    I m the only person who doesnt like th e ranunculous . To me it looks like a tatty old.dishcloth full of holes and it makes the wearer look like they are terrible knitters. 😆 so I find its popularity quite mystifying. Equally mystifying is that there are beautiful lace yoke tops such as Humle (a free pattern) which have only a dozen or so takers .

    I always have multiple WIPs. I’m like a magpie, I pick up a project as I learn a new skill or pretty yarn. Though I Recently I finished two WIPs and a brand new sweater (even though I had to frog the entire project due to making it way too large. Seriously, I could fit three hobbits as well as myself) in a matter of three months. Now I’m frantically trying to find a bunch of projects to start.😂

    This is the reason I made a Ranunculus. I didn't like the original photos, but I saw photos of linen t-shirt versions and I loved them so I made my own. It's not cropped, it's more fitted that the pattern photos, and I love it!

    Hi Claudia Have you ever got to sleeve separation and a few more rounds, then changed your mind. Ripped it all and sized up or down? I'm just not sure. My sweater fits but, just not that sweatshirt loose, comfy fit that I was wanting. Will I be able to block this yarn a little larger? If yes, I will keep on working the body and move ahead. Thx for your opinion!

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes I have! That's why we try it on. I might block to your liking but maybe not...If you aren't sure, you could block what you have by putting it on waste yarn.

      @cloknits my raglan line measures 9 inches right now. I can stretch it out comfortably. So I will know in my future,,,,,, I think I will continue on and see what happens! So far, I'm enjoying this pattern thanks to your great tutorial . I like the yarn, first time using it. It's soft n squishy n light. Nice price point. I need to make short sleeves because of where I live so, hope that will look OK. Thanks for getting back to me!! Appreciate you

    Hi! Your video is so interesting! I have never knitted a Ranunculus myself so I have no idea how the pattern is inside so it is great to hear your description! Last week, I released The Everknit cardigan that has the same background concept: can be knitted with ANY yarn, any gauge and it is for all the sizes! I have knitted my 1st version with a bamboo yarn for the summer. My 2nd one is with a big kid mohair and I added the sleeves (option offered in the pattern) and I also knitted one with sequins, so adorable! For every version I used less than 2 skeins, so also a good yarn idea project!

    Really helpful!! I've always needed to use needles two sizes different than the pattern because I was knitting too loosely --down low on the left needle rather than in tapered area of the left needle. This video is going to be a huge help. I was struggling with why I wasn't getting the same smoothness in the fabric as other knitters and I finally know it was a tension issue and how I can fix it. Thanks so much!

  • @agatheherrou7333
    @agatheherrou7333 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Ha, I stumbled upon it the other day and ultimately decided that I had already too much patterns in my wishlist already! I hadn't noticed it was to popular. A pattern that is less insanely popular but that I'd love to see discussed is the Wild Swan shawl. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of knitting I had the honour of making, and maybe the one that taught me the most. I feel like it's less popular overall because of its technicity but it still has its popularity in the "advanced knitter" niche. Tip for pronouncing foreign names: put it in Google Translate (latin alphabet transcription works fine for other scripts) and just repeat what you hear. Sure, you'll have an accent, but that's not a huge problem in my opinion if you get the phonemes right.

    I love this pattern! I had two different colors of the Lions Brand Summer Nights so i made one held single for summer and one held with mohair for winter. I also made one out of cotton for summer and another with mohair held double. Additionally i made one with boucle yarn that is for spring/beginning of summer since i can become a tad hot wearing it. After watching this i now would like to make another but maybe i can just gift it to someone 😀.

    I have already moved up a full needle size, but still have to many stitches in 10 cm to meet the gauge (18 stitches instead of 16). I feel like the fabric is becoming to lacey if i would go up even more. Do you think I could knit a bigger size and then knit it a bit tighter then the intended gauge to end up with a sweater that fits?

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes you could but you have to be aware that if you knit a bigger size, the yoke depth might also be different depending on your row gauge. So make sur you try as you go to adapt the depth if need be.

    THANK YOU For the 2nd method of swatching in the round. I always swatch (and wash/block), sometimes with 2 or 3 sizes of needles, and have noticed some differences with finished item even though I'm a fairly even & consistent knitter. I'm totally guilty of the garter stitch borders on my SS swatches, geez! Because that's how my favorite yarn store does it! I love learning new things!

    • @cloknits

    What an excellent and simple to understand tutorial. I noticed one more thing when knitting on the tips of your needles and allowing the barrel size of your needles to determine the size of your stitches. Once the knit stitch has been made and is now on your right needle, I always place my index finger on that stitch and hold it there as I'm inserting the tip of the needle to begin the next knit stitch. It makes it less likely that you will either tighten or loosen the stitch while moving onto the next one.

    Midori (she’s Japanese living in Northern Germany if I understand correctly) landed on my radar because of Ranunculus. At the time, with a kitty with claws, this open lace is a no no. I actually like other pieces better: polka dot cardi or dot dot dash. But now you have me looking at this again. Quick you say?😅 I think it was popular in the way that the Rhinebeck sweater thing was popular: you knit it so you’re in the in-group and people who know knitting and ravelry would know.

    I have long wondered why this pattern is so popular. I don’t care for the really wide cropped body of the sweater. It looks way out of proportion to me, especially on the tiny models. I have a long torso and cropped sweaters are not a good look for me. I didn’t know how versatile the pattern was. Thanks for the video. I’ve been calling it the ridonculous when I’ve seen it on the hot patterns page for years. 😅

    The tip that I think will help me most is measuring the stitch by making sure it's the size of the right needle before pulling it off the left. I think I tend to pull it off prematurely when the stitch is still on the tapered part of the right needle. Thanks for the tutorial!

    Not in my library or my queue. Not knitted one. Not going to either. Just not my cup of tea.
