Reaper's quite easy to deal with because the few powerful ranged attacks you can blind, their attacks are quite telegraphed and they'll struggle to keep up if you just kite and CC them.

@@Algeyr In this instance even if you were to blind the Reaper (This is obviously considering if this reaper had any brain) can just cleanse and unblock and strip your boons. But yeah, this reaper just wasn't doing anything.

The amount increases with your WvW rank, it also depends whether you did the wood chest in the previous week and on your team's current place in the skirmish.

Eles and mesmers mostly. Eles because all auras are strong vs this build, cata has pretty much perma stab and there's plenty of projectile hate. They usually lack chase potential though. They are usually kitable but executing your "game plan" vs. eles almost never works :D Mesmers mostly due the ability to just be immune to counter-pressure almost completely for the entire beginning of a fight, so you'll have to survive that and then slip enough damage through. They can also go for extra reflects and mantra of distraction + power block can shut down your mobility. Honorary mention to Deadeyes because when you chase them their projectile block negates most of your ranged pressure while they'll hit you with theirs, but as soon as they approach you your stuff is likely to hit, reveal them and trip them over :)

If a glassy WB or anything properly hits you it's gonna hurt, my stats give me a bit of leeway (to usually not die to the immediate part of the opening alone) but from there it's still a matter of quickly using a dodge, block, cc or blind. And then recover from the damage you did take or keep cc'ing / pressuring the opponent so they don't do any further damage. Weave in those blinds, dazes / knockbacks and leaps in-between dodges and blocks any time you can - that 1vs2 was a really tough fight and I couldn't keep it up in the end (also made some mistakes).

WB: Avoid engagements / opening bursts, kite and pressure at range, be ready to chain-CC when their stab runs out. Thief: depends a lot on what build they're running (S/D, D/P, Rifle or scepter Specter) Harb: Kite and CC, have a block ready for the elite elixir and you should be good. More specific matchup advice I find really hard to do, because it depends so much on how your opponents play and which parts of the builds you still need practice with. Always open for questions though :)

Main pro I'd say it's very flexible in how you can approach different matchups and that is very interactive and fun to play (imo), con is there's some obvious limits in numbers / stuff you'll be able to handle / escape once you're in a fight, and you're susceptible to CC, projectile blocks and opponents countering your CC / conds. Something evading, or having stab and resistance while attacking you makes this build feel very squishy, because usually CC and blind prevent a lot of the pressure. 3. Try it - I think you can get a base level of success with it in a reasonable time (though you might wanna start with 1 kit less), but there's and endless amount of things to learn regarding certain situations and matchups because the build is so versatile.

Glad that you're having fun with it! You can really do a lot with holo, especially in WvW. I haven't stopped learning new things yet :D

yeahhhhhhhhh, tough situations and would have been nice to get some duels going, but also had some good fights. I can recommend watching the one at the end :)

I'm too fond of how tools currently plays to make the switch - I'd pretty much miss all the traits. Inventions has some good major traits, but the minors pale in comparison to tools imo.

Just what I am calling the build, because it's a holosmith yeeting opponents with personal battering ram 🐏

I like #4 and #5 of Egun as well, and even #3 can be good to proc Explosive ENtrance through obstacles and projectile blocks. But yeah, the stunbreak is a slot you can change to another one you prefer. Other heals work too, but I like the kit best.

It's still SD / tools holo at its core :) Using ram instead of turret started as a meme, but with the 2 charges it can be devastating for builds that are open to CCs. Its TB skill is very strong imo. Egun as a stunbreak is just a personal choice / preference since forever for me and the rest of the build's pretty standard imo. ( I get asked about using Pistol a lot, but I think it's just the most versatile addition to round out the build. I'd have liked to get into mace more, but since that's not been available for that long I just never felt that comfortable with it. And imo (weirdly enough the spec's designated weapon) Sword was always the worst choice in that regard for holo, as forge provides pretty much everything Sword does in better: melee attacks, leap and a mid range projectile attack. And the only thing missing - quickness - is sorta covered by Kinetic Battery. )

Pistol #2 does decent damage and very good to track and proc reveals on stealthed enemies. #3 has little cast time, so it easily fits between other skills and adds some damage (especially with bounces). Both proc explosive entrance as well, which is pretty much the only thing #1 is good for :D So most damage comes from holo, the tool belt skills and damage traits (and sometimes Mortar when the situation calls for it). Pistol is mostly a quick filler whenever other options would be clunkier / slower to use. As was already said, Egun's TB skill is the stunbreak of the build.
