    This test is a money grab. The neurologist I had switched to after being diagnosed with Parkinsons. I was diagnosed at 59. The first visit he asked about Medicare. I wasn't eldogable yet. He did NONE of the prior testing I had. The test is $10,000 dollars and requires pre authoization. My portion would be $1,500 Twice over the course of 3 years he threatened to cut off my medication. I went back to the hospital who gave the original diagnosis and am now in Parkinson's stage 2 based on non invasive tests.

    Getting this test done early in the morning. The clinic im going to told me i can't eat after midnight and my options were oatmeal or beef stew. I was diagnosed with chronic gasteritis, two different sugar intolerances, and BAM. I was hoping I'd get to eat eggs but nope. Now I'm worried i'll have to run to the bathroom after eating. I don't believe i have gastropasis if anything i figure i empty to fast that's probably why i get sick if i dont eat enough or wait to long to eat i get sick. Luckily my test is only going to last two hours instead of the 4 hours. I'm a bit nervous but this video is helpful.

      @jenniferholland9656 thanks. I survived. I ended up very sick the night before because of anxiety and bile reflux. I felt extremely nauseated by the time I had to go for the test. Once I ate the oatmeal it surprisingly settled my stomach. I did fine during the test but It's a 2 hour test laying down with a scanner right up again the stomach. Reminded me of the hida scan. They left me alone. My bladder started bothering me half way in so I had to start hollering for someone to pause it so I could use the bathroom. Other then that I did fine. My test was negative. Since then I've found out that I'm no longer sugar intolerant but I have bile reflux gastritis and GERD. My gi doctor also suspects I could have SIBO so I'm being treated for that but still having gi issues.

  • @fragilefleur
    @fragilefleur 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thank you for showing this. I had to do this scan recently and was terrified. The potential of parkinsons vs the actual scan potentially causing claustrophobia was a lot. For those who do need to do this, you can see out of the sides and it’s not always just in front of your face. It rotates slowly around your head a little at a time. You can just lay there and see out the sides and part of the top when it’s in your facial area so it’s not claustrophobic like an MRI is. For mine it started above me and moved a few degrees to my left facing upwards, stayed for maybe a minute or two and moved again. All very smooth and at my clinic they had a nice art on the ceiling of clouds so you could just focus on that or just close your eyes and chill until it’s done. I have a tremor but was able to be comfortable head wise to hold my head still and didn’t need the wedges. I think they did use some stretchy tape to tape my head down but didn’t really feel trapped or constricted. My arms needed a place to go and there are no armrests so that’s a flaw in design but they gave me a big loop of vinyl that goes under your arms and velcros on top but not velcroed to the table so I could have taken it off if I wanted to. The point of that was you can then relax your arms in this wide loop of vinyl fabric (like a pool float) and just lay there and zone out. It wasn’t that long feeling after the 3 hour wait from the time you get a thyroid blocking medicine orally and Iv tracer. If you have trouble with IV placement you can request a nurse that’s more expert at IV’s so no need to dig around to find a vein. They have an ultrasound machine and can find one that way. Not everyone has that problem tho so no worries if you have good veins. Good luck to anyone worried about this. I was lucky and no signs of degeneration.

    This is an outdated procedure. I just had a thyroid scan. There was a cone attached to the plate that enabled the plate to be at least a foot from my head. It was not claustrophobic. And I was not in any way strapped down. I snuggled under a warm blanket, but that was it.

I have a feeding tube, and I'm on tube feeding, and have a ventilator that connects to a tracheostomy. I don't empty right. My stomach is a mess. I think I'd be better on TPN, but Mom and the Drs. don't want want me on TPN. When TPN is such a great nutrition strategy! I'm losing wait once AGAIN!!

    I’m trying so hard to get out of this test, I’ve had some “mystery stomach illness” I had a barium swallow test no real result but suspected gastroparesis but, mild. since April 2021, it’s comes and go’s some months it spirals up ITHER times not, it’s mainly getting nauseous and cramps. I’ve been on meds for it to help my appetite and it works amazingly and I’m completely fine just being on it, no problems no nothing. I’m doing great but every time I see my dam gastro doctor she tells me oh this is wrong and that, she makes me cry every time and she couldn’t care but she says she does. She wanted me to get a endoscopy mind this I’m terrified of throwing up and never have during any of this, I’m also terrified of being sedated. It took my a month begging my mom to cancel it. She finally gave in but said I had to get this. I agreed, now I’m having people tell me on TikTok that it’s hell and it makes everyone feel horribly sick after and the thought of radioactive eggs?! I get sick to my stomach every time I eat eggs, and if I’m being honest. I may throw up from all of that, which would send me into a full panic attack. I’m getting the test in 7 days and I’ve been begging my mom and I need ANY HELP OR TIPS to get out of this I just want EVERYONE to understand though I may not be my best off of my 5 ml dose of stomach medicine. 💀 IM FINE

      Super late, but I've seen multiple people claim they had little to no problems after and have gotten to do it with oatmeal or in liquid form depending on where you get it done. I would talk to your doctor to see if you can choose or just request liquid, as it also doesn't take as long as the solid test. As for the radiation, from my understanding they make sure it's a small enough dosage to not cause an insane amount of damage. Good luck with your health. 👋🏽 Edit: also heard people got toast or at the very least salt and pepper, if that helps! Congrats on your bravery just in case I'm too late for any of this info to matter! 👏🏽
