    You really hit the nail on the head when you said injuries happen when load exceeds capacity, not necessarily whether the back is rounded or not. Most people blindly suggest that you should never deadlift with a rounded back without addressing the fact that a lot of elite lifters actually lift that way, and that you can train yourself to lift that way (I'm not saying you should lift with a rounded back though). You did a great job addressing this!

    Thank you Annie! So helpful and clear. I was always hesitant about arching my back! Now I get why it is actually safer to do it. Do the same principles apply for the DB bench press?. Thank you!

    • @AnnieMillerCo
      @AnnieMillerCo 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep! And incline bench as well though the arch is less aggressive there as it’s a bit a hybrid between bench and overhead press. Still looking for a packed shoulder and good range though.

      The most solid takeaway consistently is, scientifically, doing partials near complete contraction yields the least... less net return on investment... most gains occur from either 'full range of motion' or partials closer to full extension (least leverage) also, watch Jeff Nippard please...

    I’m so glad you posted this. I recently went through the SAME thing… did my lower body lift then spent the rest of the day at my desk… walked to the washing machine to start laundry and as I was standing completely still I felt my back sort of lock up, (slide out of place almost). I’ve also had a history of back issues but this time it was the worst it’s ever been. Im convinced it was the sitting, not the lift that messed me up. All of what you have said here is SO HELPFUL.

      I would consider this an advanced movement that one would need to progress to. It's not dangerous to add weight to, or bad for the knees if someone has built the capacity to do so. :)
