Dusk - Inventing the "Boomer" Shooter
Letter website (formerly bird): x.com/ZombieHobo49
The 'Cord: discord.gg/fxGeXztsxY
So I recently played Dusk and man oh man was that game awesome. It's taken me awhile to get too, it came out in 2018 and I've owned it for like 5 years but just never got around to it. But I've finally gotten to it after all this time and it was worth it. I think this game legitimately stands alongside the old classics in quality which is made even more impressive since it's the effort of one man with a singular vision. David Szymanski has since gone on to become a minor titan of the industry and deservedly so. If this dude had a team and resources, I can't even imagine what he could accomplish.
Also let me know what you think of the new additions to the format.

Twitter: x.com/ZombieHobo49 Discord: discord.gg/fxGeXztsxY So I recently played Duke Nukem 3D and it was a lot of fun to revisit it. Last time I played it was probably 2016 or so. DreadOut - The First Indonesian Horror Game
มุมมอง 2K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Twitter: x.com/ZombieHobo49 Discord: discord.gg/fxGeXztsxY So I recently played DreadOut and it was a pretty interesting experience being that it's a video game emerging from a nation that doesn't have much of an active development industry. That seems to be slowly changing, as I have noticed more small-scale projects emerging from Indonesia, so it seems like the devs of DreadOut were at least ...
Dread Templar - Quake Redux
มุมมอง 80621 วันที่ผ่านมา
So I recently played Dread Templar and enjoyed it a good bit. It feels like it plays it a little safe with regards to overall creative vision and I think the developer probably could've done more to make it stand out from the pack, but in its current form, it's a really good shooter that is well worth adding to your library if you're into first-person shooters. Additionally, the design of the m...
Diluvian Ultra - 1/3rd of a Great Boomer Shooter
มุมมอง 549หลายเดือนก่อน
So I recently played Diluvian Ultra and it was really fun until I beat after like one episode. That was a really good one episode though, a very fast paced and dynamic shooter with a vibrant artstyle and a really neat world. The more I think about it, the more the business model behind this game confuses me, but either way, I enjoyed my time with this thing and hope the team can actually finish...
Dex - Cyberpunk Metroidvania
มุมมอง 823หลายเดือนก่อน
So I recently played Dex and it made me nostalgic for that whole trend a decade ago where there were like a thousand indie platformers a day, which is something I never thought I'd say. It's a pretty neat game that I think fans of the genre will love though I doubt it'll probably be held up to something like Axiom Verge or Bloodstained. I didn't really play a lot of the games that were part of ...
Dead Age - Darkest Dungeon: Zombie Apocalypse Edition
มุมมอง 1.8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
So I recently played Dead Age and was fairly unsuccessful with my run of it but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It's fairly challenging but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's as punishing as XCom or anything like that. The developers compared it a lot to Final Fantasy, which is something I can see, but I think it has a lot more in common with Darkest Dungeon, specifically the metagame elements....

