Horizon Chase 1/Turbo is very fun to play with a racing wheel (at least on Switch) - it's super relaxing, and really captures the arcade feel (as opposed to something more intense, like Hot Shot Racing)

A ps3, retro arch and a controller is all you need, mentioning triple A companies like Ubisoft and grinding leaves a bad taste that i can't willingly swallow, sorry!

Of all the games you presented, one caught my eye on the spot: Gravel. I went to steam and bought the game and all of it's DLC's for just less than 5€ - now this is wintersale price, normally the price would be just over 50€. I'm going to install and can't wait the beginning of the weekend, because I think this weekend is going to be Gravel weekend. Thank you for bringing this and other games under my attention. Certain of those - who drive on 4 wheels- I will look in some where in the future except for Flat Out 4 which I already have and I love playing. I agree completely that concerning racetracks it is limited, but they all are real fun. So driving them with a new car, or the same but better equiped car for getting yet more XP points, is not a problem. Now as with all the possible side-kicks like gymcana (which I don't even try anymore) or the wreckage rampage (which I rarely play - must be really needing to work out my nerves) well, some people might like them, I do not, yet it doesn't put one gram down to my appreciation since you're not obliged to play them.

I love the Power Rangers game - but I wish they would have went with a side scrolling Zord Battle system instead of the first person style fights they have.

Ganryu 2 is down to a very cheap £1.29

Gravel is a complete hidden gem

Shakedown Hawaii is down to £2.39 at the moment

Apart from a couple of bot matches I've never touched the multiplayer side of BFII but I loved the campaign.

No Forza Horizon? That game's so good that it became a mainstay on my PC. The arcade gameplay and physics are so far ahead of the competition that it totally killed games like Gravel for me. ...No Wreckfest?

Slam and Roll , is superb playing with friends, you are right! But also playing alone never feels alone with the arcade mode panels telling you who is before you on leaderboards. So much fun.😊

WOW. I didn't expect to find this many games to add to my backlog. That power rangers game looks fantastic. I love arcade games because you can just jump in without much of a time commitment. Jitsu Squad is a great arcade beatem up.

FlatOut 2. Specifically the original version found on GOG. Now there is a racer that does not get enough attention. Why the GOG version? It has the better soundtrack. The later Flatout games meanwhile are an utter insult to the series. Yes, that includes 4. The fact that you had it over the second game is close to unforgivable.

I know it has it's own origin game but Elevator Action gives some fairly strong Persian Gulf Inferno vibes too. Great list! Horizon Chase is awesome (and that soundtrack!), really keen to give Rush Rally a go now, looks great, cheers.

I always felt like the screen-clearing super attack that you can only use every minute or two is a tacit admission that one would rather avoid the dreary moment-to-moment of most of the gameplay. "You get to avoid having to fight all these same-y enemies!" Yeah, I can avoid fighting all of them, and get back a bunch of my free time in the bargain. The cheap turtle shell attacks in Mario Karts are necessary to break up the flat, simplistic racing. Hey, you sagi YOUR jimbo, alright, buddy?
