When I first attempted this challenge I thought it was impossible. I couldn't produce enough steel to completely fill the Dreadnought. After a few weeks of work I finally got it!

In this one, I took on the challenge of the Refugees scenario, survivor difficulty, zero deaths, save all the lords, and the people at the red flag camp.
Endurance, Builders, Deathless, Extreme, with Random Hazards, under 2 hours!
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
When I first started this challenge I didn't think it was possible. Going deathless on the 'Builders" on the rifts map, on extreme difficulty, with random hazards was brutal. The random hazards made it very difficult to practice. I eventually got my build order down and knew where to go for scouting. This is one challenge I am glad to move on from.

Daamn felt bad, was hoping for a full dread.
Nice work on the challenge! One thing i like about your challenge videos, is because of how quickly you blow through the game, some events are triggered way out of order lol. 27:23 - Militia literally about to start killing all engineers. Engineers the next day- 28:28 "Boss, y u let people say bad things about us on speaker tower :("
I never really tried to get through winterhome but, the few times i did i never even got past the first objective on normal difficulty lol. It must have taken you a lot of testing to do this on survivor, great work! My head canon to this run from the way you played: the captain is one of those people that talk so fast, that people will do anything he tells them to, simply because his fast talk leaves them too confused to protest or refuse. This is why everyone was ready to overthrow the captain the whole run but just kept going along with what he tells them to do.
Hey dude, since you're such an expert at this game, can you clarify how settlements work in endless? Upgrading them doesn't give any benefit right? not even faster favor increase?
if you use an emergency shift on any workplace and its your first time using it, you wont have anyone die, however if you use it again anywhere else you will have someone die. If you put coal, steel or wood piles or wreckeges as your first emergency shift, you can run multiple of them. A few wood piles can run emergency shitf at the same time or one at the start of the game and one at the end. In that case no one will die but if you run emergency shift on any workplace after that you will trigger the death. Also if you use it on a workplace and then on a pile you will still trigger the death on the pile. As long as you dont use it anywhere else but on piles you can safely build coal thumpers and make people gather it during the night if you are low on coal, just to give an example
I JUST found Frostpunk 1 AND your content. So glad I can dig through your vids - hoping you'll come back and continue to stream from time to time.
i spent 13 hours to compleate this dlc 🫠
you know, i'm desperate to finish survivor mode. always fcked up. today i spent freaking 8 hours just to keep losing either getting kicked out cause of high discontent (freak i have high hope as well and alr maintained my city) or just the shit exploded
This scenario is easy mode with all the automatons lol
Really impressive work mate!
Great work on this one mate, I finally managed to get through survivor by using most of your early game. I tried a heap of things, rushing hot houses, getting beacon up ASAP, getting multiple scouts etc, all of that never worked. I think the key thing that worked for me was the sawdust meals, keeping everyone housed and keeping up the medical posts, as soon as you start getting an influx of sick and they're not getting treated you start to spiral I ended up letting in all the lords and resolving the conflict only in a day or so, it feels like the first 12 days or so are make or break!
Man, you are awesome! I can’t beat hard mode 😅
You mean Endless Rifts on hard? I just beat it myself with hazzards enabled, after losing it on Extreme. But I did save scum the hazzard so that it lands on something that doesn't affect me too much or at all. For example the hazzard for hothouses when not even researched hothouses.
--04F there it is! He's cheating, in my game it's -20C
nice channel.. all videos so far have been fun to watch.. hope you dive deep in frostpunk 2 content as well
Tonight, I first played this mission on easy for the only labours achievement. Was real easy... Thought I could do the only engineers and survivor achievement in one go.👀👀 I got hammered. Then I watch this video *and regret not praying enough as a child so I wouldn't get all kinds of mental problems as an adult* and I'm impressed, playing at speed really fast while I get stressed out at speed go. We all are build different. Several times in this video I could not keep up with your clicking even thou I have 200 hours in the game.
