Types of Heat Transfer | Conduction | Convection | Radiation | #hvac | Animation | #hvactraining
What types of Heat transfer are happening in a AHU and Chiller?
Write in the comments section.
Heat transfer is the movement of thermal energy from one place to another due to a temperature difference. It's a fundamental process that happens all around us, from the warmth of the sun reaching Earth to the cooling of a cup of coffee.
There are three main types of heat transfer:
Conduction: This is the transfer of heat through direct contact between molecules. When one part of a material is heated, its molecules vibrate faster and collide with neighboring molecules, transferring energy. This is why a metal spoon gets hot when placed in a hot cup of tea.
Convection: This is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). When a fluid is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, carrying heat with it. This is how a pot of boiling water circulates heat.
Radiation: This is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, like light or infrared radiation. This is how the sun warms the Earth, and how a fire radiates heat.

Latent Heat and Sensible Heat Explained | Humidity | Animation | #hvac #hvacsystem #hvacmaintenance

Sensible Heat: What it does: Changes the temperature of a substance without changing its state (solid, liquid, or gas). Example: Heating up a pot of water on the stove. The water gets hotter (temperature increases), but it remains a liquid. Latent Heat: What it does: Changes the state of a substance (solid to liquid, liquid to gas) without changing its temperature. Example: Water evaporating in...

Heat Capacity Definition: The amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of an entire object by one degree Celsius (or Kelvin). Specific Heat Capacity Definition: The amount of heat energy ...
What is Primary and Secondary Pump? Explained | Animation | #hvac #hvacsystem
มุมมอง 6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Primary Pumps Location: Directly connected to the chillers themselves. Purpose: Circulate chilled water through the chiller's evaporator, where heat from the building is absorbed, and then back to the chillers. Flow Rate: Often designed with a constant flow rate to ensure the chillers operate at their optimal efficiency. Types: Can be dedicated (one pump per chiller) or headered (multiple pumps...

Chiller Approach Value We measure the efficiency value of a chiller to determine if it is working properly. If the chiller efficiency value is abnormal, we need to measure the chiller approach value next. The chiller approach value must be measured at the evaporator and condenser of the chiller. By measuring, we can find out if there is a problem with the evaporator or the condenser. Usually, t...

Chiller load calculation determines the cooling capacity required for a chiller to maintain a desired temperature in a specific space or process. It essentially estimates the amount of heat the chiller needs to remove to achieve this. The primary formula used for chiller load calculation is: Q = (m * ΔT)/24 Where, Q is the heat removal rate in Tons m is the mass flow rate of the cooling fluid (...

I wish someone would explain how the start capacitor is taken out after the after the motor starts. I thought the capicator can change the direction of the motor, plus boost the motor voltage to start. The motor has a centrical switch in the motor to take out the start capicator after starting?

It depends on the setup. Most times in hvac a start capacitor and run capacitor are run through a potential relay and once sufficient voltage is seen on the start winding the relay opens and disconnects the start cap but leaves the run cap intact. Less common in hvac but more common in other large single phase motors would be that the start cap is wired to a centrifugal switch in the motor that pulls open when the motor starts spinning and disconnects it from the winding.
