@@debflynn1544 Actually, that are Alps too - Slovenian part of the Alps. And way more beautiful. Not grey and dark as other parts of the Alps (dolomite) but bright, almost white and !WARNING! way more dangerous too. They are from a fragile and delicate limestone and far from so compact as dolomite.
So guys be careful if you climb our beautiful mountains. Check twice every stone you grab or step on.

    Hello,
you've must have stayed low, because there is no shower in the high mountain huts, at many places you even have to go outside to toilet. It is not me complaining, I love it the way it is. I am just telling this because there are some weirdos who expect hotel luxury @ 2000 meters and higher. It is ridiculous. At those places everyone has to be happy to have a roof above his head when cold night falls (not to mention dangerous summer storms). Getting some warm food after a whole day hike for me the ultimate happiness 😍😍😍

    • @Track_Us_Down
      @Track_Us_Down  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hello! Apologies for slow reply! Busy time of year. You are so right about people’s crazy expectations! When your long hiking it’s just so nice to have a warm place and warm food. No need for a 5 star resort! And yes you’re correct we didn’t go too high , as that portion of our trip was cancelled by the hostel as there had been a storm and trees were down. Our next location was accommodating and allowed us to check in a day early. All in all amazing Slovenia and definitely will return. Thanks for watching! Happy New Year! 🥂M&D

Doug - your favorite food "ričet". Pronunciation for an English speaking maybe try like ree-chat. I think it should sound right in Slovenian language. Reeset doesn't sound right. However, points for effort. Slovenian is a damn difficult language. Monique, burek is actually not really slovenian food. It was brought in Slovenia from south. I think origin of burek has Turkish origin since came from areas which were after Turkish invasion controlled by Ottoman Impire (Bosnia and Serbia).
In late atumn or winter season try "krvaice" (Blood sausages) or "pečenice" (baked pork sausages) with sour turnip or sour cabbage and cooked potato (that's pretty tipical slovenian food).. Besides, 3-4 days for Ljubljana - if you really want to explore and really experience Ljubljana - you need 2 weeks.
A big plus for hiking equip warnings and physical preparation stress! 👍👌Well done! Our Mountain rescue service deals every year with so many unnecessary accidents and risks because people are not adequate equipped and/or prepared. Our mountains aren't the higher, but they can be tricky and dangerous if they are underestimated. Our mountains are beautiful, very bright ("white"). However, this beauty comes from very fragile limestone and weather can be changed in an hour. So, be well equipped and prepared.
Huts - careful! Not all huts are so luxurious as you talk. Depends by location and type of the hut. But all huts will provide you with warmth and food.
    Otherwise - good work!
My tips - Doug, if you like history - you really should visit the WWI museum in Kobarid and Predjama castle.
Otherwis also Postojna cave and Škocjan cave are really worth to see.

Your video about Slovenia´s title surprised me really a lot. I´m in Mr Putin´s archives due to my father, so I have a prejudice about everything that was in the eastern block (I´m a Lithuanian citizen). First of all: Numbeo:
Purchasing Power Index 83.54 Moderate Safety Index 76.15 High Health Care Index 66 High
Climate Index 76.11 High Cost of Living Index 49.24 Low Property Price to Income Ratio 12.92 High
Traffic Commute Time Index 25.39 Very Low Pollution Index 22.25 Low ƒ Quality of Life Index: 178.01 Very High.
That was a nice surprise !! Let´s see the vid !! Ljubljiana is a marvel, your hike in the Julian Alps another. In Lithuania we also have this fairy tales (Vitautas on the horse, etc). You mention the Lord of the Rings: I´ts now raining a lot here in Coimbra. Some 50 Km east of Coimbra, in the woods, there are a lot of homes of Hobbits and some Elves! (You have this tiny houses also in Madeira, I think in Santana, it´s 4 a vid ! ). I hope they have suffered no damage due to the intense rain!! Lake Bled: 476 m as per Google. Elevations: some to 1000m. Lovely !!! Like your helmets, I have mine here too, a Bell. But now temperatures (Meteoblue) are 12 C for the highs, and 5 degrees Celsius for the lows!! 2025 !!

Nice comment. One clarification though, Slovenia or ex Yugoslavia was NEVER in the eastern block. Not took part of the Warsaw pact either. It was one of the founder states of the non-aligned movement. Though it had a socialistic regime it was far, faaaar away from what the Soviet style comunistic regimes looked like. We had a lot of cultural things in common, but just to clarify that. It always gets "thrown in the same basket" as the rest of the eastern block where it was way different. One of the most powerful passports in the world at the time, the lifestyle wasn't so bad since the economic loans came from the east and the west, government also much less strict and allimposing as in the ussr...

@@nevaf.s.5358 agreed, life was really cool back in the time. Also, Slovenia doesn't belong either politically, either from geographic perspective to eastern block. Geographically it is Central Europe, politically it was a part of Jugoslavia, which was a category of its own 😂

I don't understand where are people, that are visiting us, finding the information that Slovenia is an eastern european country? I actually really am interested in that. Did you google it, or was it just an assumption because we are slavic nation? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that if we would be eastern europe we would be offended or something, but we are literally centra (or west) from the roman empire times. The only way you could say that we are eastern is if you say that we belonged to the eastern block. And even then we were not under Kremlin command. Btw, is Austria considered eastern country? Because the last time I checked the maps they had land further to the east then slovenia. Heck, even geographical center of europe is more east then we are :) Ok, enough rant. Good video though! :)
