      Thank you! I worked remotely until going all in on the marathon in late 2023. Luckily I had built enough savings to keep me going over the next 9-10months (thanks mostly to mum and dads very reasonable dig prices). At this point I’m coaching a few athletes and making a small amount from TH-cam so can continue to support my lifestyle which doesn’t require much beyond food, rent and running shoes

With 3 months of not being able to do those, I didn’t see any negative effects so just left them out. Core I do twice a week on top of this heavy lifting in the gym. Aye, the canal, west park loop and beckett track are all brilliant but wait to you see the free cinder track up the top of Horsforth, explore the miles of hard packed trails nearby that lead to the canal and the street round the corner that's a flat perfect circle exactly 400m circumference! Leeds was made for running. Moved here from Scotland in 2006 and best thing I ever did.

    • @Ryan.Thomson
      @Ryan.Thomson 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh I actually like the sound of that track. I’ve been doing pretty much all my morning sessions next to the power station and if that was lit at night Leeds would be the perfect running spot

    • @jsrunningfitness
      @jsrunningfitness 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ the cinder track isn’t lit but the circle street round the corner from it works well. Search “Southway” in Maps, the run up there is a good warm up. Quiet enough to run on the road. Visibility is decent at the power station at night, I done all my marathon effort long runs on the 3mile loop there.

    All good and everything to want to be around faster athletes, but what you are trying to get out of them you can only get yourself with your own mind if you are talking about the long run (ie your whole life) Find your own chi from within brother, you can't use anyone elses secondhand motivation or "chi" in the long game. I haven't watched your videos before but what strikes me is your seemingly poor mindset and lack on conviction in yourself. Are you running because you love running? Running should be your friend not adversary. "Poor runs" or feeling terrible ought to be "great runnning lessons" because that is exactly what they are if you listen to your body acutely as you run. Good luck and keep pushing, but remember you are you😁

    • @Ryan.Thomson
      @Ryan.Thomson 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can assure you that I run because I love it and have done so for the past 20 years. I’ve never shied away from the fact that sometimes it’s hard and worse than you expect sometimes but this is the case for anything when you try to pursue it at a high level. So if “chi” means I’ll never run a faster marathon then “chi” ain’t for me 🤷‍♂️

    Phil’s floats were your threshold pace! Wow. However, I think you’ll improve quickly with these guys, and other quality runners.

      Sometimes I forget how good he is at running and then he reminds me by recovering at my session pace. Yeah fingers crossed! Already seeing some good benefits it seems!

      😂 that’s the real reason but she told me she doesn’t want to be a star so I had to make some stuff up about running instead

    Great video, Ryan! Looking forward to seeing your Leeds videos. For threshold intervals, what do you think is the best combo (5x3min, 6x2min, 4x8min) or something else? I'm new to doing these and currently do 4x8min and seems to do the job! Glasgow or Leeds for running, which is best? =D

    • @Ryan.Thomson
      @Ryan.Thomson 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I just try to mix it up but don’t feel there’s too much difference based on how you do it. Longer reps may give a little bit more benefit but shorter reps allow you to run a bit quicker so try to use a mix of both if you can! I prefer running in Leeds during the day (maybe because the routes are fresh and I usually have company) but it lacks a good nighttime loop so overall Glasgow probably wins

    How do yiu remember all these complex sessions when you're out running and knackered? Do you write them down on a piece of paper or have them programmed in your watch or just remember all the times, speeds and recovery intervals?

    • @Ryan.Thomson
      @Ryan.Thomson 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I usually just remember them by going over them in my head a lot before. This is made a lot easier by the fact that they tend to repeat themselves. I program some sessions into my watch but usually the ones that are easier to program
