great breakdown!

I actually hated the middle of the book the most. The Tamlin "romance" was just not it for me. The pacing was weird. They should have been hooking up way before they did. It was clear they were both into each other and they were not hiding it from one another. There was none of that will -they-won't-they. They were clearly going to but we had to sit through countless picnics and painting sessions before they even made out. It was a slog. And once they actually got together it was not good (this could be purely based on taste) because the descriptions of the sex scenes were weirdly too emotionally based, yet too mater of fact. I don't know how to explain it. It just wasn't it. When she went into the trials at least the plot picked up, even though it wasn't good. Totally agree on the riddle. It's tricky to write a good riddle because if any reader solves it before the protagonist, it just makes the protagonist seem stupid.

I didn’t get the ick from her until I started noticing her behavioral patterns 😅 like she needs better people in her life to hold her accountable, I don’t think she’s inherently bad or anything but maybe just misguided & glamoured ? Idk it’s like seeing someone you know could do better but they just won’t 😭

So, Ive got one major gripe with you thus far while watching this ridiculously long yet very well thought out and well put together video... when kendrick says that he has three angels watching over him in "6:16 in L.A." and you state "well he has three kids so that's pretty self explanatory". Kendrick only has TWO kids. and he is still with the kids mom so I think those are the three angels...the two kids and Whitney. Don't be giving him an extra kid!!

Regarding Meet the Grams and reference to “the beard”: Double entendre-a “beard” commonly used to describe hetero-normative men who don’t like women but uses them for their own gratification, but may be gay underneath the veneer. Also, Drake wearing a beard does fit him better. He looks way better with a beard than without; it is also common that there are occasions when men do look better with a beard than without.

That “shake that ass for Drake” is disgusting to me. The misogyny is dripping. I really cannot stand him. I never understood the hype. Drake reminds me so much of Trump: narcissist, predator, fraud, hates women, LGBTQ; he’s a bully who only cares about fame, fortunate and exploiting women. So much like Trump. Can’t stand him.

42:05 I think while this interpretation of what Cole said about his albums technically lines up, I think it makes more sense for him to be talking about GKMC as his “first shit” only because that album is universally agreed upon by just about everyone to be a classic, and it was Kendrick’s major label debut, with Section .80 and Overly Dedicated being independent projects that only garnered major attention on the underground levels of hip-hop. This would make TPAB the 3rd album that put people to sleep, which would make sense with how much higher conceptual and artistic expression is put on that album with songs like u and Mortal Man or even the album version of i. While I consider TPAB to be his best work, I have often heard criticism about this album specifically being that it’s boring and too artsy and it “doesn’t have enough bangers.” This would also make DAMN his 3rd shit which garnered a lot more mainstream success and won him the Pulitzer Prize, making it make more sense as his prime. While I still think J.Cole’s criticism was so weak that not even he believed it, I don’t think he is so contradictory and unintelligent that he would say GKMC is so boring that it put people to sleep.

While I think you did a great job overall with your breakdown of the beef from start to finish I will say I really appreciated your concluding thoughts at the end. I hear so often that Kendrick won but not much further about how these allegations that both men put out there could sway people's opinions about one another's music and careers or the importance that we hear these allegations and see how they are being used in context with the beef.

#JusticeforTamlin Unfortunately, it seems character assassination is inevitable for Maas. You can even see negative fan reviews about A Court of Silver Flames that Feyre and Rhysand got the same treatment just to make readers sympathize with Nesta and Cassian :/ Hot take: i think it would have been more impactful to have feyre stay with tamlin and have them slowly communicate and work through their trauma together. Keep the bargain with Rhysand as a plot device to give feyre some space from tamlin so she can slowly sort out her issues and get in the right head space. I think that would have been a great way to send the message that relationships require work and commitment and that the work isnt done once the honeymoon is over. Sometimes, couples can and do drift apart after a traumatic event (like losing a child) before coming back together again and stronger for it. I understand Maas started this series when she was 18, so it makes sense why the execution is rather...lacking in areas. but if you're going to present such adult themes in your works, then I think it's fitting that you also do your best to portray those themes in all its complexities, not simplify or drop them whenever it's convenient to the plot, especially when it's done solely to elevate one character over another. I cannot stand that in fiction.
