Thanks for this video. Tis a struggle finding this kind of info when trading to multi use dad car.
Sure thing. And as soon as those kids grow up this video may be of use to you too. th-cam.com/video/sV8LyZTEx3U/w-d-xo.html
Always appreciate your dedication to our Evoras. You got the rhythm!
Making me laugh! Thanks, man. Some might say, I always have a rhythm.
Shizazzle-looks great! And wow, a couple of tricky things to watch out for with that A-pillar replacement. First, the Philips head screw at the top (which appeared to be overtightened causing the original piece to crack-or maybe adding a washer on the installation of the new piece to spread the load?) and second, having to use the 3-M tape to stick the cover on in exactly the right place (the first time as there is no going back)! Question: does the weave on the driver’s side CF A-pillar cover have the weave going in the opposite direction (kind of upper outside to lower inside when installed)?
You are correct. The Philips head screw was likely overtightened on the original A-pillar. And adding a washer. There is good preventative maintenance. Also, yes. The weave is mirrored on the opposite part. I put the two parts next to each other on the bench here and you can see it sort of creates that herringbone pattern between the two pieces. Go to 1:30 of the part one/ unboxing video. th-cam.com/video/URdehBCvJk0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vxTDlVkbEsz3o7Cu
@@GoodmorningGoodnight Ah, very good! Thanks for posting--and that mod sure looks good! Any plans for other CF pieces? Ideas might include doing the roof in glossy CF vinyl, rear wing in CF (or CF vinyl-covered), the black sail panel just in front of the rear window. GRP has that piece and it only costs one kidney!
@rfgf1rfgf1 it was never my plan to go full carbon fiber with this car. If I did another carbon piece it would probably be the rear sail panel. My sail panel is cracked and I've repaired it somewhat in a previous video. I also wrapped it. But I know it's imperfect. That being said, as you mentioned. It's a pricey bit of kit. So, not high on my list to replace. My biggest plan would be simply to drive the car more. It was so warm the other day that I was able to go out. Enjoy the Lotus again. The wife and I took it for our ride and then picked up the kids from school. They were surprised!
I’m not personally a fan of CF overlays as they are somewhat antithetical to the original Chapman philosophy. But each to their own. Looks great on your car and being it’s the real deal and not an overlay, it fits the ethos.
@lewbarrett I'm with you. Lighter than what it replaced
🎉 Perfect - thank you!
@@F5Xs Happy to be of service to the lotus community!
Nice, thank you once again !
@@neightarch of course
Next time you use any kind of double sided tape on the body, undo one side and fold out the backing about an inch or 2 to make it like a "pull tab" instead of ripping the entire thing off. That way once it's in place, you can pull the backing off then press down and apply pressure when the trim, splitter, spoiler or any other body panel you're using double sided tape is in place.
@@bboixtc well I can try that method on the driver's side! Good idea
First!
you were up early on new years' day!
Ooh, so awesome!!! Those look incredible! And hey, what the heck, they actually replace a part that is prone to cracking. Darn you, now I’m going to “have to” put these on my 400! Great video! And as an aside, as we say at the track-any addition of CF parts is good for 2 seconds/lap!
@@rfgf1rfgf1 hahah. Exactly. And because they're up so, they lower the center of gravity by 0.01 of a millimeter! Lol

Brilliant video, my UK driver's side headlamp has moved outboard 2-3mm so now the rear of the headlamp is not flush and the headlamp washer will not return to its flush position. I'll definitely be doing this job myself after watching your video 👍
@@keithmiller3731 Yes. I I found the Lotus is actually very easy to work on. There's just very little in the way of documentation around to help you. So I'm excited to share what I find.
Job done, just the rear bolts adjusted which made the headlamp flush again. Cheers!
@keithmiller3731 perfect. I love when a job is easy to do! Thanks for the update and enjoy the drive!
I just stumbled over your video after installing the Eonon unit in my son’s SP25 GT, which has the Bose sound system. Those outputs that you connected @7:25 confused me too, so I left that whole harness disconnected, while I checked for power-on etc. To my amazement, the whole system worked perfectly without it ! Fader, balance, subwoofer, all ok ! ie. The 4x outputs from the Eonon are just taped away, and the interface harness is not fitted. The only explanation I have is that they may have been separate component outputs for the CD stacker module of the original head unit ? Therefore, no longer needed ?
@@DizzConnected yes. There's a bundle of outputs on the unit. It had like 20 different outputs. Some of which I left in the box and never hooked up. I just needed it to do what I needed it to do. They have it so it can be set up to do other things like GPS with its own system using a 4G card. If you didn't want to use your phone, for example. Lots of options with the Eonon. I've since sold the car. But I was happy with my time with it

Great tutorial video, got to try on my Evora s now
@@No-gr2sx yes. Good luck 🍀
Hey bro, when you run that green wire from a separate little harness in the back that's supposed to be the reverse trigger to the main harness, did it wind up going into that empty number 2 wire? I did the same but my evora doesn't trigger reverse camera unless I manually go into the camera function on the Alpine
yes - once I got it to clip in with the correct gauge wire, it worked perfectly in that #2 pin location. Check the wiring diagram on the head unit you're taking out and compare it to what you're putting in. Everything should be in the same location, but even Alpine to Alpine sometimes they move a wire location.
Thank you for this video!

Did you replace the sensor? And why?
@@naif.1044 turns out it was not the knock sensor. It was a broken wire inside the engine on the wire loom that connected to the knock sensor. Original knock sensor was fine. And once I replaced the wire loom it worked perfectly.
Great review of the Dutch Grand Prix experience! I’m still amazed at how small the Zandvoort circuit is-that’s a tight track for the “bigger” F1 cars these days, and with their speed-wow! Thanks for posting, and wow, what a show!!!
@@rfgf1rfgf1 indeed. It's tight. Finally for 2026 I think the F1 cars are getting slightly smaller. Hopefully that will help. It's still quite tight in some of the corners.

Great video.
@@gihans.2168 thank you
Just did both of these - thanks for the video - BUT! It has the spongebob "one eternity later" (sick reference) but it only took me about 6-7 pumps (with the pump and bottle you linked) for the fluid to start spilling back out??? It feels like at least half the bottle is gone, and the fluid coming out the bottom drain is clean when I tested it - but am I missing something? Did you actually pump for a while or is it really just a couple pumps? I have it jacked up from only the rear but my jack stands aren't even maxxed out. I barely had clearance for the bottle under the trans case. It doesn't feel like the same amount went in that came out. Maybe I'm crazy?
@@super679theoriginal so you should be putting in 2.3 l. It should certainly be more than a few pumps. I'm imagining it would be something like 50 pumps or 60 pumps. I would just double check that you had the pump tube fully inserted into the hole and it wasn't starting to pump out accidentally right off the bat. You can always check how much you have left in the bottle, to work it backwards. So you don't have quite enough fluid in there.
@@GoodmorningGoodnight Tilting the car back (jacking from the front while on stands in the back) definitely got more in. The other thing is if you have the hose angled up slightly (with the black holder clip on) it hits something and kinda bounces out. Maybe my pump had more throughput because it was still probably only total 20 pumps, but I definitely got most of the 3l bottle in (especially because of the wasted spillage was probably about .4-5 L haha) Thanks for the reply as always. In terms of getting in touch with other owners - I heard you mention there's a facebook group. Whats it called?
@@super679theoriginal great news. For Facebook. Look up Lotus Evora Owners group on Facebook. There's 2 groups. One is more European. One is more American. I'm active in both.
