Very cool! A friend/former coworker has a house he rents on SGI. I've thought about getting a VW van. I don't know if you know about the channel 'micbergsma' but he is restoring a VW van completely, it is quite amazing and he has 80 episodes. He is originally from TX but now lives on Maui and has had the van in CA being restored. He named it Kona. Very great guy and excellent channel. He mainly has done a lot of GoPro tips and some product reviews but he would do these summer compilation videos and they inspired my first two videos on my channel.

$5000 was too much in my opinion, but you guys got a decent car.

If the rocker/valve covers are aftermarket items that could be the issue with the leak genuine factory originals should stop the leak I learned that lesson with a chrome Empi dress kit on my beach buggy I owned went for the billet rocker covers and cured it 😅

When I started working on mine a vw couple told me that a beetle will test your strength, patience, and persistence to the max. At the end of all it the enjoyment and satisfaction will be rewarded

i have reverse problems on mine i just push down once and it gets out of reverse fully or i wiggle it a bit and go into a few gears until 1st decides to work

Looks like a fun time with all the other VW Buses. Love to see them all grouped together :) We're heading out in our '68 Campmobile for the big Silvarado VW only campout next weekend in CA. Should be about 300 Buses in attendance. Great video, great tin top camper you have :)

Fun to watch, driving a Bug is a bit of a lost art form. My dad drove his 1969 Bug until age 92 and after he died at 100 I got it and have had a lot of fun driving it. Nice work!

looks like Florida or somewhere near there. You need to bulletproof it before she is driving that car. put some disc brakes on it so they dont need adjustment every month. Pointless distributor so they dont all of a sudden close up then she might not be afraid to drive it.

Looks fun. I’ve been to a VW Rally in Seattle and Denver. It’s amazing what people do to these old bugs and busses. I live in a Cowboy town in Wyoming, so I’m one of about 10 people who drives an old air cooled bus or bug. No VW Rally’s here. 😎👍

Tornados are rare in my part of Wyoming. I had several near misses in my 38 years of growing up in Texas. I’m a little worried about tornados on our trip to Florida next week. Glad y’all are safe..😎👍

Shift rod bushing kit should fix it up.

My 78 VW Bus has the same problem. I have a new coupler and bushings to install. Everything in my bus that I haven’t replaced is 46 years old and subject to fail at any time. Have fun.😎👍

I drive a 1978 VW Camper Bus in Sheridan, Wyoming so naturally I had to take a look at your channel. I left Texas in 1990, to escape the heat and humidity. Even though I grew up in Texas, I’d rather freeze to death than burn to death. My daughter and her family moved to Florida to escape the snow and live near the beach. I told her I would visit when the Iguanas are falling out of the trees from hypothermia. My wife and I are driving to Florida in ten days to visit the family and see what Florida is like. Glad to hear it’s still cool.😎👍
