What are State Conventions and what does the Constitution say about them?
There has been a lot of talk about State Conventions lately. This video looks at what they are, where they are mentioned in the US Constitution, and what their place is in the amendment process.

That's where the Democrats went wrong in weaponizing the Department of Justice and FBI against political opponents. They Illegally seized property & documents without probable cause to go on a witch hunt to try to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING against Trump and it doesn't work like that. That's why they failed at every step and the superior courts have overturned or will overturn them. It's unconstitutional to say we are going after someone, we don't know what it is but we'll find it just because they felt like it.

Overall pretty good, but I take exception with how you said "Federal systems of government also *give* powers to State governments." (emphasis added) The powers aren't given to the States, they already, by default lie there. The Federal system of government, rather, has States cede certain sovereign posers to the federal government in order to participate in and benefit from the Union. This is explicitly recognized in the 10th Amendment, and is a key concept for understanding especially provisions in Articles 1 & 2. The most significant sovereign powers the States cede are powers related to treating with foreign nations, either diplomatically or militarily, and these are concentrated in the Executive Branch. That is why it is proper that the mechanism by which the Chief Executive and Commander in Chief (POTUS) is chosen is one of the States deciding who they will allow to wield these powers in their behalf. That's the same reasoning behind why it is the Senate's responsibility (as representatives of the States) to provide advice and consent on appointments and treaties. This latter mechanism, unfortunately, was corrupted by 17A, turning Senators from being the State's voice into being glorified at-large Representatives, subject to the same foibles of public whim as the House.

The intent of the revolution, and of the confederation WAS NEVER TO CREATE A CENTRALLY GOVERNED EMPIRE. It was to organize cooperation between sovereign states with common interests vs the Empires we had all escaped from. The Articles of Confederation was only "a train wreck" to the rich elite that wanted to rule over everyone else and build an empire.

The constitution Wasn't written as a riddle, it has been interpreted through the lens of those people who try to find the "democracy" in it we as a country , constitutional Republic. This is why they use the term "living constitution" that it's old and must be interpreted differently because they didn't have cell phones.

I largely agree but would make some alterations to some of the words and wya of putting things. For example, the video speaks of giving people and states powers. No, the people and states delegate power upwards. It is the general government that is granted certain powers from the people and the states. It also needs emphasizing that the states are sovereign - that federalism is a confederation of independent sovereign states who have formed a compact and that may leave that compact at any time. The US is a republic, not a nation. It has a general government not a central or national government.

It was a massive mistake to give states so much power. Because as we have seen with abortion rights, multiple states are willing to put their own residents at risk because they think they are making a moral stand. Imaginary lines on a map should not be enough to curtail the rights of some Americans. And as we see the far right threatening more and more freedom and using “states rights” as the justification for it, it’s pretty clear that article iv is being abused.

I signed the petition for calling an Article V Convention many years ago, and, despite the heartening results of this last election, such a Convention is as needed now as ever. The Founders, in their immense wisdom, gave us not one but two methods to amend the Constitution because they recognized the possibility- or perhaps inevitability- that politicians would become infatuated with the power of their office and overstay their welcome. It is almost impossible to force a politicians of any party to voluntarily give up even sone of their power. But an Article V Convention could introduce a term-limits proposal and the politicians would have no say in the ratification process.

That’s actually incorrect. Congress controls the time and place of the Convention. They also control the Mode of Ratification. As to the Amendments proposed you would be right, except the drafters are using something called an Interstate Compact which requires the approval of Congress.

The Constitution mentions neither Federalism nor Democracy. The United States is a Republic. Democracy is, sadly, not a well defined word. Were I to define it in a positive way, I would define it as a form of government where every individual is sovereign, not subject to coercion or deceit. Unfortunately, too many people see it as a form of government where a majority of the people, as in Periclean Greece, or the majority in the legislature, as in most modern States, can make binding laws on everyone, trampling the rights of minorities, like the rich (which I'm not) or blacks (as was the case not that long ago) or women who abort the product of a sexual union. Theoretically, the Constitution protects minorities, but in practice, not really. And complete sovereignty for every individual is impossible, even if a worthy goal that all States should strive for. Trial by jury is the closest thing in a Republic that gives an individual the possibility of remaining sovereign, by making sure that public force is not used against an individual unless an impartial and randomly chosen jury gives unanimous consent, thereby justifying beyond a reasonable doubt the use of force against someone who violates a law. Thanks for educating people. That's also a worthy endeavor.

They could, but it was more difficult because it had to be apportioned. The Supreme Court had just struck down a tax as unconstitutional, so Congress drafted and got ratified the 16th Amendment to circumvent the Court's ruling. That same year, the Federal Reserve Act was passed, creating the Federal Reserve, and the following year, we entered World War I. Interesting turn of events.
