The Beginner Kiteboarder
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ม.ค. 2020
This channel is dedicated to my progression as a beginner kiteboarder.
I have had around 16 hrs of tuition from a qualified instructor , and have recently been let loose to go independant.
I will keep having tuition from time to time, because as you'l see i need it, and there always seems like theres a next stage to learn.
I Kite around the sussex area, Lancing beach is my local site, and it not short on waves this winter, which isnt ideal for learning but im starting to see its a lot more fun once i get over the waves and survived the attack! If i can learn in winter , i should be good in the summer?? who knows.
I started my training in September 2019, and now really getting the bug.
This channel is mainly to log how im progressing in kitesurfing and for my own amusment, something to look back on in years to come. If you can give me any tips i would be grateful!

Kite Foiling Progress Ep6, Foot Swap and Downloops
มุมมอง 8022 ปีที่แล้ว
Im at 17 hours into learning to kite foil, coming from being a competent kite boarder on a twintip board, not really had much time with a surf board, and definitely enjoying it more and more now, especially as the kiteboarding side has been fairly non existent this year so far. Just starting to attempt the foot change, and downloop transitions with some success. On the 10m duotone Evo, wind spe...
Beginner Foiling EP4, March 2022
มุมมอง 4522 ปีที่แล้ว
The next episode in my journey in foiling. 13 hours into learning now, very sketchy light wind on this day, kept dropping off and had a fair bit of swimming. I'm gonna wear a life jacket next time out, as there was a couple of times where I was so unfit that I was struggling a bit when the kite was in the water. Easy to panic in those situations and expel too much energy. i was wearing an impac...

Big Holloween Sunday!
มุมมอง 3663 ปีที่แล้ว
A mental session today, 35knots gusting 40knots, probably the biggest waves ive seen here and definatly on the limit of my ability! Some of the waves were well over head height, and had to run away from a couple!
kiteline Mount 4k Test at lancing 28th Oct 2021
มุมมอง 2143 ปีที่แล้ว
Testing a new technique for editing with the line mount, zooming in and rotating the image so you keep the subject level. I do have the Max lens mod for the gopro but didnt use it on this occasion, so that might be better than this editing technique. Makes me fell a bit sick and its time consuming. Camera is hero9, 4k@60fps, Linear mode, hypersmooth enabled.
Kite Foiling Progress Ep3, Afternoon Session
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
ive got 11 hours of kite foiling under my belt now, and its starting to come good. this is my first jibes up on the foil, but still cant go left foot forward with much sucess. I can and have done left foot forward but the conditions need to be butter flat, but now we are coming into winter its very swelly and very challenging to say the least. Getting by nicely with toeside though, progression ...
Seal Encounters Kitesurfing in Tiree
มุมมอง 2393 ปีที่แล้ว
kitesurfing with seals in Tiree, there were few kicking around all day, popping their heads up to see what was going on, nearly hit one as he popped up at exactly the wrong moment, could have been worse, but luckily managed not to hit it!
Kiting In Tiree, October 2021
มุมมอง 8283 ปีที่แล้ว
My first Kiting trip away, wind everyday near enough, waves, flat water, sea life, it had it all. Thanks to BN1 kiteboarding for the trip away, was absolutely superb. Watch out for the seals in the video, nearly hit one, luckily managed to avoid it!

