Vitae brevis cursus est, gloriae sempiternus.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (director's cut): Attacking the Death Star II - rough cut
A scene that never made it to the final cut, although this in Lucas' script for the movie. The excerpt is taken from Rinzler's book, 'The Making of Return of the Jedi. Enhanced Edition.'
Return of the Jedi is, in my view, the most flawed film of the original trilogy.
The reasons this film is not as good as the other two are, in my view, three: 1) Alan Hume as director of photography; the poor lighting style (good maybe for the '60s or '70s) can be seen esp. during the Endor shots and in the Throne Room scene, where Lucas added in post something on the emperor's face to improve the terrible lightning, rather than doing reshoots. 2) The absence of Gary Kurtz as producer: Howard Kazanjian replaced Kurtz after he resigned for going over-budget with Empire. While Kazanjian was very good in handling the colossal production, the lack of Kurtz's creative input during the shaping of the story resulted in a pointless tripartite second and third acts that deflated the overall narrative, making it anticlimactic. I doubt Kurtz would have quietly accepted Lucas' lame recycling of older concepts (bear in mind that George wanted to have TWO new death stars originally!), or the introduction of the teddy bears. 3) The absence of Marcia Lucas, who divorced Lucas in 1982, after a crisis that started during the pre-production of ROTJ. Say what you want, but as soon as they divorced, Lucas' creative outputs spiralled into madness and mediocrity (the Last Crusade is the only exception, but that's because Spielberg, thankfully, put his foot down). Marcia seems to have been the voice of reason that made Lucas' films better, both in terms of story and in editing.

Star Wars Episode VI. Return of the Jedi: 'Yub Nub' (early version in English) Jonathan Williams
มุมมอง 675 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the early version of what became the 'Yub Nub' celebration song by Jonathan Williams from the finale of ROTJ, before the words were changed to Ewokese. This version sounds more like an '80s pop song performed by a choir. The excerpt is from a near-final cut of ROTJ from early 1983. Lyrics YUB-NUB EEE CHOP YUB-NUB (Freedom … We got Freedom) AH TOE MEET TOE PEE CHEE KEENE G’NOOP DOCK FLIN...

Indiana Jones and The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Scene Comparison
มุมมอง 186ปีที่แล้ว
This video offers a comparison between two scenes from Disney's classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) and Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). These allusions serve (perhaps more subtly than the musical scenes) to lessen the dark tone of the plot, making it more corny and adventurous. Fair Use Disclaimer: this video is made ...

Sisko and Worf: the duties of a Captain (DS9: S04, E17)
มุมมอง 9883 ปีที่แล้ว
And we're back with another clip from DS9, season 4, episode 17: "Rules of Engagement". Worf had been slyly framed by the Klingons, who claim that he recklessly destroyed a civilian ship. Worf is put under trial: since his behaviour is that of a warrior, not a Starfleet officer, the Klingon advocate asks that Worf be returned to Qo'noS, where his peer would judge him. Thanks to Odo's investigat...

Let me start by saying: I love this episode, as corny and cheesy as it is! After watching, and not really enjoying, the last, joyless Bond instalment, 'No Time to Die', I really wanted to rewatch this episode and it did not disappoint me at all: it felt like a warm, comfy blanket! There is something magical about the first few episodes of DS9 Season 4: 'Little Green Men', 'The Sword of Kahless'...

“Never tell the same lie twice” - DS9: S03, E20
มุมมอง 79K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The clip comes from one of my favourite episodes of DS9, season 3 (“Improbable Cause”). This episode works so well because the writers intelligently set things up in previous episodes. This is not unlike the art of signposting in essay and creative writing. Now, this episode is crucial for the story arc of Deep Space Nine. This episode marks, in fact, the point of no return in Star Trek: the ch...
Garak and Bashir (DS9: S03, E018)
มุมมอง 3.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is a homage to one of my favourite characters of a TV show ever: Elim Garak. The only Cardassian left on Deep Space 9 (olim Terok Nor), a simple tailor, as he presents himself. Andrew Robinson is extraordinary in this role! This episode ("Distant Voices") is not among the strongest of Season 3, but I find the opening scene and the finale, with two strong dialogues between Garak and B...

