Hay Chaff and Sawdust
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ส.ค. 2023
Welcome to a family friendly place where we use our CHAINSAW DYNO to test theories and applications of 2 stroke chainsaw porting, muffler mods, etc…
This is NOT a laboratory setting, but we strive for perfection. We also take you along while we bale hay for our animals, take care of our Mini Cattle, Hair Sheep, and Heritage breed hogs, saw lumber with our portable sawmill and edger, repair old and new equipment, and other times of self-sufficiency which I believe may be of interest. We love to delve into things mechanical; and we love to share our learning
I can be contacted by email at everystufffarming@gmail.com or at our Farm’s facebook page under “EveryStuff Farming”

Hello Mr HC !! Just lettin ya know that viagra is for ya mater plants , wont need no stakes , I aint seen any root stiftener ads Yet !! Love Ya channel , i wont condem ya for a few chit , hells & damns !! Take Care Sir !! Nothin wrong with frugal , i aint broke , if just have a cash flow problem , as in cant afford to pay attention !! but its gonna better soon !!
Love the channel never apologize for sharing your experience. I appreciate you.👍🏼
I get what your saying, most of us gonna know it's not your choice. I appreciate your clean vids with any bad words much or anything, after working in the bush one can kinda get tired of it after awhiile , it is what it is...
I’m like you I’m not a prude either I do not like the ads popping up on any channel! I have kids of all ages that’s not even the whole reason. I simply don’t want to see the stuff myself. funny how TH-cam can sensor what some say or do, but they sure slap a sexual ad in front of your face. Trying to get you to click click click.
@jonathanhensley8685 You are very adept at putting-to-words JUST what I'm thinking; I guess that was my whole problem... when I do a video, I have to disclose if there is foul language, sexual content, firearms, controversial issues, etc...; of course I watch my pie-hole to make sure there isn't; after doing all I can, they advertise the stuff that I specifically disallowed and avoided in the content.
I couldn't agree more! Donald Trump texted me from 88022 and told me to buy a Stihl. Best advice I ever got!
@feez357 😅 See?? There ya go!! 💪💪
Don't worry about the ads and carry on as if you were normal. 😂😂
@902hand7 I read too fast sometimes; I read your 3 times before the "as if" caught my eye.. you have very good insight; thanks for knowing me well!! 🤣😉
5 over hurts less than 25 over that all I goths just have fun
@KevinHooten-u3y It sure does!!! Of course, we all push the limits from time to time and eventually get stung. Thanks for dropping in, Kevin.
Rant away please! Your honesty and integrity shines through. If I made a TH-cam channel (and I’ve considered it) it certainly wouldn’t be for the money either. Just to help people along and share some info that some folks might find interesting or helpful. I subscribe to very very few channels and yours is a gem. Keep it up. Cheers M 👍👏
@MarkPrestwich-h6m I appreciate the kind generous words! We sure have a heck of good group of people here, don't we??!! A little help and a little chuckle now and then sure makes some worries fade away for a bit. Mark, I sure appreciate you being here and bantering with me down here; always look forward to talking to you!!
😂 like the comedy on, yes, an annoying amount of adds or type of adds. I kind of think that it’s an age and gender things since I get bombarded with the same adds and it does not matter what freaking platform on on 🤬. Hell I even search for something like a socket set on google and then bam I know see adds for socket set and tools all over the place. As well as the stiffy man problem that I must have 🤔🤣
@sunbear1973 Maybe that's the problem... just a couple of weeks ago, I asked my wife "We want to watch XXX Rated show or a cooking show?" She said "We can just watch the XXX Rated shows... you already know how to cook!" 🤣🤣 Like I mentioned, I ain't a prude; the fact that I disallowed them aggravates me. Like the sockets and searches and stuff; that's a sure-'nuff gentle reminder that they sure gather the info on us, isn't it??!! Sunbear, thank you sir for stopping in!!
Question how does 50.1 vs 40.1 air fuel oil mix effect laminar flow just thinking out loud thanks for all inflow 🤔 keep up the good work
@KevinHooten-u3y Let me start by saying "I don't know", but allow me to continue that the the 40:1 will be more viscous and have more surface tension. In carburation, if the mix gets too heavy (like 20:1) the saw will tend to want to run lean at current settings; that's not exactly due to the mix's burn rate, but more that the more-viscous gas/oil mix will not flow as much volume through the same settings on the jet. I would think it could effect it the same way in fuel/air mix; I also think it would be too minimal to measure with my rudimentary dyno. What are your thoughts??
