Ηello. Ι live in Athens, Greece. The last 35 years I make a living as a Creative in the ad business, but music has always been my true love. Originally a guitarist in a new wave band in the 80s, playing with a 4 channel Fostex in the 90s, then experimenting with Reason and Cubase in the 00s. During the first COVID lockdown I realised I could now have all the synths I dreamed of but couldn't afford in the 80's. So my synth frenzy begun. I am constantly searching for the perfect setup, a synth orchestra with which i can meditate and forget myself. My aim is to produce mesmerising pieces that make the brain travel. I started this channel mainly to record my progress with synths but it is true that interaction with fellow syntheads is very inspiring and gives an extra motive. I also have a band project called Elephants in a Room with two synth friends. We have an LP in major platforms. Thank you for reading this!

So I ordered one in June and it's in my hands two weeks now. I loved my Lyra8 so the Solar seemed a natural follow up to my meditating approach to music. This is a synth you can get lost for hours. Contrary to the Lyra which can only produce gloomy soundscapes, the Solar is open to more light. It is very easy to play especially for non keyboard players like me. Patch Notes: The Lyra 8 plays a continuous drone plus occasional notes. The OXI one sequences the Leipzig with a random lfo on velocity which in turn modulates the filter and the pitch of the second oscillator of the Leipzig. The internal sequencer of the Leipzig accentuates specific notes. The DFAM goes through the Zen Delay with the filter cutting off all bass so that it replaces the hihats. ...

It's been a while since I last posted a video.For this one I just put on a chord progression on the OXI one miraculous sequencer in harmonising mode and started tweaking. After three years of experimentations with my set up this is the first time I don't feel the urge to add a component. At last I feel complete. Hope it lasts.

what a trip.....................................I have a GR-1, and wish the internal reverb were more useful..............this is glorius
@@willswitchcraft Hi Will! I used to have a GR1 but only when I upgraded I realised that how much a very large reverb adds to the granular sound. Anyway I am sure you have some good external reverb or even from the DAW. For me the only problem with both these machines is that there is only one output instead of four separate ones. I'm not usually one to leave "This synth should have this feature or it's a dealbreaker" comments as I am usually happy to follow the designers original vision and accept a product for what it is. But.... It is an absolute crime that this unit only comes with a stereo pair of outputs. I would happily of paid another 50% for 8 outs as 4 stereo pairs, or even just an ADAT. I think for me that would be near perfect... That said, I'm gonna get me one anyway. 🫡

Fantastic song! So how long did it last :) ...from your description.."hope it lasts". I just finished my studio last year after 16 long years of building it back up from nothing. Lost my vintage studio in my divorce of 2008, been living in poverty ever since. I thought I was done too, but added the Roland Gaia2 when it dropped in price this year. I have been a great lover of the original Gaia for over 10 years, use it on every song. I will buy any digital synth that has a panel full of physical controls and little need for menu because they are so rare.

Were you a GR-1 owner before this? Undecided on granular, but Tasty Chips GR-1 is the only way I would enter into it. I like the way TC think about UI. (been subtractive and FM designer for over 35 years).
Yes, I loved it so much that I decided to get the MEGA. New firmware will soon be released for the GR1 which will massively improve the file system. If you are into design you will love it. Happy new year!

@@ThanasisPapathanasiou1963 oh! since you've had both, are the faders improved on the Mega? the faders on my original GR-1 are not great, especially the caps which are very wobbly. (still love it though)
