Sew a dart with just one thread!
The invisible dart! Well, it's not really invisible, but this is a way to not have a big obvious knot at the point of your dart and make it looks as clean as possible! The best part is, it's super easy! I love this trick and it blew my mind when I first saw it. What do you think? Will you try it!?

Wow! What a concept - never would have thought of it on my own. Thanks so much for sharing!!
So interesting, right!? Thanks for watching!💚
Please share details about the elastic cord you use - I'm in need of one! TIA.
This was just some elastic I had lying around. Any thin elastic will work. I used 1/8" round elastic.💚
@@creativecostumeacademy Thanks. Can you describe how you looped the elastic around the power cord - looks like another loop? Appreciate your willingness to share how you set up your iron.
@@maryjackson5906 That was a pleather loop thing they gave with the iron and an S hook that also came with the iron. I just toed the elastic between those two things. Happy to help! I love these irons! 💚
I've known about this for years but I've never seen someone do it. Super cool!
Happy to show you how it works. Pretty easy! 💚
That is so clever.
Thanks for watching! So neat, right?! 💚
That’s a neat little trick.
It's a fun one! 💚
Wow! I'll have to keep this in mind for sheer fabrics. Thanks for posting!
So glad it will be helpful! 💚
I physically felt my mind blow when I watched that! That’s awesome. Thank you!
Lol!! I am so happy to blow your mind!! Ha Ha! 💚
Game changer!!❤️
Now you have this in your back pocket! 💚
This is a clever and helpful tip, and much simpler than pinning or sewing in a strip of fabric that needs to be on grain. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
So happy you find it helpful! Thank you for watching! 💚
Buttons, buttons, who has the buttons knowledge? Tricia does!! Yes, please, more button content because I am starting to make my own buttons. Knowing how to put them on clothes would be timely information!!
You betcha! I love buttons and I love helping you make your own! 💚
Absolutely would love a deep dive. Love your videos Tricia! just an fyi - I live in montreal, quebec and we use the metric system and it's in these cases where a number like 5/8 would be easier to calculate in metric__ 5/8 = 15.88mm(rounded) and divide in 2. so for sewing it is so so much easier in metric. better precision because it's like counting 1, 2, 3! --well that is just my opinion 😉
It is much easier with metric....sigh that i learned with imperial. I have a conversion freebie that will be going out to my newsletter Monday. Happy you love the button talk. I'll add more button videos to my list. 💚
Thank you... very informative... from South Africa xx
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful. 💚
Excellent lesson. I could have used this a week ago😅
So sorry it wasn't there when you needed it! Hope it is helpful for next time. 💚
Love to see covered buttons and horizontal buttons. I learned this not too long ago about button placement for men and women. Women are always right and men are left overs.
My favorite saying that always helps me remember! Lol. 💚
Yes, I would love to go down the button rabbit hole! Thank you!
Button Rabbit hole on the list! Thanks!! 💚
Great info. I usually make vertical buttonholes.
So happy it's helpful! 💚
Be careful about using synthetic pressing cloths. My iron tends to run HOT...and I went to press something synthetic and it just MELTED away under my iron! I had to really heat my iron up to get the residue off it and then sandpaper it till it was clean. Needless to say, I was NOT happy about it!
great point! This is why silk organza would be the best thing to use. 💚
I don't understand the last bit about the seams. Walk your seams? Can you explain?
Walking your seams is a pattern technique to check to make sure your seams are the same length. I have another video about this and it is something that my students learn in the very beginning of working with me. 💚
I am teaching millennial friends to sew. This will help them keep going at home sometimes. Thanks.
Thank you for watching! Hope these tips can help! 💚
I don’t mind ironing if it’s for something I’m sewing. I haven’t been in very good mood for sewing this past month. I was told by 3 Doctors that I had cancer starting October 28. The day before Thanksgiving I had a procedure an endoscopy and the Doctor came and told me and my husband that there was absolutely no evidence of cancer anywhere. I do need to get my gallbladder removed. So no a little ironing isn’t going to get to me. Best Thanksgiving ever!
I am so sorry that you are having such scary health struggles, You are right, compared to all that, I would take ironing any day! I have had my gallbladder removed. If it is causing your grief, get it out of there!! I am very happy to hear that the doctors said there is no evidence of Cancer! Celebrate every win!! 💚
Yikes! 💌 for the happy in your Thanksgiving day. Sew when you're ready, and jump on or binge watch until then.
I’ve never seen the organza idea before. Thank you!
I learned that when I was auditing a couture sewing class. It's so nice to be able to see through to your project! That is what has always bothered me about the muslin ones. So happy it helped! 💚
The timing of this Tricky Thursday is perfect! My 4th tool is a tailor's clapper to set the steam press. 1st is my fancy store- bought model. Next is a home shop find-an 8" long 1.5" x 1.5" table leg. I carry one in my travel kit. (I had four and gave two away.)
YES! I didn't have a clapper until recently and I love it! American Modern Vintage has some beautiful clappers if you are interested in getting one. 💚I'll be doinga video about them soon!
Dynamic Duo👍🏾
Thank you! You are so sweet! 💚

