Jamaica, The Bahamas and Barbados, has some of the highest electricity costs in the world. This is largely due to the fact that these CARICOM nations are heavily reliant on natural gas and oil. So in today's video, we discuss the potential of introducing nuclear energy into the mix and whether or not it could actually make the cost of energy much cheaper for these island nations. #islandblogs #...

Blind to the reality of what it takes to get oil out of the ground. Your eyes have to be wide open. International investment’s number # 1 requisite is , stability. Political and social stability that is rock solid and unshakable. Social cohesion . That ensures that, the billions in investment is assured to be returned back .

Don't get too excited about this. Number 1 they have found oil but not enough to make it economical to get. Maybe one day they will but not yet. Also look at all the African countries with huge natural resources. The leaders of these countries become billionaires while the people starve in poverty. Why would Jamaica be any different. Look at bauxite yes it created jobs but thats it where's the money gone.

Let me tell you this now. They did not find any oil in Jamaica at the moment. If and when they find oil in Jamaica, the local black Jamaicans will not benefit from it. All the benefits will all go to non black Jamaicans. The only benefit black Jamaicans will derive from it, are more cook shops, more low level laboring jobs. The white ruling class have already divvy up how the profits will be shared amongst themselves.

Stupid Jamaicam government has once again sold us out for peanuts. This United oil and gas company must be laughing their heads of at the stupid people in the Jamaican government. This average profit share for countries that form agreement with these oil explorers are around 60% for the govt to 40% the oil exploration company. Some counries even high up to 78% profit to the government. The desperate short sighted idiots clearly have no business sense has given away our oil for a paltry 25-38% profit to the jamaica govt and the rest to the oil company. The average lease agreement is 12%, jamaican govt only agree to 5%, plus the government doesnt have any involvement in the production of the product( no state involvement!!!!!! This is the energy resource of a entire nation. The Jamaica government has once again allowed itself to be exploited, and they people wonder why black economies cant improve. There is nothing to celebrate here. I sincerely hope the data is inaccurate and when they go to drill, its a dryhole.

I see Dangote Oil refinery having problems getting feedstock crude from Nigeria's vast supply of Oil and as I look at the subsidies on oil in the Nigerian sector and the fact that they don't have a working refinery for over 30 years, I realize that the problem is the MIND of the European Black Man who puts his pocket over the needs of his nation. That MINDSET is as a result of religion replacing our African Spirituality which our Ancestors used to raise up our Consciousness as a people. The Norwegian Oil Sovereign Fund serves as a MODEL for us to follow instead of falling into the "Oil Curse" trap. We will have to stand up to the CIA and other agents, oh well....Oracle

The thing I like is that they had known that there was oil in the region , think about it , why would they have a oil refinery in place for over how many yrs if they didn’t know that oil was there .. Somebody knew it was just a matter of time , just make sure politicians don’t line there greedy pockets and the citizens don’t get no benefit, just saying..

The best thing they could do is leave that oil alone. That oil is near the pedro banks.thats millions of US dollars worth of conch and lobster.if u have spill thats thousands of fishermen out of work who used to big money. What do u think they are going to do? Coke , guns and crime tun up. More than half the countries in the world import oil with first world economies.oil is not even close to being a problem for jamaica.

Interesting video and i definitely learned a few things. However I have two points to make... Mauritania shared the color exclusivity until 2017 when they added two red stripes to their flag. At that time we really became unique. Also, as far as I know Tanganyikais pronounced tang·guh-nyee-kuh. But this is the usual English pronunciation and am willing to be educated if they say it different in Africa. Thanks again for this video.

The Jamaican flag is missing something - a small guitar or drum to represent Jamaica's contribution to world music by creating Reggae. Reggae music is something very iconic of Jamaica, and for that reason I think some kind of representation on the flag seems called for. A little guitar or drum (or even a musical note glyph) can be placed in the left triangle similar to the placement of the nutmeg on the Grenadian flag.
