Trying to define what defines a glitch is nearly impossible. Anything the devs didn’t intend? Well then playing fast at all isn’t intended. I’m sorry you don’t enjoy this game like the rest of us do, but then simply don’t click and don’t watch. Spread your negativity elsewhere.

@feargames4270 a glitch is the software not working how it was intended. It literally has a definition. Walking through walls is a glitch

How do you define intention? The devs knew about first person wall climbing but left it in due to them thinking it was fun. Does that make it not a glitch as it was left in intentionally? Your argument falls apart super fast. We used to have a glitchless category years ago, but we removed it as nobody could agree upon what should and shouldn’t be allowed. “Intent” cannot be measured.

@@feargames4270 yes, a glitch that is purposely not fixed is still a glitch. Nothing about my argument falls apart. Intent absolutely can be measured. If a wall is not supposed to be able to be walked through, but you use a bug to do it anyway, THAT is something that isn't supposed to happen. It is considered a glitch. There are absolutely still speedrun categories that disqualify anyone that use glitches to exploit the games

Yes there are, in other games, sure. In this series, most people drawn to speedrunning it enjoy the glitches and just how busted this game can be. If you wanted to play it without glitches that’s chill, fine by me, anyone playing this game is a good thing to me, I adore this game after all. At the end of the day I’m not going to convince you and you aren’t going to convince me, I’ll keep enjoying what I do, and you don’t have to watch :) but seriously, calling what other people enjoy lame just because you don’t enjoy is so damn stupid. Literally just do not engage, problem solved.

Yeah smolg broke my heart this run but it is a hard split to be fair hahaha. Swingshots are faster on snivelak by about 5s however you lose more than 5s to get or store the swingshot the rest of the run. So we only use it in regular ng+ :)

"One of the coolest games ever made" is the most accurate statement ever. Somehow this game only gets cooler every year that I play, which is a damn lot in a row now hahaha. Glad you enjoyed!

Clipping there is by using the camera. In all 3 of the original titles, the camera is a physical object with Collision, and as such with specific setups and input timings you can clip through walls or launch yourself into the air. All very cool stuff!

Wait, people figured out they can cause collision issues with the camera? How does the camera even have collision? This is some next level glitch exploitation. I would have never thought the camera would actually collide into Clank and force him through the wall like that.

You can do it on Up Your Arsenal single player too with the whip midair, and in this game on any black label ps2 version, or European PS2 version, or as in this case, in our black label mod for ps3.

Black label “MOD” is the key word there, unfortunately we never did get an official PS3 black label release. Due to a variety of reasons too long for a comment, we decided to make a mod to port it. It’s highly regarded by the community :)

So what aspects of the black label version were added in the mod? The planet selection menu wasn't one of them apparently, because this footage uses the wider Greatest Hits window for the planet list.

The only things which were changed were the movement tech related changes as that is what affects speedrunning. We don’t care about the rest of it. Basically we removed the delay between multiple charges and un-patched midair tech. That is it, but it makes a huge change. Oh, and we also made everything in the ship shack cost 5 raritanium to simulate a glitch on black label where you can buy anything for 5 raritanium. Does not affect ng* categories however

Yeah it’s wicked what you can do in this game, and in this series. Best speed game series hands down in my opinion, worth checking them all out!

Ps2 version has a lot more movement tech options (like all the midair jumping and charging you saw) which normally doesn’t exist on ps3 version. PS3 version has much MUCH better loads though which lends to a better “experience” but worse and less fun gameplay. To solve this, we simply made a mod which UNpatches (re enables) this tech on ps3, so we could enjoy the best of both worlds. Just good for fun and speedrunning prosperity really. Technically not an official version

As cool as that would be, nah. All it does is patch the movement tech from black label onto ps3, and then fake “ship shack glitch” by setting all the ship upgrade prices to 5 raritanium. We didn’t bother with anything else as it does not affect the speedrun.

Thanks mate! Yeah early days of a grind with a new and hard route so I’ve just gotta take whatever happens for now. Goal is sub 6, which will take a bit of time for sure but it will be SICK

Lap skip happens when you enter the first checkpoint of the lap for exactly one frame then leave it backwards again on the next frame. This way it keeps your lap progression at 1 instead of 0, so when you cross the line again it progresses the lap. Do it 3 times and you have a fast race. To get consistent really is just practise, but even then you will still just mess it up sometimes since it is hard. Proper guides for it are in the ratchet speedrunning discord

In depth guide in the ratchet discord, but essentially be at a wall where its possible, face towards the gamera, hold down, press and quickly release L1, tap circle.

Personal preference, theres about 3 versions of dome clip which works on ps2, just whichever one feels best to you :)

you have to go to the arena for the electrolyzer, even tho you can you wont be able to continue on other planets
