I'm seriously considering retiring to Portugal in about 5 years, but a lot of Americans expats who are on a budget are leaving Portugal because they can n longer afford it. Many of them are moving to Thailand, which is another country I'm attracted to. I will have modest savings and eventually a decent SS benefit at age 70, but my total monthly budget will be about $4500 in 2030 USD, which likely won't be enough if inflation continues at its current pace.

I've only cruised once, but my takeaway was the same - not enough time in each port! We prefer to spend a couple days at least. We cruised with Princess, and the food was not as good as we expected based on reviews. I'd consider a river cruise with extra days at the start and finish, though. Looking forward to your new home reveal!

Hi, I've been watching your videos since you opened your channel About me I'm Portuguese, originally from the island of Madeira, but today I've been living in England, the city of London, for 26 years. pot, I like seeing and listening to natural and original videos about the content you present in your writing, as much as I do. I really like your videos and comments but now to a problem that I believe is not your fault but TH-cam's er about doubled language in this case for Portuguese This for me takes away the value and quality of your videos I want to hear the original language on flights and English And if I want dubbed language I would have this option through the TH-cam mechanism I confess that I already tried but I didn't find a way to solve this problem I'm the only person, you TH-camrs, who started complaining about this problem on the Yotube website If this doesn't happen I will stop being written to all channels with double language which is horrible thanks

The tour you’ve done around the Canary Islands has been quite abstract, and in reality, you haven’t visited any places of true interest, except for the shops and cafes. In other words, the report doesn't represent the true beauty that the islands have to offer at all... Mount Teide has been a major absentee in the report... It's a shame to come to Tenerife and not visit the second highest peak in Europe and a dormant volcano. What you’ve seen doesn't represent the Canary Islands at all... and the Mexican restaurant... I had a good laugh ( or cry) about that!

Lovely to have a break for your birthday, and to reset, but I agree, Madeira is by far the best compared to the Canaries, so I guess it was great to be back for their ostentatious Christmas and New Year celebrations in the sun and greenery. We’re looking forward to our customary January visit to avoid some of the worst English weather. Thank you for your positive vids.

Now I live for 3 years in Coimbra, with nightmarish interruptions in Argentina every year. I invested 60+ years of my life there until becoming a widower in 2017. In 2025 there will be a new Continente in São Vicente, so I’ll try to take a look at São Vicente combining it with the New Year fireworks in Funchal, which is a little too hot for me in summer!!

I loved Dough's definition of "floating retirement home." 🤣😅Spanish would be very easy for me; "Castellano" is the official language in Argentina, where I lived a lot of years before coming in 2021 to Coimbra. I’m a fan of Portugal and hope to make it to Funchal for the 1st of January 2025 fireworks! 🤣

The last seconds of the video deserves several likes...funny😂 Watching your video I already thought you'll leave the island and I was a bit sad, but nice that you stay there and only change the place. I was in Madeira the last time in May and I miss the island vibs, but unfortunately my project there needs more time than expected and so I had no real reason to return. But I promise, I'll find one somewhere in February or March to return. And maybe we could meet up. Until then, all the best, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2025!

Very nice video ~ thank you. I had planed a cruise to the Canaries, then Covid came. So that trip was $4000 cruise plus airfare from Phoenix, AZ. Had to cancel it all. So your video was very nice. Thank you again and Best Wishes for 2025 (ugh...those years fly by). Grant
