Flight reviews every second Thursday of the month! I fly mostly from my home airport of SFO but you can expect flight reviews from all over the country including some international flights. For all my videos I give my honest opinion on my experience. I am not paid by any airline or company to make these videos.

NEW INTERIOR | United 737 MAX 9 | SFO-DEN | Economy
Filmed in October 2023
United’s NextGen cabin product is the best thing we've seen grace the American airline market in a while. The CEO of United announced in 2022 that all new United narrowbody aircraft will come from the factory with fresh and modern interiors featuring seatback IFE screens. Additionally, even the older narrowbodies are slowly but surely getting retrofitted as well with this new cabin product. This led to a much more pleasant flight experience and I was fortunate to fly on a very new aircraft to test this out for myself!

@@disastertom Unfortunately so and not just during landing but the whole flight. 💀 There were three babies in the rear cabin and I was seated right next to one of them. Luckily the one next to me was EXTREMELY well behaved!
Nice, i used to travel to braunschweig all the way from north east england from 1962 every 2 years to visit my grandparents. The trains were all compartments then, greetings from england.

Great job on the Video
I did this flight last march on the exact same plane, also out of that same gate. I was also on that Air New Zealand plane at 2:17 (ZK-OKO) last summer. Cool to see that you caught them both next to each other!
Too much time spent on the IFE, people are really not that interested in the details. The second meal wasn't even described or reviewed.
@@karlp8484 Thanks for the feedback! I realized that I didn’t film too much content for the second meal but I will definitely make an effort to do so in future videos. 👍
You really have to spent 10 minutes on the IFE and 20 seconds on the meal service ?
Geez people, it's just a video. If him spending time on the IFE is making you this upset then go outside and touch some grass.
you're complaining about free content, go outside.
I heard that San Diego is one of the most difficult airports for pilots to fly into. Not sure if that is true.
@@NeilHarding-ne1mh There are some pilots who might say that landing into SAN is difficult due to some challenges such as Bankers Hill and a tall parking structure right before the start of the displaced threshold. The displaced threshold is 1810 ft long, which leaves “only” 7591 ft of usable runway to touchdown on and slow down. Due to the unique position of the airport being in the middle of the city and these obstacles in the approach path, this requires pilots to come in at a slightly steeper angle than normal. The steep approach together with a shortish runway is the main reason why some might say San Diego has a difficult airport to land in but I feel like that’s just not true. In good weather, an experienced pilot will have no trouble eyeballing a stable visual approach and even a pilot with less experience would still have no issue if they have a bit of help from a non-precision approach system. Furthermore, if the weather is not so great, pilots land runway 09 which has an ILS system so overall San Diego is a pretty safe airport to land in and even if it’s not the easiest, it’s still far from being one of the hardest.
It is quite challenging because the airport, located along the harbor front, has an approach from the east to use Runway 27 that comes in over a hill, so your glide slope has to be high enough to clear the buildings and terrain, while still descending to hit the runway just above sea level. It's only about 1.5 miles between the highest point on the hill and the runway threshold. If you ever fly into San Diego, 90+% of our flights use Runway 27 because of the prevailing winds off the ocean, so sit on the left side of the aircraft for a great view of the Coronado Bridge, the harbor, and downtown San Diego (you'll be at about the same height as some of the taller buildings). Here's a video with a cockpit view of the landing into SAN: th-cam.com/video/-Kg37l0DX90/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Yi0Aws2K_9idQVci&t=399
Interesting, it’s clearly not Madeira airport but fair enough

Wow so few people hire in the channels 🙁! It seen the airline have improved(they have too if they want people to with them). First a350 too! Excellent video!
A 77W your favourite plane? Really? Cramped, noisy....but I understand it is a money maker for airlines.
@@frisolustig6349 I find that the 777-300ER has one of the nicest wing designs out of all other commercial airliners. I also like how expansive the cabin is. This aircraft is an absolute wonder from an engineering standpoint, from the GE90 engines, to one of the best gliding and handling characteristics of any widebody. I have spoken with many 777 pilots and all of them say that it is the greatest aircraft they have ever flown. The technology both in the flight deck and in the cabin is super impressive for an aircraft that was introduced in the 90s and if you ride in a newer build 777 like the ones from Swiss or United, you get nice modern features as well to complement the rest of the aircraft.
I'm taking this exact flight next summer on my way back to Portland from Zurich. I'm also taking Icelandair on the way there, hopefully things have improved.
The reason why you feel that vibration on start up is the main shaft is bent. The huge weight of the fan section bends the shaft down if the plane has been standing a long time, and the bearings take an extra frictional load as a result, until it straightens out after a few minutes. .

BA is shockingly behind in terms of onboard hospitality including the quality of food (absolutely ghastly) and the facilities or lack of them. Their business class is worse than other airlines' premium economy class. I never fly with them even if it's free.

Awesome trip report. At first I was really impressed that UA served a mid-flight snack for all passengers although the flight was 11 hours, which was not very long. But later, I found out why... I don't like they served sandwich as a second meal for a flight that's 11 hours long...

