Man that blows. This was the best movie theater in my area. I don't go often so I didn't even know this was closed/demolished 😢

In the booth you can see a That Darn Cat poster hanging on the wall. I have a pic of me in 1996 at that theater standing by that very poster when the movie was new! Crazy!

I WORKED here from 2001-2005. In it's hay day, Granite Run AMC was the place to be. Always packed. On a weekend or during the opening of a big movie, the theatre would be sold out for both prime showtimes and we'd move over 1,000 guests through concessions for prime1/2 and turn over theatres in minutes
Those seats were dirty back in the early 2000's, haha. The company that owned the (now demolished) Granite Run Mall kept raising rents and stores started closing, it became a ghost town. I think AMC saw the writing on the wall and stopped investing in the theatre. Another big problem was mice. So many mice. The exit doors on the interior theatres lead to an access hallway that was shared with restaurants on the other side. The restaurants would use the hallway o take trash out, and keep the hallway doors propped open and the mice would just walk in.
We used to hang out in our cars and wait for the managers to leave. Then we would sneak back in, and screen new movies before they premiered.
    Thanks for the memories

Great pick of song for the video!
I'm surprised you didn't show the box office registers. Prior to demolition, if you went matinee, you had to get your tickets at concession stand. Matinee was $4.99; after 5pm, it was $6.50.
How'd you get in?!?!? They had alarm sensors on the doors.
0:49 - that's where the pre-made bags of popcorn sat. I LOVED using the AMC Bucket Popcorn - $14.99 the first time (good for a year), $4.99 the next time you show up, but refills are free. (Pro Tip: Starve yourself for 12 hours prior to going to the movies. Get tickets to various movies back to back. That way, you can get full on one bucket/one large soda and get a refill of each before hitting the road.)
2:01 - That's the dimmers for the lights of 4 of the 8 theaters. Full light for cleaning between showings. The dimmer switch by the square windows at 3:06 was for soft light to be used during seating/previews/endings. The switch next to it was for climate control - it would be adjusted according to the comfort of the patrons; high cool for heat wave, medium warmth during winter time. The runway lights and the wall polygon lights were always on before and after the showing(s).
3:21 - THERE'S the panel you were looking for. See the yellow tape above the switches? Top 6 are for Theaters 1 - 6. Bottom row is for Theaters 7 and 8.
3:27 - that panel was dedicated to the sound system for each theater - amps, speakers, subwoofers. About a dozen or two per theater. The speakers was hidden in the maroon polygons on the walls.
Strange - they had seat backs to replace damaged seats, yet there was seats covered with cloth bags, requesting the patron not to use that seat.
8:15 - HILARIOUS! I'm surprised that they didn't use an Anser hand wand upholstery stain extraction machine to clean the seats at closing. The seats would be dry by opening tomorrow.
Loved going here in the 90's as a kid. Stopped going in the 2000's due to the riffraff hanging out at AMC and Granite Run Mall. Economic troubles of the 2010's sealed theirs and GRM's fate.
I would've loved to say goodbye to it before the teardown. Oh well - hope you scored me a large butter popcorn, large cherry coke, pretzel bites, nachos (1 salsa and 1 cheese dip), and a box of Raisinettes! Thanks a bunch!

Saw a lot of movies there, even after an AMC closer to where I lived opened

I saw a ton of movies there growing up, and it's a shame they demolished it and the mall to build that crappy shopping center which last I heard was bleeding money. It has been open for over 5 years and still less than half of it's space occupied. I talked to a manager at the Petco (who used to work at the mall) and they said every store besides the food places were struggling badly.

I know this place has been sort of vacant for quite awhile, but I remember my family and I seeing Endgame there. We were the only people in the theater

Very poorly designed auditoria. All screens off center to accommodate poorly planned exit doors. Chairs filthy. Very typical of AMC.