Wy hello moonshine. I got viagra mixed up with my stool softener. I had a hard time crapping and a crappy time uh. You get the rest of it. Good to hear you rant.
@itllkeal That's a funny one right there; It's hard to find a joke that I hadn't heard... I hadn't heard that one!! Yoink .. it's mine now!!! 😉 Thanks for letting me vent a little!!
Im in Canada, I get totally different adds than you guys.
The Mounties don't need the pills like the Yanks do.
@nseric1233 I'm sure there's a joke in there if I wanted to take a chance on picking on my northern buddies!! 😉 Thanks for joining-in!
Yea yea. Good explanation
@KevinHooten-u3y Thanks Kevin!! Thanks for stopping-in and joining-in!!
My boys havent taken interest to chainsaws yet. They still like dinosaurs and dragons. But my one boy did try pull starting a 395 with one hand yesterday. He is 6 so if be had got it running i would be both scared and impressed. I got the 460 i was working on running. Now i just need to find some plastic to make it presentable. You should have tried out for nascar when you had the stiff neck for 3 days. Wouldnt have needed a neck brace.
@wierd-al_3336 Hey, there ain't nothing wrong with dinosaurs and dragons... and sandboxes, matchbox cars, and just beating on an ol coffee can as a set of drums... yes sir!! let the boys grow!! If the does get that 395 started, don't let the wife know right away 😩 Are you going with AM plastic or OEM? I want with all AM stuff on the 461 because it's for me to play; I was happy with each part that I got. I called to see if they needed me to stand-in for John Force or Don Garlits; couldn't stand-in for Danica Patrick or Dale... had to have a straight-away job; couldnt look left either 😂😉
This channel is very high on my list of faves to watch because of your great content and fresh approach to looking at things. I appreciate you sharing your experiences/experience on here.
@Houseworksaws Thanks Matt; I'm just a lot pilgrim with no map; I'm bound to get off the beaten path from time to time!!
I agree! I don't see ads anyway, too many security risks even if I wanted to.
@_droid Thanks!! I also run a free ad blocker on my 'puter; it gets most, but not all.
This won't help you as a youtube channel but it will for the viewers, you block origin will eliminate ad's. It's an app, you as a viewer see no ad's because it blocks them. Some of you won't like this approach, guess what I don't care.
@wayneanderson991 Wayne, you lost me a little.. was "you block origin" a grammatical typo or a proper noun or?? I run AdBlock Plus, and youtube throws a fit every once in a while and I have to disable for a week or two then go back to using it. Not understanding your suggestion, I don't understand how some will not like your suggestion/comment. If you are referring to the fact that they will be less revenue if ads are not watched, I'm following your thought process... at 1/3 of a cent per view, I would actually SUGGEST that people find a way to keep from watching. If it weren't for the fact that they were showing ads anyway, I probably wouldn't have chosen to monetize. Are you referring to an ad blocker that you prefer? Where to download?? Help everyone out here!!!!
The rules of this platform are like vapor……but sometimes a glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes is appreciated. I think that likes and comments go towards the payment method ? But I am guessing 😢. Some of the people actually have financial gain from this that actually make it a job, not a hobby…. I am glad to have found you corn and all😂. Keep on doing what you’re doing and I will stick around to see what you’re up to 😊
@wrstew1272 Yes sir!! The rules are ever evolving, it seems. I don't think likes and comments equal cold hard pennies; I understand that they give an indication if a specific video is "worth watching" and if they should promote it to non-subscribers and how many people the offer it to; the likes and comments are very helpful to build a channel. For me and my hobby, the likes, comments and shares just means that I can potentially share with more people like you. Thanks for being here!!
Comedy gold! LMAO! I get what you are saying. I don't like watching any ads, I haven't really noticed them on your channel. I can block them out, waiting for the skip button to come on. Keep up the good work.
@TheJohnDeereGuy Thanks!! I can't say that I "watch" them either and do run a blocker... it works about as well as using chicken wire for a fuel filter; lots get by. Every once in a while, there ain't even a skip button; I begin beating on the "mute" button like a monkey playing whack-a-mole!!
Does the brand of fix-a-flat matter? Asking for a friend.
@Kevin.L_ 😅🤣 GOLDEN!!! Tell your "friend" that you want to buy the "temporary" fix-a-flat; shouldn't last for more than 4 hours!!
@HayChaffandSawdust1 True. Some fixes are better if temporary.
Harden criminals😂😂, that was funny. I’m was getting all kinda of weird ads on a different platform, been staying off that one. I have yt premium so I don’t have to see the ads, I like to just enjoy what the creator is posting.
