Leandros, "The Codex Astartes leaves no room for doubt!" Titus, "Then I'm reporting you for breaking protocol." Leandros, "What do you mean?" Titus, "If you feel I'm tainted, you should have reported me to our Chaplain. Let the investigation be done in house. Now that you have contacted the bloody Inquisition..." Inquisitor Thrax, "I can hear you!" Titus, "I hope you can! Now the whole company, and indeed all Ultramarines, are now suspect. The Inquisition will scrutinize us, our actions, our deeds, our honors by chasing shadows. All because you broke protocol, while also accusing me of breaking protocol."

Sorry but other the part about hiding himself and be broken, and weak, I totally and fully disagree. Leandros as NOT redeem himself. He as simply fall even deeper. Become even more twisted, become more hypocrit and obsessed. If there is ONE brother close to fall to Chaos and be corrupt by it, it's Leandros. He is weak. Of mind, heart, and spirit.

I love Leandros as a character. They've set this dude up so damn ripe for character growth and I'm here for it. Don't get me wrong, yeah, he's a huge tool. I certainly don't like him as an individual but for the potential that he represents. I want to see Guilliman appear in SM3, but more than that I want to see Leandros become an Ultramarine fitting of the chapter.

Alot of people dont realize the scale of time between the two games. The difference between now and the war of 1812 essentially. Thats a lot of time for a lot of things to happen. Again. There is ALOT of time for Leandos to get the private pyle treatmeant. The decades of "training" and "reeducation" (essentially getting the astartes equipment of a lock in a sock) he endures and the "tatical oversight" that practically left him for dead in the heat of battle. I can see that he HAD to be a chappin not as a promotion or out of glory but because he's essentially alone. Isolated in a chapter of brothers. He was allowed to begin the steps to become a chaplin because Calgar could not allow that type of behavior no matter how justified to continue as it seeds discountent and affects unity. If one battle brother can be isolated and essentially left to die then another could as well and that couldn't be allowed. Only the pure Primaris show any type of respect for his rank and character because they weren't influence by the other's. Leandros could have started a civil war with the centuries of mistreatment he's endured and could have rallied the primaris if they were also given the Lamentor treatment

  • @leelime9857

Man fuck this guy 😂 hes more of a wet blanket than i ever knew Posible oversight in the lore if im remembering correctly dont marines have to serve in the scouts first then they advance to the devistators and finally they become a battle brother of the line so leandros would of had decades of actual combat experience so if he was chosen for the bording party as a brother of the line for the eldar ship he'd have to have been a battle hardened veteran not a rookie.... Also also didnt the inquisitor from the forgeworld turn out to have been possesed by a demon all along and was notorious for keeping astarties prisioner torturing them and killing them even when no taint could be found he hated the marines and killed as many as he could before he was exposed and killed I could be totally wrong but cut a forgetful grognard some slack 😂

Leandros has the potential for a very interesting character arc. The thing is, he is correct to be concerned about Titus' ability to handle warp artifacts apparently without harm. Based on the end of Space Marine 2, it is implied that Titus may be a hidden Saint of the Emperor, but it is just as possible that the whole thing is Tzeentch having a giggle, before he warpsplodes Titus' head. He *can* be an asshole like that. So it is kind of necessary to be suspicious of something that seems too good to be true like that. It may be true, or it may be a warp god about to burst out of their chest. Leandros' sin was not suspicion, even to the degree he exhibited. Rather it was bypassing the proper channels. It could be an interesting symmetry where they find a thread of corruption that they try to run to ground. Through the story it appears that Leandros suspects Titus of being the source, but in the end it turns out it was Leandros, his ridged adherence to the Codex partly protecting him from it, and he calls the Inquisition on himself. I could see an ending where the Inquisition and Grey Knights show up, Titus thinks Leandros has called them down on him, when Leandros reveals he called them there for himself. Close out with an admission that calling the Inquisition on Titus was the wrong way to handle that, but when the Chaplain is suspect that is the correct Codex response would just cap it off with an awesome magnificent bastard moment.

What never made any sense to me was HOW was a Random Tactical Dude-Bro who's seemingly barely out of the Scout Company. Had the ABILITY to SUMMON THE EMPEROR-DAMNED INQUISITION! The most he should be able to do, is go back to the Battle Barge and cry to the Chaplain! Yeah no, every random Tactical Marine of the Ultramarines has a Personal Inquisitor with a BLACK TEMPLAR Retinue, on call. So dont even get me Started on his new Job. Its absolutely utter bullshit and doesnt make any sense. EDIT: Also, the idea that this chuckle-fudge who began to Worship the Codex Astartes as if it was Lectitio Divinitatus is a joke. This doesnt make him the Most Qualified to be a Chaplain, its the exact opposite. He is so misguided and confused, that he should not have been allowed within Light Years of the Position of a Chaplain!

