Thank you!! I think the backlash on Rory is extremely harsh and, really, fed by this expectation of perfection which is completely unrealistic and, by the way, exactly what ASP pushes against. People mess up, make mistakes, feel lost and move towards a completely different direction from the expectations that were placed upon them. And this is what makes Rory a realistic, imperfect, human being and a relatable character. I believe that this hate on Rory comes from a kind of mirror effect. They see their vulnerabilities and fuck ups in her and they don’t like it

I did not vibe with how they exposed Whistledown at the end. I lowkey wish she would've actually just stopped writing and let everyone theorize over her identity. That would also have given her the opportunity to return at some point maybe, or even better transition into an actual novel writer that publishes her work. It quite annoyed me that in the end they made it seem like she couldn't give up Whistledown because "what else would she write" anything else? She loves to read novels it would not have been far fetched for her to start writing them. Her and Colin (had he been given a little more time to develope his writing) could've been the author couple! It would've been a worthy conclusion to their stories. There was so much potential in them having a writer romance. I thought that's the direction they were going to take it when we were first introduced to his writing. I'm kinda miffed they completely wasted that opportunity. Anyway great video as always <3 Keep doing what you're doing I always look forward to your commentary on things!

Rory deserves sympathy. She grew up without a father, responsible for keeping peace in a pretty dysfunctional family and for "fixing" her mom's errors in the eyes of her grandparents and for being THE perfect pretty smart sweet and edgy girl. I think a lot of gifted women can relate to her so much. That is EXACTLY why she starts making pretty bad choices. She seeks validation from men (well, I guess why!) and when she is not praised she completely loses trust in herself. She has not built her self-image, instead, she forces herself to fit in the image that was built for her. She's not evil, she's not selfish and mean. She simply needs therapy. lol

I can't tell you how happy I am to have finally encountered another Tarquin lover! I would literally burn the world down for that man! ❤️ He's lived long UTM than outside of it, and still wants to make the world better.

I don’t hate Selena but her documentary made me confused and made her look fake cause she said she wants to use her power and influence for good things she feels she has to do that’s her responsibility but when we want her voice or when it’s time for her to use her platform she’s nowhere and seemed doesn’t care. I appreciate two things the most: 1) you provide reasons she always felt like an outsider in her own family (Chris and the Haydens); 2) you remind us of the economy and job market she faced when she graduated. People usually focus on how Lorelai and the town were always telling her how wonderful she was. You correctly point out that she needed to believe it and she didn’t.

yeaaaaah you're so right! honestly never much identified with rory, but very much with jess... when i watched the reboot i did find rory annoying but i also went to university through 2007-2013 and i can definitely relate to some of her experiences. but it's just that she seems totally admiring and desiring of being a part of this wealthy class and becoming sort of ... passive, compliant to expectations of social desirability of appearing wealthy/white collar. but also that is relateable (unfortunately). i kind of wish after riding it out in this somewhat middle class life she had let herself fall and figure some things out and maybe rejecting being what "being a girlmore" means in the end. it felt like the ending just equated to having babies and settling down in the suburbs (especially how that was paralleled with lane )':) was the solution to everyones problems. ultimately i wasn't the huuuugest gilmore girls fan, but it was a nice comfort show and just let it go and did feel like all the rory analyses were taking it a bit too seriously. happy to have found this video!

I have never actually heard any of these rumors about Drake being a chaser of trans women, but even with that in mind, I'm pretty sure that's not what Kendrick is talking about, even with him being very hotep adjacent. The numerous videos online and pictures of Drake with underage girls, not to mention all the time that Millie Bobby Brown and Billie eilish would talk about texting Drake when they were like 13 and 15 respectively at the time I believe just feels like a very overwhelming case for that being his point. Yeah yeah thinking about auntie diaries alongside that analysis, at the end of that song he is also defending his transform cousin, so that's also why I don't believe that that's what that line is meant to be. Know if he fucks up in the future, I'm definitely calling him out for it. Still not completely sure about that "grew his facial hair cuz he understood being a beard just fit him better" line, cuz the way that's phrased, it sounds like Drake is the beard for a lesbian.... Which honestly I could totally buy, cuz he already acted like a ladies man, you can just continue acting.

Omg, thank you for this. I have so many friends that love this series and I got so excited by all the positive reviews. I bought the first 4 ebooks totally hyped. And then I barely got through the first book and only finished the second book because everyone swore it would get better. I started reading the first few chapters of the third book and completely gave up for good. So now I feel like a snob when I tell people I hate this series. I also think it is completely fine to like the books, btw., but I just cannot pretend to like the series or the writing. Your video was so funny! I also think that the first book felt like two very different stories. The pacing was out of control. 😂

I read this book for the first time a few months ago. No disrespect to anyone who enjoys it, but I absolutely hated it. I found it so boring and predictable, and it was so long! It felt like two different stories smashed together, and I don’t think they blended well. For so many pages, not much happened. Lucien is the best boy though.

Here is the issue. The majority voted for him. Does everyone else think they are smarter than the MAJORITY of voters? Dems need to self reflect and stop the finger wagging. We are not victims. We are not oppressed.

Not, for not, but I think SJM villainizes all sexual encounters that aren’t about desire/love. Mor is a sexually possessed female character and I don’t think the narrative looks down on her. Even Amren is obviously down if Varian ever makes up his mind, and I don’t think we’re supposed to think she’s manipulative-at least not about this. We see the villainization of men who do similar things in the characters (Lucian’s brothers, basically all men in the Night Court). Yes SJM is much more heavy handed with the “men are victims too” narrative, maybe that’s because we rarely see that narrative? So I appreciate the, albeit, heavy handed messaging about “choice” in these books. I do agree the “girl boss, I’m more then a brood mare” narrative is very 2nd wave feminism and not done with a lot tact. And I 100% agree that the villianization of Tamlin was poorly poorly done, like brought me out of the fantasy, I stopped reading for a couple weeks bad. Opportunities were missed and I think it’s too late and SJM doesn’t have it in her to do that exploration of trauma and development justice. Tam is like a mirror of Rhys in terms of their histories, it would have been so gratifying to see two men, in similarish positions, struggling with trauma in different ways and how they each find their way out. I love the Bat Boys so I actually don’t regret leaving Spring for the Night Court, but SJM should have stood by her character. I’ll never excuse his abusive actions towards Feyre, but in terms of not helping her? Can the unsupported & traumatized really effectively help another unsupported & traumatized person without causing further harm? Also, yeah, justice for Lucian, my boy is the cleverest of them all, nobody has his back unconditionally, he is contlstantly trying to find his place, he just wants a family/home of his own. His mate, the one person who is supposed to be his family, hating the sight of him seemed unnecessarily cruel. Honestly, Prythian doesn’t deserve him.

I have inserted a love triangle in my novel solely because I was infuriated over Tamlin's character assassination and I wanted to show that it is possible to write a relationship ending, even bitterly, without reducing one character to a sudden villain.

Omg I thought I was the only one, because all my friends who read ACOTAR loved it. But I had the exact same perception as you reading this book. 💕

To me Rory became a horrible person, she wasn't THAT bad in the begginning of the show but started to get really bad thoughout the last seasons. And in the "a year in the life" she is a completely different person with no morals at all.

I do not care for her character; BUT, you make several valid, respectable points.