@BuckYaSaws Thanks Buck!! I've considered the Premium and may do it at some point; my TV, which is through my local telephone co-op is stopping the "regular" tv and is saying that I'm going to need a "smart" tv... trying to decide to knuckle under or just quit with the tv too. If my wife makes me knuckle under, will probably get premium and other on-line tv stuff and just quit the paid-version through Ma Belle!
Fortunately, I don't see any ads on any of my subscribed channels. As far as your channel, all I get is information, variety, chainsaw stuff, how to save money, and last but definitely not least, comedy. No problems here! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Love it all!
@bigmoustacheal3295 I need to find a better blocker or way to not see ads...; haying season is right around the corner and my time to watch will diminish anyway. Thanks for being here; sure am happy when I can bring a smile to someone!!
I’ve seen this same ad on many channels now not just yours. I don’t pay em much mind but understand it’s frustrating. Love the channel and what you’re doing! Keep it up cause we’re not here for the ads.
@andrewgrubb8947 Thanks Andrew!! Maybe the ads ain't directed at my channel so much as ME??!! 🤣
Brother I’m actually glad you put this out. I’m a TH-camr and didn’t know I could block ads at all! I’m in the same boat with 1 paddle and the tide is rolling in. I try to keep a family friendly channel but I do hear about the ads and it really bothers me too. Keep up the good fight Sir and I really appreciate your content. -Ray
@RayofallTrades Thanks Ray!! The place to choose ads is actually difficult to find; it is not in Studio, but in AdSense, IIRC. Thanks again Ray!!
Oh fantastic! Thank you!
Appreciate your trying to run a family friendly channel. Dropped a few that had great content but didn’t like some of the extras.
@sawnut Thanks Sawnut!! There are too dang many channels from which to choose that a person need not watch something/someone that is offensive or isn't like-minded!
Yes Sir, I also took one and it made me taller!
@Esau_1967 I never see you at the meetings, I didn't know you are one of "those" too!!! 🤣😅 I didn't know until I was told... time and time again!!!! Thanks for joining-in and giving me a chuckle!!
👍👍 you tube seems to do what it wants, when it wants. Hopefully you have some hard- core viewers that won’t mind😊
@crazyfeller5704 I hope so too; I guess it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of what's being taught to our kids and whatnot; I don't think it would bother me as much if I hadn't specifically disallowed the certain ads. Thanks Crazy Feller!!!
Lol, it seems to go with what u research, like I ordered from HL and now I get the tour on ur videos!!! Lol
@alltherpm I get that too... or just the fact of the my age and "targeted" ads; also the overall average age of the people here tend to be north of 40.
When you swallow those pills make sure you wash em down good, or you’ll get a stiff neck!
@jaysparrowhawk9388 😅🤣 I take 'em just to keep from urinating on my shoes!!!
Just curious if you have ever thought of renting or selling your Husky carb tool? The main reason I ask is I’ve been working on a 455 for a while now.Ive built probably a couple dozen stihls and older Poulans but this is my first time messing with husky just never had one before but rebuilt the saw and carb good parts and I think it’s tuned set it down come back to it the next day and hard to start or won’t idle. Got me puzzled. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.
@JackScott-v2y "If a bigger hammer doesn't fix it, the problem *MUST* be electrical!! I would fish the fuel line from the tank and hook my pressure tester where the fuel filter goes; i would want to see it it hold 7-10# of pressure or so. That will check your fuel line, carb and metering lever; (I think I understood that you rebuilt the carb, so the diaphragms should be ok). If you don't have a carburetor pressure tester... which I did not have either for a long time, they can be bought from the internet source for ~$15-$25 or so; that may or not be in your budgeted items, but a suggestion for a tool that I use OFTEN when troubleshooting and testing. If that is Ok, then I would vac/pressure test the saw (mostly for piece-of-mind; a seal can cause all kinds of curious issues. I don't really expect that is your problem, but maybe.) If you used an aftermarket cylinder, one time I had one that the impulse wasn't drilled all the way through...that was a bugger to find. Short answer would be an air leak in a seal, carb boot, impulse line, etc... or (more likely to me) a leak in the fuel line, carb gaskets, carb metering lever stiff, or metering lever set too high or too low... the hard start has been associated with a metering lever set too high; the needle doesn't seat all the way and floods the saw. I may be waaaaay off base, but from my side of the computer, those are the first things for which I would search. Hope that helps some; let me know what you find please!! Estwing makes some FINE Husky tools!!!
