Last time I played desolation it was like beta two. I don’t remember spheal being a starter. I’ve been meaning to get back to playing the game as I enjoyed the early version. Looking at the video, seems a lot has been done of this game since the early days.
Always love to see more content on the field effects trio: Pokemon Reborn, Rejuvenation and Desolation. These fangames deserve a lot more exposure; I do hope big content creators will eventually bring attention to them.
This is actually one of the first fangames I picked up when I was first starting to get into the fangame community, and it almost set a standard for me when it comes to judging a fangame. Not in a "this fangame must be just as good as Desolation, otherwise it's trash" but more in a "if this fangame is as good or better in gameplay, qol, graphics, or story, then I'll definitely try it out and see if I like it." Plus it also influenced me a lot in what I consider my favorite Pokemon, with Pokemon like Hydreigon, Lycanroc, Toxicroak, etc that I didn't really care all that much about becoming some of my favorites after I played it. Also, the redesigned shinies are some of the best, even better than most of the Reborn ones, and I love that they went through the trouble of making new shiny designs for Pokemon that didn't really have ones that were all that great.
It's definitely a lot harder to get into fangames and rom hacks that are incomplete but I've already taken the plunge for rejuvenation and the video made desolation look really fun so I might start playing lmao
I just finished a playthrough of Desolation a couple of weeks ago so this video came out at a great time! This is the first game to dethrone Rejuvenation as a favorite for me. Something about it's simple yet powerful narrative really speaks to me. The difficulty curve feels way more fair to me than Rejuv because you get access to stronger pokemon earlier and the mega-z ring sooner than Rejuv despite it's harsh difficulty. To me I value being able to have a lot of Pokemon and tools at my disposal to take on battles. I also totally understand the point about Desolation having a smaller cast, it's way easier for the player to keep track of Desolation's characters than the Rejuvenation Cinematic Universe (tm). Jokes aside, I still love Rejuv, but Desolation has just a tad bit more potential in my eyes. And I cannot wait to see what both games have in store for us in the future!
Desolation is a great game that actually does something really interesting (for once) with Darkrai. I plan to get back into it at some point, but it definitely deserves a ton of praise.
Always welcome to see some Desolation love, even if it's currently unfinished and delayed right now it should be played through by anyone and everyone at least once. It's just that good not too.

I mean, if you really wanted to sell Desolation all you have to do is tell people that Spheal is one of the starter options.

I actually just finished Deso earlier in the week and can 10000% vouch for it. The atmosphere and tone is fantastic

Pokemon Desolation was probably the funnest time I’ve had with any fan games. Really hope it gets out of development hell someday wish them the best.

It's something I'd like to do when I have a larger audience. Working on a video for two weeks only for it to die at 4k views isn't very motivating
