Try it like Ive had to in heavy rain, in a long wheeled based 2.4ltr transit van, some of us locals use it regularly, the amount it cuts off travelling west to east is miles, used less now as pedal cyclist are becoming a real hazard, trying to ride up without stopping , if in a car or van you need speed to get around that bad double bend cyclists (pedal) slow you down too much, good video