the other day i had my first session same feeling it was indomitable not putting weight forward perhaps i make a class. hopefully in a place with out big choppy waves like my firs time.
Lancing/Worthing? Where do you launch from?..... Good video as usual
Thanks mate, we launch from ferry road, Shoreham. You coming down?
I generally kite opposite the BP Garage in lancing... But always good to find new friendly spots 👍
@@mikeRobinsonCharlton You must know mark lovett then, i think he teaches up there doesnt he?
Only just seen this video. Strapless now then? Looking good chap.
Cheers mate, strapless and that's the old board now, upgraded to a 130,. F-one, forget the name of it but the one everyone's got. Hope your doing well mate, must be due a foil session soon
@@hoverparaglidingwas hoping this weekend but unwell unfortunately.
@@simonburch8762 don't think there was anything on really, southerly and light, wouldn't have been worth it anyway mate. I didn't bother. Soon enough though it's coming
good job!
omg, i had a first session like that today, thanks for sharing this i thought that it's just not for me :D
How u do that
Stop using a landyard bro
You ain't no beginner anymore
Back in town 😊👍👍
Hello mate, i stumbled across your TH-cam channel and it's totally and accurately represent the reality of learning the sport in the UK, it shows the constant struggles the beginners face in our waters, i don't think your channel gets enough viewers. I couldn't help to notice that you started on your actual size board, many people recommend a much larger freeride board to start with it'll you can waterstart both directions and going upwind than you can downsize to your actual size. Just wondering what's your take on that and the pros and cons. Many thanks for sharing.
I’m always coming back to your videos-and this is a classic. I need to go..🏄🏻♂️
I wonder if you need to ask your board one more time about that incident. probably it lied to you by blaming a lanyard :D btw i almost lost my teeth by face planting with a mouth mount
Damn that looked gnarly
Always come back to your videos when I’m missing being on the water.🏄🏻♂️thanks !
That was just unlucky, lanyard catching something, what's the chances..
Yeah it was unlucky, but I did it before and chipped a tooth which had to be replaced. You'd think I'd learnt my lesson by now 😂
Thanks for sharing it!
Your really progressing well. Thanks for the video content really great footage and nice tunes. I’m one or two episodes behind you in foil skills so this helps a lot.
Excellent, glad your liking the videos, yeah i think i'l be on the footswaps for a while to come, but nice to be linking up my runs without having to get off the board to swtich feet, even as rough a move as it is currently. 🤟
What are your gopro settings? Mine always either fail to catch the horizon, look super slow or don't catch the board.
I'm guessing the wind range is a lot lighter when foiling? Great Videos as always
Oh yes , yes wind range is anything from 10knots upwards on a foil, even less with a foil kite, but im not getting one of those anytime soon. Yeah foiling really has opened up the opportunities for getting out on the water. its a lot of fun, technically challenging, but im really glad i started it and pushed through the learning pain barrier!
@@thebeginnerkiteboarder4489 how many session and hours did it take to get to this level. I had 2 lessons with Stav before lock down but haven’t been out since
@@normsbigwindow9379 hi norm, this is 13hours into kitefoiling, having already learnt and compitant on the twintip. This includes 2 or 3 sessions with stav myself. This session in this video was tricky and my standard is a little higher than this video represents. Theres a certain amount of pain you gotta go through, but I'm definately on the fun side now where as before I want enjoying it so much, but you gotta push through. I would say this is my preferred water sport now, it's technical but when you start getting it the reward is really high. If you see me on the beach come and chat, I'm normally in Shoreham, but go up lancing every now and then.
Nice! Looks like you got it.
Thanks it's getting there.
kudos, tricky conditions, up in north wales the gusts just made it no fun to fly.
really, yeah same down here really, this video was just in the wake of the storm. Nice to get out though
It’s clever, how do you do it? What software and what the basic techniques? Thx
Basic techniques, just zooming in and the right moment, rotating the picture at the right moment and zooming back out. No fancy software needed, although I'm using Adobe premiere, but it's just basic stuff. It's tricky at first but once you get a system going the worktflow is pretty good.
Can't wait to get to your ability awesome 👏 😎
that wont take long, im not that good!🤣
Hello there, what do you use to track/view your session?
I use my Garmin fenixGPS watch, or my phone with strava running, basically anything that records your track with a gpx format, or you can convert it after if you've got something else, but i then import the gpx file into Ayvri.com. ayvri is a good bit of software, worth looking into, its more for freeflight than kitesurfing but it works, just.
@@thebeginnerkiteboarder4489 That's very helpful. Thanks a lot
Currently, I’m at this stage…just started going on my own after 10 hrs course….cheers from Dubai !!
I actually thought u we’re gonna drown at the end of that 🤘
Another great video matey, I'll be back down in 2021 and hopefully get out together.
Looking good Chris.
in very light wind, keep the kite moving all the time doing the "S" curve and, when it start to backstall inside the wind window, pull hard the front lines that you'll have a better chance to make the kite climb to zenith again. kite foil has a "trap". The aparent wind the foil produces when you're going upwind. Thus, pay attention that you may have a wrong impression of the actual wind speed. Keep practicing that and you'll be soon flying over water ;)
Looking good. Perhaps try to keep the kite higher, open upright stance. You’ll be much happier when you have the longer mast and the board is out of the water the whole time. Make no mistake, kitefoiling when you really get it is fabulous. Keep it up! JK
Love this channel- always watch it when I’ve not been out on the water to give me a kick up the ar*e to get out there..
Where you getting a woo jump going over the swell? Had something similar last week every time just popping of the swell i was getting 1.2-1.5m jumps, good fun learning to toe side carve transition on the swell face, great vid..
Yes, I had a 2.5 m jump over the swell just dropping off the back of the wave. Pretty mental session. Gotta love this sport 🤣
Ps, I am the beginner kiteboarder by the way, forgot to log into my other account 🤘
Fair play, yesterday was hooning! I ended up windsurfing. Time to buy a 5m… Nice to meet you the other week
Yeah I didn't think the wind was that bad actually, just a rediculous swell with lots of white water. Today however was so much better! Yes nice to meet you the other day nick, see you again soon 🤘
That wind yesterday was mental especially the Gusts !! Tooooo strong for my limited ability atm. Fab video as always 👍
Yeeeeewww!!!
Sick man! Love the little runaways :) Keep it up!
Love the video mate
I’ve so got to borrow this at some point.
Just get one, I'll be using this most of the time from here on in, I've stopped using the mouth mount now because I've spent a small fortune on dental work recently 🤣 kitelinemount.com/
Gives a good angle for fine tuning technique..
11h only! That's amazing! You must have a decent experience in directionnal boards? Could you give wind speed and mast and kite sizes for this session?
No experience in directional boards actually, as you'll see from my channel, I've taken the surfboard out only a few times and I'm terrible at it. I've got the f-one setup, ic6 with 75cm may 950 wing and the big t51 board. A good beginner setup which was setup for me by BN1 kiteboarding. I'm still very shaky on it but it's getting there 😁
I'm still trying not to face plant on my twintip let alone foiling ! Well done 👏 it looks awesome
Thanks Mike! nothing wrong with a faceplant! ha ha
Where is the spot ? Ist looks great!
where you camping in vans? tried to go in september but everything was booked up to the end of october 😒
No we had 2 houses rented out, which were booked months and months in advance is my understanding, not my department.
Thanks Chris, that is such fun!
Wauw. Nice filming and eddeting 🙏👍😎
Awesome video!!!!

Thanks Cheryl, shame I didn't have any footage of you guys, I'll be sure to get some next time
