    I'm seeing people doubting wether or not this is traditional. It actually is traditional shaolin. But on the other side, there's something to be said about wether it is traditional meihua or just a shaolin form. I only know a little bit about the shaolin style, but I do know more about meihua quan, and there's nothing in this form that recalls the meihua style, I must say. It is nice to see that different styles borrow other styles' names though, but I feel like this is missleading. They should've called this form something different. Then again, I might be wrong, there could be some history behind this, unlike most of the other styles, meihua has a long tradition of different masters exchanging students for long periods of time, so it could be very well possible that somewhere along the line of time some shaolin master exchanged students with meihua farmers, or the other way around, and some of these forms were born. It is weird though, I would expect to see at least some of the 5 elements expression in a "mixed form" if you wanna call it that. Perhaps someone has some better insight regarding this form?

    Shi Gongsun is definitely a highly experience Shaolin Monk who knows very well how to use each movement in this routine against an opponent

  • @davidpierson1581
    @davidpierson1581 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Stephen Webb Shaolin Kung Fu is not practiced only for form. Each and every movement has an applicable purpose. The Shaolin Monks were, and are very intelligent and it would not make sense to practice forms for strength, technique and skill separate from martial forms with combative application. That is a waste of time when you are training 8 hours a day. Unfortunately so many people practice the forms without iron body training and without proper application instruction and embarrass Shaolin

    • @yangchensun5546
      @yangchensun5546 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David Pierson What you said about people practising forms without "body training and application instruction" is so very true in the case of Tai Chi. This is why despite Tai Chi being an effective martial art, the vast majority of people doing Tai Chi actually can't fight. And it's not the old folks in the park whom I am referring to, but the teacher himself. Lol!

    Lol Chinese death metal is awesome. But they did have pretty cool battle songs back then... it's amazing how they can use one instrument and make an entire bloody, raging battle scene with it. True mastery... one of the best 'battle songs' is "Ambushed from 10 Sides" try the version played by Pui-Yuen Lui (4th option from top)

    @SirTreSwordReviews Interestingly the most forms are all called Da Dao or Cui Qi Dao. I have found relatively less forms which use the name Guan Dao (Guans Knife) Actually it is a Dao/knife with a very long/big Handle so Da Dao.Of course there are also other swords which carry the same name.

    people are using "wind demon staff" to lightly.. that is not the wind demon staff style, its just 2 novice's in a poor attempt to choreograph what looks like martial arts..

    @walatalalaw Futher more weight training will not restrict your striking power it will increase your striking power ! In the 24 years I have done chinese martial arts all Chinese Styles incoperate sometype of weight training or power training routine. I don't know where you get this supposed factoral information but any wing chun stylist will tell you that you need to have power and power only comes from training hard both with weights and weapons as well as body weight.

  • @joshinmaster
    @joshinmaster 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @walatalalaw no what you did was make a statement you sight a source or from an actual expert you just made a stated a what you thought was accurate. You're wrong you made a mistake. It's that simple If your quoting sources you need to verify what that source was or you are an idiot. Just because you said according to wingchun( which is broad statement into itself) you shouldn't do weight conditioning because it restricts your striking power.

  • @walatalalaw
    @walatalalaw 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @joshinmaster it makes you look like an idiot as long as you claim it's your own knowledge. I clearly explained where that information came from, and added that it might be false, with a touch of sarcasm aimed to a youtube user. What I did was stating sources. It's rather like going to a physics convention and talking about something you read in a physics book, and stating it came from that book. Then maybe the book is full of crap. It happens.

  • @joshinmaster
    @joshinmaster 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @walatalalaw never quote anything that you don't know about because it just makes you look like an idiot. Kind of like going to a physics convention and talking about photography it just doesn't make sense so just be more careful before you spout information that your unsure of yourself.

  • @MechPhantom

    @lesterado haha i bet they go to their sanshou/sanda moves when they fight for real , forms are just for fitness and gives you a rough idea on combat moves in motion, but never for fighting. All chinese fighters use sanda now trust me , its even called "shaolin kickxobing"(sanshou) now pretty cool