Nice video mate! If I were to have this same flight using SWA then AA and I have baggage to check in, I'd have to claim my bags in LAX and recheck them at the AA baggage counter? Sad about the second meal prior to arrival into LHR a hot bagel and yogurt would have been a way better meal than what was served. So sad AA.
@@devonsanchez8292 Hi thanks for the nice comment! So yes if you had checked in bags with SWA, then you would unfortunately have to claim your bag and re check it with AA. The only reason I was able to transfer terminals so fast is because I was only traveling with carryons.
Your videos are really good but 😢😢😢😢that rushing the video spoils the whole thing another thing that litte thing that you got to see the noice in the cabin is sick you are in a airlplane not in a church

Everything was nice service and food was excelent but what about the people in economy did they get the same treatment i bet they only got one cookie please dont rush the video you spoil the whole thing cheers jerry
Thanks for the kind comment! Service in main cabin is not a good as the one in business however the fact that American Airlines still offers a “cold meal” aka snack box is pretty impressive for this kind of a flight. You can view the main cabin experience on my video from JFK-LAX
Why you have to rush the video that spoils the whole thing cheers jerry
Delta has the roller skates on nice plane 😊😊😊😊😊
No food on a 7 hour and a half flight is just unaceptable and. Then you have to buy your own food how miserable can they get
Thanks for a nice trip report. I enjoyed it. Poor showing from BA with regard to the second meal, especially for premium economy. I am sorry about your bike. Losing checked luggage is typical British Airways. I have got some holiday coming up and your experience has helped push BA premium economy down the list of products I would like to try. Thanks!
I’m happy to help! It was a bummer about my lost baggage but only so much I could do.🤷♂️ Have a good holiday!
@@theplanefacts Thanks!
Gonna be on there at the end of August ´24, excited !
The 6-passenger compartments were pretty much standard through the 70's, so it was always a fun family trip. My mother and sister are originally from Braunschweig, but moved to the States in the late 50's. We spent many years since then traveling back to see family. We happened to make a final trip to Germany with mom in 2017. I spent hours trying to book compartment seating, and it paid off, as we made the rail trip from München to Braunschweig in a 1st class 6-person compartment. At the time I knew that it was probably the last time I would ride with mom, and I was right. We lost mom several years ago, but thanks to your video, I can keep some of those memories alive! One of my DB rail traditions is to always order an "Apfelschorle" (apple spritzer beverage) while on board. Once or twice a year, when I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll make myself the same drink at home and try to imagine I'm back on the train. Many thanks again.
Of course and I am very glad you enjoyed the video. My heartfelt condolences for your loss but I’m glad you hold those happy memories so close. The 6 passenger compartment is slowing fading as one can only see it on the ICE 1 models and a few ICE 3s but both are slowly getting refurbished. For the longest time DB ran the ICE between Frankfurt and Berlin via Braunschweig but I believe that route is now operated by the ICE 4. That’s cool that’s your family is from Braunschweig because that is the city where my father studied. My family is from the next city over Wolfenbüttel which is where I was living during the time this video was filmed. Overall I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice comment.
@@theplanefacts My father is originally from Lüdenscheid, and he was studying in Braunschweig (Deutsche Müllerschule), where he met my mother. My father is still with us, doing well at 95!

Awesome Trip Report!
Thanks bro! It was great flying with you!
Were you flying on the 757-200 series version 1 or 2 layout? I am flying from PDX to KEF in August and want to pick a good seat in economy, so knowing which version flies between these two cities would be very helpful. It looks like layout 1 from your apparent seat just behind the wing based on your window seat view.
I'm from Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching my video! Love having all the international support!!
where is the safety video
I’m honestly not sure why they didn’t show the safety video. They opted for a manual safety briefing instead
Thank you for this excellent video. Question: If you're in Business class on AA on that route and are sitting in a window seat and want to come out, do you have to "do a hurdle" if the aisle seat person is lying flat?
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! To answer your question; yes. In these seats you have to either awkwardly step over your seat mate if they are sleeping or ask them to let you out if they are awake. It isn’t the most optimal set up but the seats are significantly more comfortable than economy so that makes it worth the upgrade. Thanks for watching!
@@theplanefacts Thank you so much for your response!
Thanks for this video. Although these cabins are getting a bit tired, I really like the three-class setup. Also, with only 102 seats these flights board quickly. The new XLRs will only have 20 lie flat seats instead of 30 so unfortunately I think getting one will become more difficult and expensive. I believe that although there were origninally 16 A321T in the fleet one of them was scrapped after an incident that damaged a wing.
Interesting, I did not know that one was scrapped and yes I totally think as will raise their business class ticket prices
Traveled WT+ from Santiago to London this 2024 and the breakfast was a warm meal! Can’t believe your second meal was just that sandwich and kitkat :/

I have flown Icelandic numerous times and love the 757. Boeing is stupid for not continuing production of them. One thing that I miss about Icelandic was their meal services on all Economy flights. Flew to Stockholm in 2001 from Minneapolis and had wonderful meal service. That is gone on the base Econ tickets. I have also flown on numerous other airlines and Icelandair's stewardesses are gorgeous
That’s interesting to hear about the service. Definitely a bummer that they stopped but I do still like the airline nonetheless. I also totally agree about the 757. Such an amazing aircraft!!
@@theplanefacts Honestly, the 737 Max 10 is around the same size as the 757, except 1.5 times weaker, but has the same if not more seating. I heard Iceland Air is replacing the 757s with A321 NEO LR and XLRs, I'm flying with them in a few months, excited but not excited for the older 757s.
