my fav mounting spot for a boost gauge is the cluster where "Lancer" is, you need to do a bit of modifying and the gauge has to be 45mm, but it looks stealthy.
First things first...... 1)check for rust. 2)Check under the floor mats and look at the carpet condition, 3)look at the bolts on the engine (that is if the seller is promoting the car as unmolested), 4)check vin number on engine bay and title, 5)turn the car on take it for a spin let it idle for at least 10 minutes and see if there's smoke coming from tailpipe, if starts to smoke you have a bad turbo 6)try revving the engine and hear for any type of knocking, 7)make sure you drive it, let turbo kick in see if the car goes straight under acceleration, if it pulls left or right= suspension work or car was wreck and was not reported thus clean carfax report. 8)look at the body lines, make sure all line up......... Yeah I looked into those. Just not something I care to deal with.
Best to get a cheap multimeter than those light screwdriver testers. There not expensive & good for more things, amp drains, battery voltage etc.
Perhaps, but a tool that does one thing so perfect, and without batteries, is handy