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 I will for sure let u know when I figure it out thanks for all the ideas. I was leaning towards the vac / pressure tester ive got a vac for breaks but don’t know that would work and no pressure either. But I love a reason to buy another tool. Haha
@JackScott-v2y My vac tester is for brakes and my pressure tester is for radiators; they are just what I already had. The carb pressure tester is a itty bity cute little bugger that's handy as a pocket on a shirt!!
OEM for the win
@jamiedalluge9472 OEM is where the smart-money is at!!
👍👍 keep up the awesomeness
@sunbear1973 Sure thing, buddy!! Thanks for watching!! It brings me a smile each time I see your comment here; thank you!!
If you want to make some cash doing this I'll send you a 455 cylinder to cut the pockets on. Let me know what is worth?
@tylerheard1279 Hey Tyler!! My email is in the description of each video.
The exhaust port area looks to be fairly different to the naked eye between oem and chinesium one.
@Alan_Hans__ Good eye!! Hope all is going well on your end of the world
Mr. you have the patience of Jobe! I bet your brain goes non-stop 32 hrs a day! But when you let us in on your concepts, it's dang sure worth it 👌. I believe that's why we keep hooked up to your channel! Love it!
@bigmoustacheal3295 Actually, "patience" is something for which I often pray; oh I'm man enough to control my temper, but it sure boils under the surface sometimes!! I can't count the number of times that I've busted a knuckle, thrown the wrench 1/2 way across a hayfield, then had to do the walk-of-shame to go fetch the wrench 'cause it's the only one I had 😉😂
Thats a good job right there, what a bummer on the scoring. I bet that dont happen again! Thank you Sir.
@mattw5729 It is a bummer... or not??!! I got practice on cutting bearing pockets again 🤷♂️ and a cheap (about $30) lesson that, like you mentioned, will stick with me. I had a cheapo AM cyl that had a blind hole for the impulse one time; that's another of my "nervous tics"!! I poke something thru the impulse nipple of every cylinder now. That first (and only) time was a bugger to find the problem. I sure ain't forgot it though!!
Thank you Sir for the tip, thats a great idea on checking the impulse!
You Sir are pretty handy to have around!!!
@mattw5729 Thanks Matt!! We sure all do a lot of learnin' from each other down here, don't we??!!
Hello Moonshine. This one is for the algorithm. I'll watch it again later whenever I have time to pay attention. Thank you
@itllkeal Just kick with a Mason Jar and put the video on "repeat" until you catch up!! 😉
now I'm watchin legacy videos
@tomintexas817 Heck yeah!! There are are actually some pretty dang good ones that didn't do near as well as I had anticipated. Hope you enjoy yourself!!
Sucks that the metal from around the spark plug fell in the cylinder and messed it up. Here is a thought. How about 2 carbs? One feeding the intake and the other feeding the Stratos. Maybe if the intake block doesn't work. I get it's kinda the same thing. Thinking out loud ya know. Thanks for the video.
@TheJohnDeereGuy Yeah, it stinks a little bit; sure glad it's a hobby and not "production" work! The two carb thing is something I had considered; not really for the performance, but for the cool factor!! If I could lag the strato carb behind the regular carb (linkage wise), I wonder if it would sound like "opening the 4-barrel" on an ol' Rochester Quadrajet?? Dual exhaust with miniature rain caps would tie it all together!!
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 heck yeah! Sounds fun. Lots of tinkering to make it come together, but the cool factor would be unbelievable.
Hey, how is it going? I haven't commented in a while, but I've been watching. I like your idea of the jam nuts on the bolts that holds the cylinder to the jug. Interesting to learn about strato saws, and working on clamshell saws. Say hi to the dogs for me.
@TheJohnDeereGuy Things are going well! It's been chilly, but the weather broke today and it's going to thaw into a muddy mess. Just picked up the small dog from the vet; she is doing well now; Kicks is ornery as ever! Good to ear from ya!
👍
@pastormike5054 Thank you, fine sir!!
Nice video. I don't have the tools, or the skills, to perform this type of work on a saw. I have a couple of Stihl 026 saws that I really want to put back in running condition and I wonder if I would be successful with Hyway or Meteor parts if I can't find reasonable used OEM parts. I don't really need another saw but I hate to not see them cut wood again.
@user-ret-cde-ret Thanks!! I think a meteor or hyway would be fine choices; I think if you call Ryan at Wolf Creek Saw Shop, he will give you his opinion if one is better than the other. I would sure not let a piston and cylinder hold me back if the rest of the carcass is ok. Worst case, I'd put an Scammazon/Fleabay one on it.