There's going to be a Documentary on Disney+ all about the brilliant John Williams featuring interviews with Steven Spielberg and George Lucus. Can't wait to watch it. It should be brilliant. He's wrote so many fantastic pieces of music over the years. Superman, Star wars, ET, Jaws, Indiana Jones to name but a few. His music always fills me with emotion. He is my favourite modern composer. He's a genius.
Did Worf finally paid the Yridianer or not?
Greatest song ever!
so, why does kahless have those fore head ridges? he is a clone, he didnt have the genetic virus
Esse é o cara , indiana jones como ele nao tera outro igual
Good stuff! Post more scenes if you have them!
The fact that we don't even need AI for this master piece
I’m disturbed by the fact it’s normal for Klingons to exaggerate.
My favorite Indiana Jones movie is Temple of Doom. In Japan, it was given the subtitle "Legend of Evil Palace."🇯🇵 TOD is one of the best entertainment movies that America released in the 1980s, the final period of the Cold War, with a world view that was created freely and openly, as if mocking the Eastern Bloc countries. I live in Japan, and at that time, the movies that boldly competed with these Hollywood movies in the Japanese market were "Hong Kong movies from the British colonial period, before freedom had died out."😢 TOD begins in "Shanghai during the concession period, when freedom and chaos coexisted," before the war, and goes to "India during the British colonial period," where the story is about liberating Indian children who are under the control of an evil cult. There is a love romance with a beautiful heroine, and an Asian boy plays a major role as an assistant. The beauty of the young Indian sultan who is liberated from the control of the evil cult also leaves a strong impression. Just listening to each part of this theme brings to mind the famous scenes of TOD.😍 These elements have been almost lost in the current American movies that are bound by political correctness.😢 That is why I want the younger generation to watch American movies from the 1980s, starting with TOD. They are full of fun and excitement that need no explanation.😌
Many thanks for sharing this!
Edit: What Hollywood and Hong Kong movies of the 1980s had in common was that they were free and large-scale works with a worldview that was shot with a film camera without using CG. There were also great entertainment works in Japanese movies at that time, but they did not reach the scale of Hollywood or the grandeur of Hong Kong. Hollywood and Hong Kong movies at that time were the aspirations and goals of Japanese creators.😍 At the same time, it also meant that Japan chose to stay in the chaotic but free Western countries, rather than the dogmatic Eastern countries.😌 In today's Japan, there are some aspects where media such as manga, anime, and games have caught up with the former Hollywood and Hong Kong territories. However, Hollywood today is dominated by PCs, and freedom has been lost from Hong Kong.😇 Not only are both of them no longer the aspirations of current Japanese creators, but on the contrary, they are even beginning to fear that the domination by PCs and the death of freedom will spread to Japan.😱 When that happens, there is no doubt that sharpness and brilliance will be lost forever from Japanese subculture.😭 I believe that people in Western countries who were there at the time should take this seriously and realize how serious this is.😢
Interesting. The novel that adapts this scene says Leia get off the throne and pushes the Jawas away, but it seems that part either never happened or hadn't been filmed for whatever reason.
Thanks for the comment! That would have given Leia something to do here. In general, I guess the issue with this scene is that it show Luke using a force jump (as we've seen in Empire) but then he kills the rancor just by throwing a rock. It's a minor nitpick, but I can see why retrospectively they thought it might not work.
Geez, this is worse than the time we time traveled to the 50s!
I love 3:37 when Raiders March layers with Short Round's theme! I've watched this movie countless times but only payed attention to this when I watched the other day. Williams is beyond brilliant!
Garrett (the one obviously not in RLM) sucks so bad. He feels straight out of Channel Awesome. He should’ve been in To Boldly Flee.
Sounds like the family guy #2 end credits theme

I agree with you
I miss Jay's serial killer glasses.
I was 15 when I saw this at the Loews Astor Plaza in Manhattan - twice! It was a 70mm blowup from the original 35mm. Unforgettable on the big screen! I never had a better time in the cinema.
Thank you for sharing this! It must have been such an experience! Pity that critics were so harsh when they reviewed it. I love that Spielberg inserted the cheer moment at the end, before the credits roll (in Raiders he inserted it when Indy gets on the UBoat). The score is so elating and heroic. What a rollercoaster ride of a film this is.
I remembered alot said Crusade was the best film but honestly I don't see why as a kid I kinda found it boring compared to Raiders and Doom
He even swallowed the combs!

Great episode!
Makes me wonder what would it be like if Frank Sinatra (not Jr, Sr) created Family Guy originally as a series of musicals
Mike used to be good looking 😢
How many times have you listened? - "Lucky there's a family guuuuuuuuuuuuuy".
Is this before or after Worf began drinking prune juice? I would love to hear what Kahless thinks of it.
This was a cute and sad thought.

Not just one of the greatest Star Trek episodes, but one of the best sci-fi episodes in history! They don't make sci-fi like this anymore!
I love the subtle space totally not Arabs stereotype.
Also plays in the episode “Tales of a Third Grade Nothing” (Frank Sinatra Jr.’s second appearance),…BUT, only in the extended cut of the episode used on its DVD release and airings on Adult Swim; the regular version of the episode seen elsewhere places the credits over the final scene of the episode (Frank and Brian singing “Take Me Out to pLace Tonight”).
Even though Kahless can't provide any information on death and the next life, he responds with renewal and rebirth. Even though it's of the Klingon Empire and the hearts of its people, perhaps there some value in that answer.
It’s dead, Jim.
Still blows me away this was a Star Trek epsiode....
This new mod for "X-Com 2" looks amazing, Rich must still be playing it.👽
There seemed to be a lot of implied lore around Garak that never amounted to anything. Constant hints that he is incredibly dangerous, yet in the end he is a consistent ally.
I guess that, in so doing, the writers had plenty of possibilities to develop his arc in different ways.
Was that actually Frank Jr
Yes, and he was credited for his performance.
One of the amazing things is the storytelling is so good that we can totally believe that Kira- who's been emotionally broken down to one of the lowest points in her life- would instantly turn this man, who's effectively a total stranger to her for all she and we as the audience know, because there's something "real" about him in all of this turmoil.
Good soundtrack and movie
I agree with you
They should have brought the character back in DS9. We only get fleeting mentions.
