I'm taking this exact flight next summer on my way back to Portland from Zurich. I'm also taking Icelandair on the way there, hopefully things have improved.
Were you flying on the 757-200 series version 1 or 2 layout? I am flying from PDX to KEF in August and want to pick a good seat in economy, so knowing which version flies between these two cities would be very helpful. It looks like layout 1 from your apparent seat just behind the wing based on your window seat view.
looks like the girl in front of him when getting off the plane was able to bring on an away luggage....which is thicker than what icelandair says you can bring...
I have flown Icelandic numerous times and love the 757. Boeing is stupid for not continuing production of them. One thing that I miss about Icelandic was their meal services on all Economy flights. Flew to Stockholm in 2001 from Minneapolis and had wonderful meal service. That is gone on the base Econ tickets. I have also flown on numerous other airlines and Icelandair's stewardesses are gorgeous
That’s interesting to hear about the service. Definitely a bummer that they stopped but I do still like the airline nonetheless. I also totally agree about the 757. Such an amazing aircraft!!
@@theplanefacts Honestly, the 737 Max 10 is around the same size as the 757, except 1.5 times weaker, but has the same if not more seating. I heard Iceland Air is replacing the 757s with A321 NEO LR and XLRs, I'm flying with them in a few months, excited but not excited for the older 757s.
I do agree with the seats feeling a little tight but didn´t bother me too much. The FA issue I feel like its not common as I've flown them many times and its never been an issue. As for the food you shouldn't expect to get free food in a flight and it´s not like they hide the fact that food needs to be purchased.
That’s good to hear that Icelandair doesn’t have a habit of over working their crew because seeing that on my flight was not pleasant. However, I will have to disagree with you on the inflight meal. Icelandair is a full service airlines that operates international flights over the Atlantic, and the fact that they couldn’t even provide a complimentary snack of a flight that is 8 hours is completely unacceptable.
I will say that the service is disappointing but I do hold out hope because Iceland is truly a beautiful country and they deserve a national airline to be proud of.
It's a bit primitive, but the price for a round trip from Seattle to Frankfurt is hard to beat. 1 carry on and 1 checked bag, plus they offer a 3 day stop over in Iceland at no extra charge ($920). I visited family in Germany but the stopover was nice because Iceland is a gorgeous place, almost like another planet

I flew on this 757 in the same seat from KEF-PDX a few months ago!
Crazy!! I Hope you had a nice flight 👍
i recently took a icelandair 757 it was a great experience!!!
Something really odd is that Icelandair likes to purchase second hand jets. This applies to some of the 737 MAX they've taken delivery of.
That's just to get the jets quicker to fulfil the demand. You have to wait years to get new jets and they are also more expensive.
Flying Iceland Air business class to Copenhagen from PDX in a couple of weeks. Will be interesting to see how it compares to other airlines.
I’m sure it will be a lot nicer than in economy lol. Besides I’m sure the value for money is pretty good with Icelandair

did you check in a bag. How much did it cost? Were they strict with the bag weight. Did they allow people to gate check carry ons fro free

I have never expected lots of free food on an airplane

true@@theplanefacts
@@theplanefactsyeah that’s INSANE actually
they didnt provide free meals? wow
Keflavik is actually south west of Reykjavik 👍
Yes you are totally correct! I really have to start being more careful when making my videos 😂
No Lazytown?? WTF!
No food on a 7 hour and a half flight is just unaceptable and. Then you have to buy your own food how miserable can they get
Do you speak Icelandic?
No, unfortunately I do not speak Icelandic but I think it’s a fascinating language and I would try to learn it if it wasn’t so extremely difficult.
thnx for the vid. No, they wont change. They are rock bottom. Even their so called business class is only a prem eco.
I will say that the service is disappointing but I do hold out hope because Iceland is truly a beautiful country and they deserve a national airline to be proud of.
without any doubt. But Icelandair is so primitive and run down. I wish the small country a much more exclusive carrier.@@theplanefacts