Absolutely loved the video. Didn't expect such high energy and quality from a channel this underground. Are you, by chance, planning to make a video on Ultrakill? Looking through your past content - it wouldn't be too far from the regularly scheduled programming, and I bet it would make for a great video that'll scoop up some of that game's content-starved, but loyal fanbase
I probably will but only when it leaves early access.
This is actually my favorite Carma, yes it has its flaws but i loved almost everything about it. The mixture of crazy missions and just fun races, the huge vehicles park, the amazing urban locations, the darker tone, the soundtrack, lots of great things about this underrated gem. And yes, i grew up playing Carma 1 and 2, and i love them too.
Yeah, the atmosphere and world was probably the only thing I liked other than the vehicle design.
can you do a video on the soldier of fortune series?
At some point, yeah.
I'll gift you some games. What's your steam profile?
Sure thing fam: zombiehobo49. Fair warning if you do gift me anything: I can't guarantee that it'll get a video made on it.
FEAR does the same thing with Logitech devices. Must be some kinda quirk with Monolith’s engine.
Yeh, I remember reading that it had a similar issue.
Duke 64 kinda shows how you could do a new Duke Nukem game, if you wanted to take the extreme route of sanitizing. It still kept the action movie stuff, just not so much the horny elements. You can keep the testosterone abusing Arnold Schwarzenegger thing, that's way too important to remove.
one thing I like about game development is game development. What I find interesting is game development.
Same tbh.
Just wanted to say I respect both the good bad and the ugly and army of darkness posters 🤘
I think those Russian gasmask filters contain asbestos
I know I get fucked up on it for fun.
Always felt sorry for the limbless cart-dogs. Hope you got that gp-5 filter cleaned and or made after 1970s
Its been mentioned before but in a reboot, seqaul etc write Duke like how he was in Bulletstorm DLC, to quote another comment a "womanizing egomaniac, with a heart of gold" and actually Trishka Novak would be great characterization for Bombshell (if she differs then Shelly from Ion Fury)
1:42 hope thats not an original filter lol
BloodGDX only came out in 2017. Before then the same author made BloodCM, a total conversion to EDuke32. Not to be confused with NBlood, a proper reverse engineering.
What a hot fuckin script, SSS+ tier my man
Thnx homie, I appreciate it.
10:17 Please read Justine by Masque De Sade, and his unfinished work: 120 days of sodom
No
CHAOS IS RESTLESS 🗣️🗣️
So many newer boomer shoots owe their success to Dusk!
I would argue pretty much all of them do.
Cool gas mask and great review about dusk also this game looks like hi billy red neck game 🎉
I was happy till he explained what guro was...
Then you got happier.
A Gigadump of every shitty meme of the last few years! 🤣🤣👏
very very gud 👍
Hrot but scawwy
Live action bits are fun, just need to increase the volume on those bits. keep doing what YOU think is fun!
I think Your room looks like we all imagined
Idk what you mean.
It was the first FPS game that had realistic levels that looked like real places If anyone wants the megaton edition its on the pirate bay, the files are easy to get
IDK why, but the first thing I thought when I saw you in that gas mask was the gas mask wearing man in the video for Hell Broke Luce by Tom Waits. Btw nice posters
I'll have to watch that vid now lol. Also thnx.
Using the original GP-5 filter with asbestos ?
Idk what's in it but probably not.
Fuckin hell of a game. The only game I have liked more in the past 6 years in cultic.
This and Cultic are def the two best the genre has to offer.
the mod is meant to be a kind of spiritual successor to Peace's Like Us, since that previous mod features a similar premise (but without the math invasion) where Black Mesa and the Xen aliens are allies and work together (both mods also feature a similar sequence where you end up in a strange other world with transparent enemies) another interesting tidbit that I discovered through the mods end credits, is that most of the architecture in the other world was directly based on designs made by the 18th century French architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux, its most obvious in the second area you get teleported too which is almost an exact copy of one of Ledoux's designs (specifically "Project for the ideal city of Chaux: House of supervisors of the source of the Loue"), right down to the two little shacks with waterwheels! (side note: as I was writing this, I went to check that I got the amount of water wheels right, and I noticed that the maps featuring Ledoux's designs are actually called ks_mop_ledoux1 and 2!) I think Koumei Satou's mods are some of my all time favourites, both in concept and execution
Dude has some very specific interests that he shares with the rest of the world, that's for sure lol.
@@snesbagel oh 2 other things 1. according to comments under the uploads of the mods ost, some of the music in the mod is inspired by the soundtrack to the film Koyaanisqatsi 2. 1:45 I didn't realise you could use the gravity gun on those mines, that makes that section a whole lot easier (when I played the mod I got past them by hiding in the rooms while they exploded)
I've always thought about giving this game a go but I just can't get past the graphics. Gameplay seems allright tho.
That's funny, graphical style is one of the biggest parts of the appeal.
You should try Dusk HD. Improvement in literally every way and fixes the bad graphics that make the original not very fun.
Voice over or install a mic in the mask. You sound too muffled. OR play into it and really crank up the muffle for comedic effect. Additionally being able to see your eyes is... uncanny. Like a mannequin is talking. I'd suggest either *taking the mask off* before talking, wearing it about your neck as you talk, OR tinting the eyes some how. Alternatively you can play into the uncanny nature of it.
That's sort of what I was trying to go for.
@@snesbagel It is very different, not sure it is working, but maybe I just need to get used to it.
I know people compare Dusk to Quake, for obvious reasons, but to me it felt like what Blood would have played like if it were 3D. The movement, detailed environments, and higher enemy count with lower health just made me think Blood. Also, don't worry Hobo, I got your Lovecraft reference in Alone in the Dark. I'll always get your Weird Lit references.
my favorite fps ever, and i`ve been playing them since i was like 12 with quake
👍
Oh man, I sold off my GP-5 repro to an old aquaintence before the beer virus hit and I was so mad lmao
Would've been the most sigma thing imaginable to just wear that around during qurantine lol.
Whoa!!!!! Super surprises in store! And you know your mom actually lived in Royersford (Rofo).
Maybe buy a lav mic you can shove inside the gasmask for better audio quality, otherwise I enjoyed the live sections immensly.
This is actually a great idea, thnx fam.
@@snesbagel glad you found my input useful.
you make me want to play this game man.
That's my job lol.
@@snesbagel you are doing a damn good job
Legends tell tale of the Zombi Gopnik who garnered a GP-5 gasmask found in a barrel of cosmoline at the bottom of the Pripyat after a fortnight bender on radioactive krokodil. After donning the mask, with the reaction of Radiation, Cosmoline, & Sores from injection, the mask was forever fused to his face. With each day grew the tale of the Zombie-Hobo's conquest to dominate all the dumpsters of Chernobyl, and occasionally upload mid videogame reviews, and the zone was forever changed.
respect for wearing a gp5 for that long, mine is a bit small (i have a big head) and is a pain in the ass to wear
Nyah-lathotep
Doesn't that GP-5 have asbestos in it's filter or some other poisonous shit?
Idk probably.
Yes. Never install the original filter.
I like the live action sections. Reminds me of older youtube videos. Keep it up
To think I got educated on guro by a snork
Ppl don't give us enough credit. STALKER did immeasurable damage to our people.
@@snesbagelnot our fault your legs are worth money
I remember recommending this and im glad you got around to it. Definitely one of my favorite boomer shooters and one of my favorite shooters in general. Its a true spritual successor to quake
Yeah, it's a great game and I'm glad I finally played it lol.

I love dex, beat it on my PS Vita

I could still prolly goon to it.
