You are right about "vashta nerada" sounding East European/Slavic though not witch related (you probably meant something on lines of Baba Yaga). It's unclear whether the name was actually taken from this, but "vashta nerada" (just in Cyrillic letters) is very close to "not happy for you" in Bulgarian language ("not happy to see you" or "you'll not be happy" - not sure which is closer here) And "Ms Evangelista" actress is a good example that you can be smart and pretty - she was learning for natural sciences degree around the same time, didn't finish but not due to being stupid - moved to US after marrying Elon Musk. And continued to a degree after divorce.

There are words that can be used for medical doctor, highly educated person and at least a high-level martial artist if not a warrior all the way - e.g. Japanese "sensei".

Gimmick aside,.this is a legit good movie. The cast and crew did a great job recreating a 70s devil horror film on what was a very small budget. This movie could had easily had been msde in the 70s and look and sound exactly like this.

I know this is a way too late explanation, but those lines were just included to justify/hand-wave an explanation for the doctor not having used such a device in the past, despite having supposedly owned it for an unspecified amount of time. Making it a present from a godparent initially dismissed as junk makes the Doctor sound relatable, because a lot of us have at times been unappreciative of gifts, (or had the gifts we gave to others go unappreciated,) only to find an occasion in which said gift was useful, writing it that way allows us to quickly understand how such a item could go unused and therefore unmentioned, (until the narrative called for it,) of course outside of the fictional world of Doctor Who, the device itself never coming up before is because it’s a literal plot device invented for this story to move forward the narrative. Hence it only appearing here, allowing the writers to find a way to avoid turning the Sonic into a magic wand that solves problems and makes the show boring, cheap and predictable, having served it’s purpose it never shows up in another story.

Thus episode is weirdly realistic in terms of human psychology. The way fear and paranoia changed them so quickly and turned them against one another is so real. And the fact that the only 3 humans on the trip who had even a moment of good sense were the only 2 black women on the trip, and a teenager, so they were all told to shut up and were thoroughly ignored. Idk if they did that on purpose, but it totally tracks.

Still probably the best Who episode ever. Award winning script. Academy Award nominated actress. Plus the amazing regular cast & crew.

Why are you speeding up the dialogue in certain places it’s annoying as hell.

I must have watched 100 reactions to this great episode and nobody has ever mentioned that the brilliant award winning actor Derek Jacobi is dressed like and seems like a version of the very first Doctor William Hartnell.

Why are you skipping episodes?

I love it when shows use costuming to show things. Doctor Who doesn't do it a lot, or at least, doesn't do it as consistently as they did with Donna and Ten. They very much say 'Hey these two share a brain' throughout the season and it's funny until it's not. In every episode besides The Runaway Bride, Planet of the Ood, and Midnight they are matching and those are only exceptions cause Donna is wearing a wedding dress, just a coat, and really isn't in the third and is in a robe the short time she is. Out of 14 episodes, there are those 3, she wears a blazer and suit pants in 3 other episodes, Partners in Crime and the Sontaran 2 parter, in the last 3 episodes she is wearing the long brown leather jacket, Pompeii and Wasp are historicals, and in the Library 2 parter she wears like an undershirt, a shirt, and a vest which I think is a ridiculous amount of layers for them all to be tank tops and the Doctor loves his layers. The only time she doesn't emulate his style in any way with no extenuating circumstances is in The Doctor's Daughter. On the Doctor's side it's more subtle cause he just has the two suits but in every episode, his tie always matches her outfit. Like in Partners, his tie is red and in Pompeii it's purple. Plus, in all three of Ten's seasons, we only see him in his shirtsleeves twice once on the rooftop in Runaway Bride when he gives his suit jacket to Donna and at the end here after he has erased Donna's memories. I feel like it's pretty classic costuming to go 'The emotionally closed off and constipated character wears lots of layers and only takes them off around people who understand them.' He takes his suit jacket off only for Donna and it's at the very beginning of knowing her and at the very end after they have said goodbye.

The deaths in Smith and Jones didnt happen because of the Judoon directly if i remember correctly but that they nearly took too long to return the hospital even after the alien was found - without correct oxygen. So without finding the alien thats probably what happened too

your not wrong the issue was that they had a little tie their schesuld time to film this episodes so they do it in this way because like that they will allow them to prepare and work on their other compromise jobs. and if you want you can get the box set of Big Finish center on Rose all the adventures that she had before to this episode. And also on Pommpei one of the sears said is returning.. 😊

It's hilarious and yet has an undercurrent of horror - very much like a blend of the Hinchcliffe/Holmes and Williams/Adams eras from the 1970s - with much better production values. I think we're in for quite a treat over the next few weeks!