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 Thanks for your recommendations. I think I would be able to clean up the rough spots with a dremel on a replacement piston and cylinder. Perhaps a little smoothing and polish on the exhaust but would keep the intake a little more coarse to promote aerosolization or atomization of fuel. Does that make sense?
@user-ret-cde-ret It makes perfect sense!! I am anxious to hear how it turns out; I know that, for me, doing my own work if very satisfying.
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 👍
2 in a row would discourage most normal people. Good things you aren't normal I suppose.
@Kevin.L_ The first one was my fault (from way back when on the "torture text"; this is the first one that I don't consider "my fault"; the ones that ARE my fault don't bug me much; I learn from them. Abnormal ALL THE WAY!!
Disappointed in the cylinder scouring, seems like two steps forward and one step back 😢. But the “flaw” in the casting was something that was not easily found and just shows that the price point is representative of the quality control at the factory. You have the patience to overcome this setback 😅. The response time of the brown truck is getting worse as the number of boxes transported increases…..
@wrstew1272 Oh, I guess it *IS* my fault; I didn't inspect EVERY little nook and cranny; I had one AM cyl that had an impulse nipple... but the hole wasn't drilled all the way through... talk about hard to find!!! These are about like buying used equipment on a consignment auction; you know SOMETHING is wrong, you just gotta find it!! I do get a little bit of education with each cheapo cyl that I use!!! Ol Brown Santa does take a little extra time, don't it??!! Of course, scamazon shows an "expected" date that is usually a week out; it never ships until the day before... I refuse to pay extra for faster shipping; if I were to spend "extra" money, it would be for better cylinders 😂😉
👍👍 that’s really clean work- I think you could dive into the husky one!
@crazyfeller5704 Thanks Crazy!! I have done two more since this particular episode; I just finished the Poulan today; they are looking better and better with each time! Sure am happy you're here!!
all my saws are as oem as I can find most are 30+ years old 😅
@tomintexas817 I think that's sage advice!! For "using" saws, I sure like OEM; for "testing" saws, I mess up too many!!
@HayChaffandSawdust1 I just over intaked a new oem 046 piston that cost me a hundred dollars I just don't live on farmin' money 😅
@tomintexas817 Better than ruining a cyl or case, I reckon?? Unless you farm with your mailbox, farming won't pay for too many hobbies.
that's what I was sayin I got a 9-5 workin on elevators
@tomintexas817 Grain elevators or the type designed by Otis? I don't reckon i would want to work on either type; hate heights so much I don't even like thick soles on my boots!!
All my cylinders even remember vintage have missing thread spots, but tightens up great
@alltherpm I am also accustomed to seeing imperfect threads. Even that big void in the casting wouldn't really bother me; the problem being that the void contained something that was knocked loose by installing the plug the first time. Probably could seen 500 more cylinders and never see that again!! 🤯
I sanded down a clam shell thus wk .015 on my kitchen table, sanded for hrs, then used a dremal with a sand roll to lower pockets, then used a thin dremal grinding disk to cut the location grooves eye ball!! I put some of the work on my page! Great video sir!!!
@alltherpm Great deal!! Have you put it together yet? ( I ain't watched much of anyone lately; weather is breaking and I've been busy; another busy day tomorrow). I'll try to get it checked out at some point.
@HayChaffandSawdust1 im waiting on new bearings and seals, even tho the ones in the engine are new, it will make me feel warm and fuzzy, should have it together this wk end, hope my work on bearing pockets works!
@alltherpm I'm sure it will work just fine!! I'm sure you're aware, but in the event someone else is reading our comments, it is important to get the bearing pockets fairly close so that it hold the bearing JUST right; too loose and the bearing will hammer the pocket; too tight and the crank will be hard(er) to turn. I don't know what the actual tolerance is, but just be aware that the clamping force may need adjusted by sanding a little more on the bearing pockets or the base.
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 yeah I measured empty pockets then measured od of bearing, it seems to have around .oo8 squish on bearing
So it's a .750 bearing and I'm sitting at .743ish, seal seams tight so test will be setting crank in and spinning, I tried using a drill bit but by time it cut it was over the size hole I wanted even tho it was right size!! Go figure huh, cant b that easy!
After many years experience I have learned to read surface tension by what colour lipstick she’s wearing
@jaysparrowhawk9388 ROGER THAT!!!! Tequila drinking is a pretty good "tell" too... in case you weren't aware 😉😂
Good information, thanks!
@_droid You're welcome; thanks for taking a moment to join-in down here in the comments. First time I remember seeing you; if it's your first time here: welcome!! If not, welcome back!!
