    The clip/ lockbar relief is a big flop. Can't even get the knife in and out of your pocket. The wire clip included pulled right off. Don't even fasten to the knife.

    • @appalachianadvrider
      @appalachianadvrider 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@FrankToThePoint I agree that the clip sucks. I changed it to the wire clip and the retention isn't great ... It's just ok. It's a shame that this really great knife missed on a pretty big thing ... Going in and out of the pocket well.

    • @FrankToThePoint
      @FrankToThePoint 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep.. it's unacceptable after 4-5 prototypes. It should have been fixed. MC talked about the lock relief and knew this was a problem but refused to put the relief on the inside of the scale just so he can put his helmet emblem. The video is posted on my FB of the same name.

    • @appalachianadvrider
      @appalachianadvrider 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@FrankToThePoint what's the issue with the lock relief? Is it just that you don't like the way it looks because it's on the outside of the scale? From a function standpoint the lock bar works fine, right? I remember Sergio said he couldn't put the lock bar relief on the inside of the scale because of geometry, but I didn't understand why. I've seen plenty of knives with the relief on the inside. It doesn't bother me that it's on the outside, but that's a personal preference. It certainly would have been better visually on the inside, but it doesn't bother me. I'll have to see if I can watch your video on Facebook

    • @FrankToThePoint
      @FrankToThePoint 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The relief is part of the reason the clip does not work. Your pocket gets caught up by the poor clip angle and the lock relief

    • @appalachianadvrider
      @appalachianadvrider 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@FrankToThePoint I just switched back to the original clip and took off the wire clip. I immediately changed it to the wire clip because the stock clip was so tight, so I never carried it stock, but the wire clip didn't really hold the knife in the pocket that well, and I didn't want to lose it. I want to order the 54 mm standard pocket clip in stonewash, but it's not available. It's on the pre-order page, where you pay in advance and you get to wait for them to make it, but it's grayed out. How could something be grayed out if it's on a pre-order? I do resent having to spend money to replace the pocket clip on a $400 knife. This is the first time I'm even slightly been disappointed in a Kunwu knife. But besides the pocket clip the knife is really good, and I have to see how I feel about the cut out once I carry it with the stock clip.

    Imo the warncliff is the ultimate self-defense blade because the cutting pressure goes all the way to the tip. I finally got an xm-24 in December in the skinny warncliff variation, and i love it.

      @smokedogg19821 Michael Janich, the designer of Yojimbo knife variants, has a great video on the subject, and he is an expert, so I'm going to have to say I agree! @@nigeldalton532 this knife didn't need to be broken in to fall shut. It's a lot like a gravity knife once you release the lock by pulling back on it and tipping it in the desired direction. The action on this knife is really good. It sounds very industrial.

    • @appalachianadvrider
      @appalachianadvrider 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Beskar181 I don't normally talk about value. It's hard to say to someone that spending $600 is a good value. But when you compare it to other American made knives in it's class, it's not very overpriced. A McNees Mac 2 is around or over $600, and this knife blows it away in my opinion. A Hinderer XM18 is $425, and if you buy the titanium scale, add another $200 to make that an equivalent knife to this one, so this is cheaper. I personally love this AD20, so I'm a fan. That shark lock is amazing and really strong ... It's almost as strong as a fixed blade, and you can't say that about many folders. But you can get a $20 knife that cuts paper.

      @ I added loctite last night. I could tell there was none on there from factory. Same happened with my Waypoint. I know how to fix the issue, but it requires knowledge and tools on my end right out of the box. Shouldn’t be that way for a high-end product. People who didn’t know what to do would have the pivot fall out. If it’s a known issue (which it is) they should add loctite during assembly or they should fix the issue somehow.

    I agree, this is an opus knife for Rick. And thinking about the "triad" of Mick Strider, Chris Reeve, and Rick Hinderer...Reeve seeks perfection by improving the finite details on a small number of models, Hinderer holds rather steady on existing models (including pricing) to keep the customized lego world alive and he got right almost everything that held back his tougher-use brand knives with the PX, and Strider just found a way to increase the prices (seemingly by decreasing the production, but also updating some materials to be fair ;-) Thanks!
