I generally disregard the dex entries stating that mega evolution hurts the pokemon. Its contradicted basically everywhere, from the story to the side material, and even other dex entries. Its obvious the rotom dex was just kinda shit when it came to mega entries. It would also occasionally mention megas being in the wild, which is impossible. Outside Rayquaza, its made very clear that mega evolution requires a trainer. I usually take the dex at it's word, but its pretty obvious these ones are bunk.

I'm just now imagining a Volo fight where he brings out 18 'roided out legendaries for you to have to fight. Something along the lines of merging all the gimmicks together.

The only reason it supposedly hurt them is because gamefreak decidided that they wanted people to stop liking mega evolution when they didnt keep it in the next games. The dex entries aren't in the games where mega evolution debuted, so i dont really see them as canon. The entries sound like they were made by someone who doesnt know about pokemon at all, cause it contradicts how that world is supposed to work lol

I absolutely ADORE this theory about the giants being third "box" legendaries -- given that Volo started off with one -- and I Desperately hope he comes back in ZA to continue his vengeance against Arceus... but I feel like this narrative is too well-written thought out for it to possibly be real 😭

bird keeper toby or lockstin had a good video a couple years back on the third legendaries being tied to something mythological or alchemy related. necrozma for light, the poison type eternatus for I think alchemy or something, zygarde and terapagos for whatever. yeah, I don't remember it exactly, but it was something like that and it was really well researched by them. the 4 are part of something, which the 3rd legendary of gen 10 might be. okay my comment is a horrible attempt to summarize their video, I would recommend their video. to add to the shittiness of my comment, I don't actually remember what the video was called.

Heh, I mean, Mega Evolution is literally just shapeshifting/transformation into an alternative form of the original creature's body, or as I like to call it, "Morphing" or "Chemical/Body Reaction", which is another form of torture (and yet Torture is one of the fetishes I like just as much as body inflation)....Anyway. Very nice way of putting all of those into one video. I didn't really care too much about mega evolutions, much like how I didn't care about street racing and car customization in the Need For Speed Second Generation type of games.

Ah, finally someone brings this old explanation for the origin of Mega Stones outside of just comments up again. Well, except the last part with Volo. That the Ultimate Weapon infused one or more meteorites was pretty accepted years ago and people seem to just have forgotten about it while poketubers post even wilder and wilder theories that strain even further from what we actually know and what makes sense.

Mega Evolution is both natural and man made. Lucario is currently the only known natural Mega. The others seem to be created after the ultimate weapon was used. Battle Bond existed alongside natural Mega Evolution, the counter to Mega Evolution, and cause the near extinction of the Kalos Starters, leading to the extinction of Battle Bond in the preserve bred Starters. Only rare cases of the ultra rare wild Kalos starters have it. Mega Evolution causes a rapid evolution in a Pokemon to release the dorment potential of the Pokemon. It hurts in the moment of transformation and reversion, more so in species that aren't natural Mega Pokemon.

The thing that drives me insane about the keystone/mega stone/meteorite connection is that we have a perfect tie-in to it all that would even explain the DNA pattern in the stones : Deoxys ! The virus in a meteorite that mutated enough to become a Pokémon, and was made a main story focus in OrAs ! It’s insane how many of these things just overlap, but with no official connection actually made.

Lol, so your 4 lines are non mega, mega, 1-3, and ?... Really?. Gen 1 is separate for not having dark/steel types. 1 always say each gen/console system is a separate universe. Including things like future regions not existing in each. Trying to make a gen 1-9 timeline is only possible in gen 9 but would still be slightly different from things we know from other gen universes.

Then why does a Mewtwoite exist? Same goes for X and Y Mega Evolution variants. If the meteorite absorbs life energy from Pokemon, why don't all Pokemon mega evolve? Why just their final stages? Why not in between? (I know the obvious answer is GameFreak doesn't want to design all of them and all that, but an in universe explanation is required for fun)

So, did you intentionally jump from gen 4 to gen 6? Gen 5 was the reset. The story of the 'one', splitting itself into light and dark is gen 5's Original dragon, splitting into Reshiram and Zekrom... Then Kyurem is like Giratina, being the forgotten third. You could expand that idea farther out, and say that the light/darkness sides are Ultra Necrozma and Eternatus. I'd assume that this story is the actual beginning of the World Tree story by being what the life seed was planted in. In retrospect, the life seed ends up being 'the mega universe'

After I finished PLA I had a vague theory about Volo potentially coming back, mostly based off of his "even if it takes me centuries" line, but I ended up dismissing it as wishful thinking But this ties it up together SO nicely, I really really love it! I think Mega Evolution only causes pain if the Trainer doesn't have a strong bond with their Pokémon, since the whole trust power of friendship part makes the transformation easier, and it would take a close friendship for one of your mons wanting to go under a physically straining transformation It also explains how villains in the games, manga and anime can use it without the whole friendship part

My headcanon for how evolution works is that it's the bio-energy of the Pokémon growing beyond what its current form can sustain, and its body radically changing to accommodate a new base power level. Mega Evolution is the mega stone reradiating accumulated bio-energy to expand the natural resevoir even further, and the reason Mega-evolution is harmful to some Pokémon is because it's an incredibly recent phenomenon in geologic time; the species performing it haven't had time to refine the anatomy of the next stage, so unlike the natural metamorphosis of standard evolution, Mega Evolution is purely mutagenic.

I already knew all that about Mega Stones and Key Stones, but almost nobody believed me. And I think Mega Evolution hurts Pokémon it holds Pokémon Life Force. The Pokémon gets filled with a huge amount of Pokémon Life Force coming from the stone, one so big that it can't handle it. It's too much power to control, and it hurts the Pokémon. Unless the Pokémon has a human it can rely on to carry that burden. In that case the Pokémon can handle it and control itself. It's what we see in the anime with Korrina and her Lucario. I think it's also interesting (and horrible) how the Devon Corporation canonically uses Pokémon Life Force. And where could they get it other than by draining it from Pokémon themselves ? And draining that energy, as we've seen in X Y, is a horribly painful process that can end the Pokémon's life if not stopped on time. That's already worrisome and makes you understand better why Zinnia hates Devon, but the fact that they have human Life Force for the rocket is also worrisome. They drained the Life Force of Pokémon AND humans, and they probably kept draining the humans until they died, because if they lived, they could tell about the atrocities Devon commits on a daily basis. Heck, it's possible that Aster, the previous Lorekeeper who Zinnia was very close to, was killed by getting her Life Force drained by Devon, just like who know how many others. Another good reason why Zinnia hates them.

Simply put it Rayquaza eats Deoxys and their meteors as well as cores. It hates Deoxys because it can't eat anymore Cores or it will die. Plus it seems like Rayquaza was made to be a defence mechanism by the planet to fight against meteors like the Meteor from the banned pokemon episodes and other ones like the original tao Dragon and other meteor based legendary/mythical pokemon like Eternatus and possibly Necrozma (black Minior look like necrozma in it's powered down Injured form and Minior is said to be eaten by Rayquaza).

I think it’s the ghost of the original Pokémon war or other Pokémon ghosts giving the living special spiritual powers/energy to allow for an extra evolution. A sort of ancestral love if you will. A mega marrowack should exist! Keystones are made by or even from human ghosts that did not get reborn (or rehatch rather) as ghost Pokémon. Maybe it even happens as they turn into Pokémon?
