No other book has made me as mad as Crooked Kingdom did. I wasn’t super impressed by SoC but the ending was interesting enough to pick up the sequel and I truly have never been so angry at a book. It would be too much to explain why, but I’ve ranted about those books enough as it is.
I did just wanna point out that at the end of CK, what Kaz did to Pekka Rollins’ kid, he didn’t actually do (bury him alive). That was just a trick. I remember Inej was like omg wtf like how could you do this but he told her he had guessed that he had a son and that he liked certain things. I don’t remember all the details now but my god I was so glad to be done with that book, I didn’t really care what happened.
SoC did have one my favorite quotes which was “if your god is so delicate, maybe you should get a new one” love that quote, wish it had come from a book/series I actually enjoyed 😞

I have loved Holly Black as a writer since Tithe. I think she is such a great writer.

compelled to comment because i read ninth house and assumed she made up those secret societies, and this video marks the first time anybody told me that they actually exist irl which sure is something!

No it's completely okay to not know that bc it's kind of ridiculous when you think about it? Like what do you mean the twelfth Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court was the High Commander of Flibberty Gibbet when he was at Yale?!

I think the thing you're kind of not considering about Inej and Kaz is that Inej also can't handle physical touch well, especially in a more romantic/ sexual context. They both have trauma surrounding touch and not everyone needs touch to have a fulfilling relationship. I don't see that Inej expressed dissatisfaction with this at least in soc since I haven't read ck, I can't speak on anything in that.
Not trying to say you have to ship them or anything, if you don't like it, you don't. And I think you are right about them wanting different things and having fundamentally different goals which could be a huge problem for their potential relationship. (Though putting the blame entirely on Kaz for 'holding Inej back' when he literally provided her with everything she needs to fulfill her dreams (a ship, her freedom, her parents) is inaccurate imo and also her own decision), though idk where you got those interpretations from either so I'm not gonna judge them, since personal experience has a huge influence on these things and that is truly none of my business
Also see why someone would be uncomfortable with the whole Nina and Mattias situation, totally valid.
Jesper is indeed best boy and I'm soft for him and Wylan.

      @@NeidaTeresa aw thank you :)
I wasn't sure if this would come across as rude but I'm glad my comment was actually helpful to you. I understand that our experiences shape us, so I totally get interpreting things more negatively due to trauma, I've been there myself

If you liked the Crows duology, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Grisha Trilogy unless you really like the fantasy aspect of it or you plan on continuing onto the King of scars duology. If you do read Shadow and bone and the two sequels be aware, you MUST do it purely for the VIBES. The writing and plot is nowhere near the Crows duology, Leigh really got so much better with time and it shows.
That being said it really gives good background info to the Grishaverse, despite the cheesy relationships the main character gets into.

I'm gonna skip it! My friend who recommended the Crows duology basically said the same thing so I'll take this as a sign. I'll probably watch what I can of the show though :(
