- SYNTH DIARY 7/22 It seems that this setup instantly produces nice things. These are the last 3 minutes of an 8 minute jam. OXI one in harmonising mode is magic. Although there is actually no chord progression here (just one chord with alterations every now and then) the fact that everything follows the alterations makes it sound interesting and never become boring by repetition.
I always use the UDO Super6 as a pad/atmospheric environment. It is always luscious and moving and my only synth that can do that. I really have to further explore the sounds it can produce and not stick just to pads.
The Leipzig V3 and the Zen Delay are sort of made for each other. Either for bass or for leads the sound is always present and full of character. Which is why I also love my Dreadbox Erebus. In my synth orchestra it plays the role of the guitar. (Guitar is my actual instrument-I don't play keys). Digitakt has lost its sequencing role to the OXI. I still love it for what it can do but at the moment I just use it for the kick. While jamming, the TR6s is much more immediate and playable. I discovered that the Hologram Microcosm is fantastic for percussion so I use it all the time with the TR6s. (And that's why I keep the kick separate).
In my rig there is also a Microfreak which I still like for the versatility, a Dreadbox Nyx that doesn't contribute to the total since its sound is quite close to the Erebus and the Digitone which I have a feel that the FM sound doesn't resonate with me but I surely have to give it more chances.
I have upgraded my iphone so now I have a fisheye -sort of-lens. I quite like the mirroring edit in DaVinci Resolve and I use it all the time in the last videos. I always liked Buddhist mandalas and they actually have a mesmerising effect.
Today is my birthday, I'm 59 now, still creative, always grateful.
The world is getting to strange paths, from Covid straight to war, the future seems dark at the moment. I stand with Ukraine and its people and hope the world moves soon towards a brighter direction.
Peace. And music.
Belated Happy Birthday mate! 🎂(didn't get the notification for this cool jam! Really enjoyed it, in particular the FM-like sound of the Erebus!)
In troubled times, it's uplifting to see somebody so immersed in the euphoria of creating music. Just the sort of birthday present I would love to give to myself too! Also I feel that the world would be a better place if we all added 'more mesmerising energy'.
What a nice comment. Thank you so much Joseph, you made my day!
Happy bday :)
