The X-men fail geography - The days of future past are lost

I worshipped this show when I was a kid. Now my five year old is loving it. That's the circle of life right there. But as I rewatch these old 90's cartoon shows, I can't help but catch awful mistakes and questionable moments in the show.
We can probably blame this mistake on the animation team in season one for not being from America (although I'm sure MANY people who do live here don't know the difference in location) but I thought it was a pretty big oversight!