I see so many people simping for titus despite their every argument flying in the face of the lore. Pick up some books bro's and broettes 1. It is NOT a chaplains job to deal with warp taint, that is the ordo malleus and had titus been handed to his chapter it would have been the librarius that decided his fate NOT the chaplaincy. It is categorical that leandros was obeying imperial law by reporting titus to them. 2. His actions against the codex would have seen him exiled at best but most likely executed as was nearly done to ventris. As is CLEARLY shown during the uriel vebtris series. 3. Ultramarines are the example for obedience to the codex, they consider themselves an example to all other space marines and cannot allow deviation even if it leads to defeat. This is shown clearly again in the uriel ventris series and is clearly shown to be categorical. 4. As shown during space marine 2, leandros was correct titus was in fact touched by tzeentch and allowed a lord of change within touching distance of calgar himself. Meaning by all rights the chapter master is now a puppet. 4. Leandros would have been promoted because in obeying imperial law instead of handing titus the chapter and handing him to the inquisition he offered his caotain a chance of redemption his chapter never could have. He saved his brother by following the law dogmatically. Prime chaplain material. 5. Your simping for titus character is blinding you to the fact he is a poor space marine and a worse ultramarine, he is the architect of his own fate. 6. Bear in mind the very first thing we see titus do is break the codex (law to the ultramarines) for no good reason, only getting worse from there. 7. It is clear warp taint is the responsibility of malleus, this has always been the lore. 8. The reason leandros viewed the codex so dogmatically is because ALL ULTRAMARINES DO as intended and demanded by pre heresy guilliman. The idea its a guidebook is straight up contradicted by all of the lore so far LEANDROS WAS CATEGORICALLY IN THE RIGHT

  • @НиколайЛамберт

I think hes deeply insecure about not being bright enough to know how to think and interpret things for himself, so he sticks to the codex word for word because it tells him what to think. And to no longer suspect Titus would be to admit thay he was wrong, thereby the codex which propped up his entire world view would be proven to be fallible. No way, easier to double down and convince yourself that the codex (and his dogmatic trestment of it) is absolute and correct, and that kind of fervency is sought after for chaplain aspirants. So he gets this honoured spot among gigachad therapist councellors who are (in the books in particular) emotionally mature for a space marine, and act as the textbook definition of stoicism. They are the psychological anchor for a company, and are venerated for their effect on the men simply by their ability to lead by example. But Leandros just doesnt fit that bill. Its so obvious how fragile he is underneath his facade and thats why him getting a spot among the legends like Grimaldus, Astorath and Lemartes really rubs me the wrong way

yeah people that blame him for "snitching" or try to make him out to be a bad guy, kind of do not know much about 40k. but touching a warp infused item... is a massive red flag. people seem to think the Space marines are a bunch of just super human warriors that are blood thirsty killers or angels of death. but they have massive amounts of in fighting and political strife within their Chapters and between Chapters. Most Ultra Marines would agree more with Leandros as a whole than Titus. Chapters like Space wolves do not give a flying fuck about the codex for the most part. and the black templars definitely do not, they have their own codes they go by "oath of sigismund" but to put it into context as to how some chapters follow the Codex almost to the letter, Guilliman broke the codex rules by commanding a full legion called the unnumbered sons. this made his own sons the Ultra marines a bit wary because this was against the Codex.

I think titus himself addresses the issue pretty well in spacemarine 2 He said that he himself failed to quell the doubt in leandros by constantly brushing off his concerns and while yes, leandros is indeed "A little bitch". Titus is all the more of a gigachad for accepting that as his mentor, leandros becoming a little bitch was inpart due to his failings as a proper mentor Titus brushes off leandro's concern's at the start of the game by simply telling leandros "try to keep up" when leandros said "The codex does not support this action" he doesn't explain or give possibilities as to why he could resist the warp when leandros questions how he survived. Finally, the death of sidonus was the nail in the coffin, in leandros' eyes, sidonus' death was due to titus' failure to follow the codex and likely due to warp corruption. In spacemarine 2 we see more of this. Titus is all the more hurt from his past experiences and starts to make the same mistakes of brushing off his squadmate's concerns. But thanks to the trust of charon being able to expose the chaos sorcerer at the last moment, he is able to finally see that expecting blind faith from those under his command is no better than leandros' blind faith in the codex and that he needs to properly address the concerns of those under his command and he becomes all the better because of it.

I can't bring myself to hate leandros, despite what he did he demonstrated blind unwavering faith to the codex. Him becoming a chaplain is the reward of his devotion, not him "climbing the ranks" in titus' absence.