My biggest fault was food. First run I could build the hunters/gathers (name I do not recall) lodge a day late. On survivor people start dying as soon as they get hungry. I hate when games duck with food. Both easy mode were they can go a few days not feeling hungry to extreme mode were they die after 24 hours without food.
thx to this i manage to get the achievement too. with a semi good ending ofc (full civilians, full food but not enough steel for the last room). We save so many = full civilians and all cabins Many died in riots = you decide hit people who running to dreadnough (the one event who say "some will die") With plenty of supplies = full rations Wary but hopeful = more than 50 engineers on dreadnough despite of decisions in this extreme difficulty... who cares as long you complete the scenario.
I have no idea how to do this scenario deathless. The first 9 days were perfect for me. I had all of the piles cleared, several places in the frostland discovered, steel works and two sawmills, four medical posts, two workshops, a coal thumper with two gathering posts, and I always get a few random people who get mild frostbite when the temperature drops by two levels. Their limb is amputated, and I put down a care house for them and sign the prosthetics law for the future. And the "amputee's suicide" event always occurs. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Just a note for anyone attempting this in 2024: they seem to have lowered the income rate for gathering posts. I tried following this guide exactly and kept running out of coal. Then I noticed his coal gathering post runs dry around day 24, while mine still had around 500 left. It’s still doable, you just have to manage your coal use a little more efficiently. Great speed run regardless!
To my knowledge that haven't patch anything regarding the economics of gathering posts. Check out how many you have sick, it can make a big difference. For example, if you unassign all works at night, and then re-assign before the work shift, healthy workers are used first. Keeping things as close to 100% efficiency can make a big difference.
Thank you to help me out with this food thing. It drove me crazy failing all the time on that plague of locusts.
How are you able to run emergency shift on those buildings without people dying? Is it the use of the foreman? At least 1 person always dies on me.
Nahhh is the bro taking all the cocaine pills
Hi Spike, famous!
Great job! I just have one question: why not builing automatons and put them into coal mines?
tried this run on survivor about 10 times now, can never get that hope up to 50%. Tried again after watching this, followed a similar build still narrowly failed - sadge.
Play with my wife each scenario one by one, both playing on survivor and then watching your videos after beat it. I'm 53m in but I think outpost on iron the the first thing that will made this a lot easier, second is research for upgraded outpost depot which is speed up train and steel depo, it opens after evacuation starts to count down, and third is that you can dismantle steel at night and instantly build it to reset foreman and 24h. I beat full dreadnought on 3rd play. Great and pretty intense scenario :) We decided to go through the first game before starting to play second. Hope second will be at least the same
Ultimate challenge on EASY...
56:00 I think it's better to create new logistics bays rather than expanding the current ones. At least with housing, new houses give you 20 shelter, while the first and second expansion increase it to 25 and 30. Might be better to expand once you've already made at least two districts.
Bravo! Nive idea and nice run!
Play it in extreme mode, u noob!
This comment is a noob comment, see below. Survivor Mode: Is equivalent to Extreme difficulty, with added constraints: no pause functionality, progress is only saved upon game exit, no separate saves allowed.
After just barely scraping by on hard (while also sending the lords away) and getting at least a dozen discontent ultimatums along the way, I had to come and watch someone wipe up the floor with this map. When you think New Home and The Arks are easy on hard, and then you try Refugees, it's a rather big jump in difficulty.
Hahha so funny to see a elite frostpunk player dont know what to do at all xD 😂😂😂😂 The game isnt intuitive at all. I hope you will make a video guide how this game actually works, but right now it doesnt look really appealing
Amazing, wouldnt have done it without your playthrough, thank you!
Love your commentary and thoughtprocess
Amazing gameplay!
All hail the Captain! well played
I'd be interested in hearing your reviews of FP2, even if reviews aren't your thing usually.
"Real world gets in the way of everything". Truer words were never spoken!!! Stay strong and take your time man. We really appreciate your content.
frostpunk 2 when sir
been re-watching your speedruns from time to time. so happy you're taking up FP2! can't wait.
