When oil prices went down, the government of Jamaica increases taxes on gasoline. Problems with wind turbines are as follows: turbines kills a lot of birds, noise pollution, the turbines cast a shadow on low lands, energy density is poor, too much land is needed, wind do not blow all the time, turbine cost and maintenance makes there profit margin small, battery storage is expensive. Next solar, efficiency is 15 to 23 percent, last 20 years then goes to landfill forever, sun do not shine all the time, less efficient if rain or cloudy, poor energy storage. Hydro, landscape changes, affect fish and wildlife, efficiency due to low pressure is low. Hydro maybe most feasible in Jamaica case. Nuclear is very expensive to build. The returns are not realize till 10 to 15 years. Medium size plant may work.

Thats not true. Efficiency of Nukes is very low. CCGT have better efficiency.

Just looking into this: from Wikipedia
A combined cycle power plant is an assembly of heat engines that work in tandem from the same source of heat, converting it into mechanical energy. On land, when used to make electricity the most common type is called a combined cycle gas turbine plant, which is a kind of gas-fired power plant. The same principle is also used for marine propulsion, where it is called a combined gas and steam plant. Combining two or more thermodynamic cycles improves overall efficiency, which reduces fuel costs. The principle is that after completing its cycle in the first engine, the working fluid is still hot enough that a second subsequent heat engine can extract energy from the heat in the exhaust. Usually the heat passes through a heat exchanger so that the two engines can use different working fluids. By generating power from multiple streams of work, the overall efficiency can be increased by 50-60%.

@shani5345 yes. What's on Wikipedia is correct. Another thing that will surprise you is that large reciprocating engines (in 10s of MW range) also have great efficiency (especially for power generation) compared to Nukes.
