix it with other flours when baking to obtain the desired consistency instead of using the standard flours. it is a beautiful light flour🙂🙂hope this helps
@@corymbiacottageorganicgard3417 Thank you!
Thanks Corymbia Cottage, what a fantastic video! Loving your multispecies, so many different plants all growing together, the legumes and the flowers to attract your pollinators, native bees... such an abundant garden. Great work! And thanks for loving Seaperia!
Thanks very much Liz, it is easy when we are able to work with such a great product. 😊😊
Very informative and interesting..i really enjoyed seeing this plant in habitat...and understanding what starch is compared to flour
Thankyou very much, we are very happy that you got some good tips and found our video informative. 😊
Thanks very much 😊😊
Can you also dry it outside in the sun?
Absolutely we used to do this in the past. Because we live in the subtropics we just had to ensure that there were clear days and just to be safe we would bring the trays undercover at night.
And in the tumble dryer.
Why did you dump the pectin liquid out, only to pour it right back in?
Great question, sorry we didn’t really explain this, but the reason to decant the liquid and put it back in is so we ensure we don’t put too much liquid in with the calyx’s as it would make a runny jam😊
Thanks Bev, enjoyed your video and so glad you had a failure because it shows me how to recover from it. 👏👏👏. Now…onto my mandarins jam!
Hi I'm glad you liked the video. I decided that most TH-cam clips looked too good to be true. lol Not everything turns out so well so I thought why not show the other side when things go wrong!!! I hope that your Mandarin jam turns out really well first time. All the best Bev
🥰Looking good.
Thank you! 🤗
Nuts pretending not to be nuts lol

We are really glad it helped thanks very much😊👍🏻
Great video and looks amazing!
Thanks very much Carol
Absolutely awesome!
Thanks very much Carol glad you liked it😊👍🏻
Very complete, more than the standard recipe for it, thanks!
Thanks very much we were trying to be as comprehensive as possible without overwhelming everyone 😊👍🏻
Love this! Thank you for the share ❤
You are so welcome!
Nice video. What is the difference in use between the flour and the starch? Do you use the flour for making bread and the starch for thinkening?
Thanks for watching and yes, correct the starch we use in thickening eg soups, stews, stir fry etc and the flour we use to make pancakes and things like that. Just recently we processed the whole root into flour with out removing the starch and found it works really well as a gluten free flour and holds together really well. Hope this helps😊