1:10:50 - I had a thought around that! I don't think they liked everyone building 25 medical posts and then cancelling the construction to 'cheat' storage of wood in Frostpunk 1. So now, once you start building, it *must* finish which completely removes that exploit
I have no doubt the developers worked hard on this game to try to make a worthy sequel with added depth/complexity. I can see the goal of scaling up gameplay mechanics from a start-up colony with a dictatorial mayor to a more fully fledged city/nation with greater levels of abstraction and complex political dynamics. But when one of the best - if not the best - Frostpunk 1 players in the world - Mr JWiise - is confused about the controls and analytics and finds the game unintuitive, it is hard to conclude anything other than the developers have really bitten off more than they can chew here and made some poor design choices and suffered some execution failures. Early days and maybe things change as the game is better understood and explored, but the early signs are not promising. I was a big Froskpunk 1 fan and pre-ordered Frostpunk 2, but now that it is here I find myself utterly disinclined to play it, and haven't yet done so. It looks too hard to pick up and not that fun. If the great JWiise is struggling, a casual/occasional gamer like myself - even one with FP1 experience - stands no chance. You were amazing at Frostpunk 1 because you were able to play dictator with absolute power, and dictators with absolute power that are competent can implement highly optimized policies. Here it looks like one gets unavoidably bogged down in the mundanity of democratic politics. More realistic & a different dimension of gameplay, sure, but democratic politics is a buzz kill and just ain't fun. Political faction management & a boring political sim is not what we signed up for. If you ever do manage to figure this game out a 101 explainer for Frostpunk 1 players new to Frostpunk 2 would be very useful, though of course it might not be your jam. Thanks for your great content. Btw I had good success with Refugees rushing a hothouse, followed by wall drill. Emergency shift overnight drawing boards into hothouse, I find you have just enough time to avoid anyone starving, and thereafter have more than enough food even if you go for soup after child labour, emergency shift, extended shift. I found soup to be better because you have enough food with this build esp going into a relatively fast second hothouse after your walldrill, as it reduces sickness downtime generated by sawdust. This also allowed me to go for organ transplants before overcrowding, you can avoid any critically ill with 2-3 tents and it keeps sick people working at a critical time where labour is scarce, while the 40% faster heal time compensates for lower number of beds. I would also go for tier 2 heating before heaters before the 50dg fall. Keeps housing above cold at chilly and you can manage coal burn cycling overdrive on and off while cycling generator between tier 1 & 2. I'd go for a later beacon after getting coal & steel up, but with fast double scouts thereafter, finding I still had plenty of time to rescue everybody and get more than enough cores/other resources. I found I could go survivor mode deathless with relative ease with this build, but it is somewhat micro intensive and may not be optimal for speed running.
I remember playing the beta it was really lack luster and feel way less customizable than the 1 Now the game is released what do you think about it
I get their attempt of trying to get rid of all the heavy micro trickery from FP1. However it lost its aspect of city builder to me and I like this macro play with such detailed outposts less.
I think it's interesting the prologue lets you through with less then full stockpiles, kinda reminds me of my first "successful" New Home play though, I did not get enough food to survive the storm, but New London did survive, just like a tenth of the people.
Hey JWiise! Glad to see you posting FP2 content! I really missed an "economy" tab too, seeing that there is so much more going on. Was also a bit overwhelmed regarding the law and research effects. Nothing against evolving the game, but I thought the core concept of geography/generator/temperature was lost, unfortunately. Will still be playing but its been a very steep learning curve! Glad to have these to help me out
Survivor Fall of Winterhome (this run) and Survivor Refugees are the only achievements I have left. Trying to get them both done tonight as prep for Frostpunk 2 tomorrow! Can’t wait! Great helps in this video.
I cannot get that prison strategy at 10:20 to work for the life of me, I must've tried that in a run like 30 times now. Is there a trick to it that I'm not catching? Starting to feel like it was either patched or I'm just super unlucky :/
I think it is the overdrive, cuz im new to this game and decided to try refugee on survivor mode (haven't been able to get past day 9 lmao) and everytime without fail my engineer will die, the only difference i notice is that you put on overdrive which i never usually do
Are you going to be streaming frostpunk 2? It’s dropped for early access!
Brother I cannot wait to see you play FP2, ggs on getting WR back.
Tried the challenge ...but can barely keep up the repairs with three factory pumping out alloy....and not just incidents but lot's and lot's of strikes.....and I rage quit several playthrough in chapter 2 ....ugh ...it's rough...
You will get it, just keep at it! Once things start to go sideways it's difficult to recover. Also, watch how the steel is being shipped between sectors to make sure it's getting where you want it to go. Lastly, check your trades setup, keeping the steel number low helps spread it around quickly. GL!!