Hello from Houston, TX
Hi

wow, what a great way to finish!! thank you for sharing Tricia!! 💖
So happy you like it! Thanks for watching! 💚
Warning….this is a sales pitch. Nothing to learn here.
I'm not selling anything here. I am explaining how I teach differently. Feel free to keep moving if you don't find this helpful. 💚
Thanks, one of my used machines came with a (very rusty) double needle so I know it can do it, but not knowing how, I used the zigzag for the swimsuits I made this summer. Now I'm more confident to give it a try next time I need to work on a knit, presuming I can get any of my zigzag capable machines to behave (everyone except the antique hand crank machine has decided to have inconsistent tension issues and maybe timing issues, I need to do some tinkering with hte herd after Xmas when I've got time).
Are there different tricot interfacings for wovens than knits? Googling has only made me more confused on this. Good timing as I am just making a toile of a new pattern that calls for a neck facing. Looking forward to trying this!
I think there is a different tricot that may be specifically for knits. The tricot I use has a little bit of stretch on the crosswise and I have used it for some stretch wovens. Glad it is timely and hope it helps! 💚
Awesome way to do a facing and it looks so professional.
Thanks! I think so too! 💚
This is a great tip. Thank you
You are so very welcome! Thanks for watching and supporting! 💚
YES I would be very interested in learning about the Haslam system, and others.
Ok! Noted! Thanks for watching! 💚
You're a genius.
Lol! I didn't make it up, but I do use it a lot! ☺💚
What a great tip. Thank you!
Glad you like it! 💚
This is such a great technique. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you 😆
Yay! I am so happy it is helpful! 💚
❤❤❤ this idea
Thanks for watching! 💚
I'm wondering why your voice is loud then quiet then loud...
I was having some problems with my headphones.... technology is glitchy some times. 💚
Hi from Texas!
Thank you! This is an awesome idea for pattern needs to meet! Thank you both!! Super cool
😅 1:00:36 Thank you❤❤❤❤
Yay!! So happy you are here and watched! 💚
I have tried this on a few shirts. The first couple turned out fairly well except there was a ridge between the two thread lines. I tried playing with tension but it didn't change anything. But then I had the stitches pop in the hem on one shirt. I thought maybe the regular thread just didn't stretch enough so I tried a stretch thread. It worked okay fot most of the shirt then six inches from finishing, it decided to birds nest on the underside and nothing I have tried (new bobbin, tension, rethreading) had worked to keep that from happening over and over. I gave up and hand stitched the rest to sorta look like twin needle on the top till I can figure out how to fix the issue or borrow my friend's coverstitch machine. Any ideas on how to remedy this? Should I just stick to regular thread and not use the stretchy thread? Thanks!
Wow! Don't you just hate when the machine won't do what you want it to do?? I have had the problems with the tension and found by loosening the bobbin tension, that helped a lot. I have had problems with them skipping from time to time and wearing out faster than I would like. Sometime I try sewing from the other direction and that will work better. Sorry you had such trouble with your double needles. I hope it goes better next time. Sometimes it's just not a good day for sewing! 💚
OMG, i am learning soooo much from you, thank you Tricia ❤
Love how you make things so simple, thank you ❤
This tip was TOO GOOD not to share! 💚
OMG, i never thought of having a fitting bag 😮, that is so cool
Keep everything in one handy place. It makes it easy to get what I need really fast. 💚
Just watched your TH-cam all about the darts 😂, I didn't realise you could do so much with just the darts. Brilliant 👏 ❤
It's ALL about the dart! So happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 💚
Very timely as I am just trying my first t-shirt like pattern right now. And cool to see you using the same machine that I use!
Yay! You will love this method! I love this model of Bernina. It is THE BEST and only domestic machine I use! 💚
I have some twin needles at work and wondered what they were for/ how to use them. Thanks!
Cool! I hope you will give them a try! 💚
I’ve practiced with the twin needles and did pretty decent. I was sewing quite a bit but things happen in life to throw you for a loop. I’ve just been diagnosed with cancer. Emotionally I just haven’t been into really anything. I was going to work on some pants today but had other things happening. I really appreciate your tutorials.
Oh Victoria! I am so sorry to hear about this diagnosis. Be easy with yourself, but keep up the fight. I am happy you find some joy in my videos. Sending you a huge hug and tons of healing vibes. 🤗🙏💚
@ Thank you so much. Once I conquer this we will be visiting our grandchildren in North Carolina.
🥰🙏🙏💝
Love love love how you explain everything and share your tips. Love all your videos ❤
Yay! Thank you so much for watching. I am so glad it is helpful for you! 💚
