In the late 00s a church I was a member of at the time had sublet the entrance/day room area (3:45) for church service as well as an adjacent hallway with rooms for sunday school. We even had a halloween party and trunk or treat. Surprised to find out about the asbestos.
Very cool place and history! My cousin Bobby worked there and retired before the closing. He did many years as a welder. He even got my Dad in there as a machinist.
Magnificent and glorious buildings and grounds. Itâs too bad these glorious buildings and magnificent grounds couldnât have been repurposed as a school or a hospital.
When did the nun run the place?
THANK YOU for doing this video. I was born at WRAMC in '71, raised in Forest Glen, and my dad (ret LTC) was a pioneer in social at WRAMC under Gen Robert Bernstein. I wish my dad and the General were around to see this. It would bring back so many memories for them, as it did for me! You have captured our history :)
Been in quite a few of those buildings and the tunnels seem like they went on for ever , I grew up in kp and most of my family were employed by the state . My father drove a truck and bus for the state used to take the clients to camp upstate it was always an experience when me and my brother went on those trips. Good timesâĶ
How to find my birth mother? My birth certificate has this listed as my birth place.
My sister and I were placed there around 1953 and quickly fostered out separating us by sending us to different families. We were reunited with our mother around 1960 when she remarried. Can't really say I have happy memories of this period in my life. Life took a much better turn thanks to my stepfather, a great dad to us.
Debra Logan was first stop in the suctues
Lamont used to be the cottage where they locked you up to disciple you. They had metal rooms, gave you shots to calm you down etc. bad place.
Was there in the sixties 1967-1969 A lot of history good and bad.
The building is Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) which moved to Forest Glen Maryland decades ago. Lots of "stuff" went on in there.
Lot of good times had in that place
I remember all I myself was put in dat home years ago
me and some friends ate a buncha mushrooms and broke in at midnight one night through the sewers, it was INTENSE
Ghost ðŧ town ð ð ð wilmington delaware ð ð 2024
I worked there. Until I became disabled with a broken arm due to a patient madness. The place now ?? Government waisted tax payers money ! Should be fixed by now ..
How many acres was it, and man at the asbestos!
I use to always here of my older sibling's going here and always wanted to, but i was to young and they would go at night so iet was kinda scary. I just remember them always telling story's about what then would find and what it looked like.
It was a great place. Definitely missed ! sleighton farm school is not far.
What a tragic waste it was to tear this place down.
In 2009, I went to the management about a dancer. I had been a regular customer of hers. Anyways, they had a talk with her, told her she had to do better, this and that. She was eventually fired from the club three months later for completely different reasons. She actually blamed me for her firing because she said that me talking to the management "got the ball rolling and led to her dismissal three months later". First off, I had NO such power to influence such decisions made by management. Second, the management would NOT decide to fire her and then wait three months to take any action. That's pretty illogical. I saw the girl not long ago. She didn't hesitate to remind me "you got me fired from a damn good job at a damn good club, I had to go to work at another club after that and it wasn't the same". Of course, I didn't get her fired. She has just always blamed me for it, thus absolving herself of any wrongdoing. I say all that to say, I don't think she understands that that was forever ago and she would NOT STILL be dancing to this very day, anywhere, and definitely NOT at that same club. I tried explaining to her that that kind of entertainment is NOT what it used to be by ANY means and she best be glad she was in it back when it was still fairly lucrative. Plus....she's not old, per se, but she's certainly too old to be dancing now!
Just found the remains on google maps, had to find an urbex vid to see what it looked like before.
Wow! I can't believe St. Vincent's is gone! I was there from Nov. '79 to Aug. '80. Met a lot of nice kids, nice child care workers, and nice nuns! I went to St. Hubert's and my sister went to St. Peter's. They treated us so good. I'm blessed with one helluva memory so I remember EVERYBODY...including Father Spaits and his dogs! ðð
Where is this located
Hunting Park Ave in the Nicetown section of North Philadelphia.

ALL of Allentown State Hospital was raized a few years ago. At a cost to the tax payer of THIRTEEN MILLION DOLLARS. It's TWO HUNDRED acres was then sold to a private concern for only FIVE MILLION DOLLARS. That's TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS an ACRE! Considering the cost of land, that was quite a "steal."
I WORKED here from 2001-2005. In it's hay day, Granite Run AMC was the place to be. Always packed. On a weekend or during the opening of a big movie, the theatre would be sold out for both prime showtimes and we'd move over 1,000 guests through concessions for prime1/2 and turn over theatres in minutes Those seats were dirty back in the early 2000's, haha. The company that owned the (now demolished) Granite Run Mall kept raising rents and stores started closing, it became a ghost town. I think AMC saw the writing on the wall and stopped investing in the theatre. Another big problem was mice. So many mice. The exit doors on the interior theatres lead to an access hallway that was shared with restaurants on the other side. The restaurants would use the hallway o take trash out, and keep the hallway doors propped open and the mice would just walk in. We used to hang out in our cars and wait for the managers to leave. Then we would sneak back in, and screen new movies before they premiered. Thanks for the memories
I am amazed how you go to my hometown to video and you start the video off stating "Chester is Bad.." and you do absolutely NO research on any of the locations you comment on ill just pick one. Do you know what Bergers was???" I do and it was long abandon before i was born sir. Maybe if your going to explore a place do background on it first.
Constantly in the top 25 in murder rate per capita in the United States, so yeah, Chester bad.
I wish people would properly reasearch this place before saying what it was. It was much more than a TB hospital. The plumming thing is a lie. Look at some local papers and the truth will speak for itself.
I had no idea..
This abandoned building been sitting here an you just went without me this is unbelievable
OK this abandon building sitting there why canât someone are the money they give to other countries couldâve built a new place by refurbishing it lots of homeless vets, and that that came out of the service some people donât realize they donât have houses because they lived on military bases housing and also put services there Right there into the world and you could offer jobs for them working in that building. the vents are disabled to get a job working in the office and the building the government can rehire them
I was locked up in this place in the 90s
How was your experience there
When did this theater open
Be careful going here if you do I know people that went and they got chased out by some crazy guy in a blue truck
I will never understand people that don't make content breaking into places
Explored this place today, I totally enjoyed it. It did feel a little haunted in some places
These guys have nothing better to do.

Crazy to see my hometown being explored!
wE usED tO haNG oUT baCK thERe ððĪĢððĪĢ
Crazy shit went on in those buildings and the tunnels
I worked in building 85 on the hill geriatrics
What a crime to tear down such a place that could easily have been converted to affordable housing etc for people. I'm sure what it would have cost to get rid of the lead paint and asbestos that was probably in there wouldn't have been cheap but still it's sad to just write it off like they did.
