      I agree. I would rather have a rwd car but to get an m2 is another 30k than the civic and the type r in Canada is much more rare. I’m happy to have a unique car that has so many positives , except the wrong wheels providing propulsion!

    I just checked my trunk, and it doesn't have the subwoofer. Does the subwoofer make a big difference to the in car experience? I'm getting the trunk mat, led sills, and lock nuts for the wheels and spoiler installed on Tuesday. Honda is organising a ceramic coating on the car for me FOC.

      My sound system is quite good, but haven’t heard a comparison. All Canadian models have the subwoofer. What country are you buying yours in? The sills look pretty plain so the illuminated option sounds like a good idea.

    Driving a modded Fiesta ST not sure if worth the upgrade to a CTR considering the price difference... Hmm is a lot better than the Fiesta ST fun wise? Thank you

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a pretty big question! I really liked the ST as it was fun and cheap. I sold it to my son as he needed a reliable fun car. The Type R is better. It's bigger, better interior, more power, better seats, pretty much better on all accounts, except cost. I"m not sure if its actually worth the 4x the cost but you're also getting a new car, warranty, and lots of other stuff. I found the ST to be pretty much invisible to other people; very few knowing what it was. The R is different as people know what it is and I kinda like that. If I didnt have much money, I'd easily go for a nicely used ST again, but I had enough to get an R and so far have no regrets. Not sure if that helped, but maybe looking at a lightly used FK8 might be a good compromise. They are very similar to FL5 but many more on the used market for less $$.

    OEM trunk mat because it says type r on it and I think that's sick. OEM Seat back protectors, and I went with weather tech mats all around. Usually I prefer tuxmats but they're kind of a pain to unclip every time I need to clean the mats. It's a little quibble against tux but they're by far the best mats I've ever had. Just decided on weather tech for good enough, high enough, and protective enough. Anyway that's my set up

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good choices. I was required to purchase the trunk mat and floor mats, and thought of selling them, but found they were cool and functional enough to keep. We have tuxmats in our subaru outback and I also agree that they offer more coverage than weather tech, but a total pain to take out to wash. (in the subaru, they also have a piece that wants to come un-velcroed from the rug so have to be careful with that. I've had weather tech in most of my cars and they've done the job. I'm looking for an OEM R car cover so at least I can walk past my car in winter and it would still look kinda cool. Just missed out on one on ebay, but still looking.

    I suggest getting some all weather mats or the red mats and floor is gonna get really grimy. I have tuxmats in mine though that pretty much completely conceals that it has red carpentry. But I all season daily mine so I really really wanted total protection. I also put in some sound deadening dynamat in places to cut down on nvh. Again, this is my daily, I don't need to cut a few pounds vs comfort. Also the Integra module makes R mode possible. Anyway. Couple creature comfort mods I did if you're interested.

      I had to buy the high wall rug mats as part of my "deal". I have a review on those if you want to check it out. I daily my FL5 through our Michigan winters. It does fine with snow tires and in the snow. The biggest issue I have is just when the snow is too deep which I'd have that issue if it was AWD too. But that is like 1 day a year, so I just don't go out that day 🤭 the lack of heated seats doesn't bother me either. Sure I'd use them if I had them buy the seats are cloth and my garage, while not being heated, stays usually above freezing just because it exist as a closed unit. I also wear these things called pants in the winter 🤭 and so I'm not touching skin to seat. I've found that heated seats are only really necessary with leather seats like in the Acura I had before the FL5... And even then the heated seats to me either felt like I had peed the seat and didn't really help or I couldn't feel it through pants. So I dunno. Long story short, people make a big stink about things sometimes instead of accepting life and how it is.

      You're not the first one to suggest that! I'm quite okay with my R and for reasons I gave in the review, I'm not tempted by the ITs. (seats, tacked on back wheel arches, looks etc) Nothing is perfect so I like to point out areas where I think the car could be improved. Thx for your comment.

    Thanks for the video! I've done more or less the same thing. I've been going to the garage to start the car every couple of weeks, will you be starting yours or leaving it entirely till the spring?

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will not be starting mine until it’s spring. From what I’ve read, by starting it, you take the chance of moisture forming in the engine and the exhaust system. One clarification I should have made in the video, except one can’t edit once it’s posted, is that I had out fuel stabilizer in prior to winterizing day so it would be in the whole fuel system , not just the tank.

      I have driven some of my sports cars during winter in the past . The amount of salt and gravel they put on roads around here is rediculous and the ice ruts and other poor conditions in winnipeg winter driving doesn’t help. I have a Subaru I have fun in the snow with.

    Great write up and we are now twins! Great idea with the 6 inch level, instead I "eyeballed" it but small price for peace of mind to protect the paint and makes washing/detailing easier with less kick up on the sides and in the vent area.

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im a litte (lot...) OCD about things being level and straight. I think I"ll leave the guards/flaps on as they really are hard to see and dont ruin the look of the car. Definitely was going to do something about he vents though, so they are staying on for sure! Have you done anything else to your R outside factory specs?

    • @ryu6998
      @ryu6998 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CoolcarCrapcar yeah I'm not a mud flaps kind of guy but this is subtle enough to where it doesn't draw attention. I did the PRL HVI just for boost back pressure noises, I'm looking into OBD fake port install next since I'm horrified how easy it is to break in, pair a new set of keys and drive off with it

      I am trying trying trying to not go on gravel... Take the Subaru if that is not an option! Now the left over gravel from winter sanding... that's another conversation!

    I had these and went to Rallyarmor instead. I like the look of the flaps poking out, they provide better coverage, and also didnt require me to screw holes in the fender liner. The whole setup is a lot more sturdy as well, that being said these are good if you want a more discreet flap

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I definitely wanted a more discreet flap, and having to add 3m tape if one wants them poking out further, doesn't sound like the best solution if you really want the poking out look. One thing that FX3D already changed (which was in the video) is they added an L bracket to the back guards so an existing OEM screw is used instead of adding another hole in the older version

    • @looneyyang1326
      @looneyyang1326 หลายเดือนก่อน

      rallyarmor as far as looks is definitely over the top. lol

    More feedback is always appreciated! We'll add it to the list for the next version. Lately. we have actually custom built a bigger 3D printer which will allows us to make taller Guards. So we'll obviously come up with a more elongated version soon too. Thanks for the cool install and review video.

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you liked it! I had no idea that your manufacturing equipment were the reason for not making longer ones! Will look forward to seeing the options you'll come up with! Maybe the revision with get a full 5 ice cream trucks!

      @FX3D.DesignCA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CoolcarCrapcar Without feedback it's tough to know if you are pleasing the majority of your customers, which is the ultimate goal. Personally, I prefer to have the guard in line with the tire and not the body panel. I think it just looks better. In order to fit them how you like or according to your wheel and alignment setup, we have given plenty of adjustment room. It's more work when you install them, but it's worth the hassle in my opinion. Get your 5 trucks ready!

      Those do look interesting if one only wants the mesh. Were they easy to install? I was a “mesh only” kind of guy before I tried the 3dfx whole system but am now reconsidering. For now I’ve left everything on as I really can’t see the extra pieces so aesthetically they’re way better than expected.

  • @onepointsix647
    @onepointsix647 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video. I used a template and just created my own to fit between the fender liner, but these look really good along with the mud flaps. I'll consider picking up one.

    • @CoolcarCrapcar
      @CoolcarCrapcar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I still think FX3D should sell the mesh separately. And if you tuck the rock guards into the wheel well, they seem to kind of disappear while still providing protection. Too bad I have now officially stopped driving it til April!
