GUNS OF BRIXTON An Apocalyptic Cover by Franz Mesmer with Hardware Synths

The current situation in Ukraine brought in my mind this Clash classic which I love. It is a song of violence and counter violence. I resisted the populist temptation to change the title to Guns of Kiyv and proceeded with OXIone as the centre of the jam. The song is very easy to play and program, it is actually a 4 chord loop repeating itself. On the first take I jammed over the chords with all my weapons. Vermona Perfourmer on bass and lead 1, Dreadbox Erebus on lead 2 and Leipzig V3 on lead 3. This is what you see in the video. Drums are held by the Digitakt. Then, I recorded 3 takes of vocals and edited (a lot more than normally).
I added some sound footage from a BBC news coverage where a flash interrupts the link and an explosion is heard. Funnily enough the sound of the siren was in tune with the song so I decided to use it throughout.
It is true that the mood of these days is almost apocalyptic and it was normal to feel it in the air. Hence the green colouring-made in DaVinci Resolve. (I wonder how many alternatives of ...presenting my living room are left out there).
