  • This is a driving review of the 2023 Kia K5 sedan. Is it worth buying new or used? Is it cool or is it crap? Is the dad joke worthy of "cringe"??

What you have therr is the CHEAPEST MODEL of the K5. I bought a new 2021 K5 GT LINE with premium package. A much NICER car. Im very happy with it, have 36.000 miles on it now, and its been flawless. Last summer I drove it from Southern California to Wilmington North Carolina. Enjoyed the trip, comfortable, no complaints.

Thanks for the comment! I wish I had a GT to test, but rental car companies usually get some cheaper models! I still very much liked the base model so the GT must be fantastic! Do you have the all wheel drive option? Are the seats more supportive than base? That's the one I'd order as I live in a very snowy province with about 5+ months of snow on the ground. Luckily I"ve been traveling a bit more this year so have been able to test some cars where it's much warmer!

@@mgb269 No need for AWD here in Southern California. My car has power drivers seat, very adjustable. My car is a GT LINE, not the GT. I have the premium package which adds panoramic sunroof, led interior lighting, upgraded led headlights, automatic stop and go cruise control, rear cross traffic alert with automatic braking, Blind spot monitoring. Leather wrapped steering wheel, I have no suspension noise like heard on your rental....someone definitely hit something, a curb, bad pothole, never buy a rental car! Lol. I bought mine new in May 2021, paid MSRP, And qualified for thier 0.0 intrest financing. SWEET! My car was 28.700 dollars, including 700 dollars extra for the Passion Red paint. Same car today with the premium package is a little over 32.000. Glad I bought when I did. Very happy with it. I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra I bought new, I only buy new, I kept it. It just turned 100.000 miles, and has been flawless, fully loaded, 0 repairs, 0 issues. It runs like new, uses no oil. Even the brake pads are original. I keep having them inspected with each tire rotation, expecting to hear it needs new brakes....but I keep getting told, nope, they are ok. And yes, I DO STOP AT RED LIGHTS. AND STOP SIGNS!!! Enjoyed you review, Thx.

Sorry, didnt see this comment til today. Sounds like you have a very nicely optioned out k5! The 0% interest rate is a big deal. I just read that the 1.6l turbo is being replaced with a 2.5l naturally aspirated engine with 191hp in 2025. Wonder why they'd do that? I like the 1.6 and it was great on fuel, and apparently quite reliable.

Good morning. The 1.6 L engine is a great little engine. It has been a staple for them for many years now, its been an option on many of thier cars at extra cost for years. Was pleasantly surprised to see it was the standard engine when the K5 came out. Its been very reliable for them. The power it puts out when getting on it feels like a V6. I really like the K5, have had no issues with it. And STILL get compliments from people about it. I have the passion red paint, and several times have been asked if it was candy apple red lol. The new non turbo has significantly less TORQUE, and 0 to 60 times will definitely increase. Only reason I can see for the change is cost. It certainly costs more to build a Turbo engine than a non Turbo one. Ive seen the videos of the new 2025 refresh K5, dont like it. Very glad I have the 1st design, and the Turbo. At 64, probably my last new car, which I plan on keeping indefinitely. Southern California area, corrosion a non issue. I do have 2 other cars, a 58 Cadillac my parents bought in 1960, and a beautiful 68 Mustang I bought while in High school. 1977. Both of them in great shape and on the road. Happy travels to you. 😊

You had me at "1968 mustang"... My dad ran the Community college automotive program, thus my love of cars... and my first car was a navy blue 1968 mustang 289 that we (well mostly him) restored when I was 17! Wish I handnt sold it but as a poor high school student, I could only afford one car and the winters in Manitoba with salt etc. started working on the welds between the new quarter panels and the bottom unibody. Dad suggested we sell it while it was in pristine shape. I think of that car often. drive.google.com/file/d/13oB-ljUZW8SVdnQfUrBBh7K0EHH9NonU/view?usp=share_link
