What Materials can you print on a Prusa MINI ?
Where did you go for parts?
Hey, A mix of places. Shire bikes for the majority with Bens Bikes for the engine top end kit! some parts are harder to get hold of and need to be ordered from places like PHAT MX or TB parts.
Are those parts painted from the factory?
@@dcxplant Hey, based on research and a friend who restores these for a living, yes they are👍🏻 and if not they definitely look better painted 😀
@@MasonsWorkshop Thank you!! I have a '69 and a '78, this was great content. Thanks again.
@@dcxplant thanks for watching! Glad you enjoy it

Not sure how this video is. Is the bike for sale?
Sorry but the bike isn’t for sale!
@@MasonsWorkshop I can understand why! It’s perfect.
@@bobrewer202 Thank you ! It will be a beauty when its finished.

Great to hear. Looking forward to riding this one!
Nice to see youngsters working on these old bikes
Thank you! Seems peoples interests have changed a lot between generations, although I’m not sure it’s for the better 😀
can you open the front hood?
What kit did you use from Kitaco? I want to do this to my SL70 but cant even find number for your CT70
Hi there, I purchased the top end kit from Bens bikes UK. Link below: www.takegawauk.co.uk/product-page/kitaco-88cc-std-bore-up-type-6v I also got the kitaco clutch kit but this was from Shire bikes. and finally... I have a Kitaco exhaust as well which you will see in the next episode!
where did you get the castors from
Mac Industries UK, but they are available online easily!
多謝分享! Thx
I'm going to do this to my 1974 CT-70
@@bradjenkins4319 amazing! This bike should be up and running soon so I’ll share how it performs. Best of luck
My dad bought my brother one of these in 1969. I didn't start riding it until 1971 or 1972. I my grandfather sold it in 1985 to his neighbor for his neighbor's grandson. I think he got $200 for it back then. The clutch cable was gone but we still rode it. Never once did we get a flat tire in 16 years of riding that bike but my grandfather said both tires were flat when he sold it. It was awesome. The brakes were gone in it too but the dirt road by my grandfather's house was so long that even at top speed coming down there, we could always drag our feet and get it to stop. Just puttered around in the woods and back dirt roads all those years until my brother and I got too old for it and we joined the military. My grandfather wrote me and said he wanted to sell it so I told him to keep the money for all the years we kept it at his country home.
What a cool story! I wonder where that bike has ended up now. Can only hope its still being used. Thanks for watching and commenting
Great job i may tackle one of these myself... but why didnt you replace the regular nut on the head stud with an acorn nut?
@@scottmcboone2442 hey there, fun project. From factory these bikes came with one regular nut on the cylinder head hence me keeping as close to factory as possible!
@@MasonsWorkshop Thanks man, again great job!
I've had a 50 parts motor sitting for 10 years with a takegawa 88 cylinder. Now I want to build it
@@Dr650rob get that thing built!
I know i am quite late. What 3d printer are you using ?
@@cl5064 hi there, I am using the ‘prusa mini +’. I have a load of videos on my channel covering the machine!
Great job. Details like the zinc plated original nuts and bolts for the wheels make it extra special. The chain clip is on backwards at 8:00 .
@@Monkeyboy2457 I couldn’t agree more, it’s all in the detail. Thanks for notifying about the chain clip!
I don’t think the wheel hubs were painted ex works.
I am not 100 percent sure either, but I was told by a lot of people that painted was the closest to factory. from the pictures they dont look rough enough in pictures to be left raw.
Is this a street twin 900 or 1200
@@arunbabu855 this is a street twin which only came in the 900. The speed twin is available with the 1200!
Thanks, Street twin900 seat height is 765mm and 1200 seat height is 795mm if you managed to lower the 900 seat height lower than the stock height it will be definitely easier for short height people to handle the bike @MasonsWorkshop
Hey, would be nice to know what book you used there to know all the torque specs etc. or did you just torque them down like you thought it would be good? I have a St50E engine myself and would like to rebuild it so would be nice if you responded.
@@Dave-fr6si Hey Dave, I have a clymer manual for the Honda engine series which covers a large range of engines from this era. It details full torque specs and assembly methods which is very handy.
Thanks to you, I am able to produce industrial style pipe structures. I will try it soon. Thank you.
Hey, I am glad you found the video helpful!
What infill, bed temp, and nozzle temp do you use? (Thank you for covering this topic I have been having trouble printing my hatchbox tpu on my Prusa mini plus) (Good video)
Bed temp and nozzle temp is direct from the Prusa material guide. This is always my benchmark for setting up the machine. Infill I think was 10-15% but if your settings are correct I don’t see this having a huge impact on your prints! Best of luck and thanks for watching.
@@MasonsWorkshop One more thing btw, is there any tips you have to prevent stringing because that is a big problem for me when printing in tpu
Ingenious. Start with the engine and bolt everthing else to it. I would have probably assembled the frame, wheels and everything. Then try to mount the engine. 🙂👍
Thankyou, I have only learnt this from watching others! It does make it a lot easier when you know the best way to assemble.
Very nice work and very nice bike bro
Thank you
Парни привет! Не подскажите от какого мотоцикла колёса на спицах?
I may be wrong but I think they are off a triumph scrambler.
@@MasonsWorkshop На нём размер колёс другой. Спереди 19е. И на скремблер они бескамерные, спицы по бокам покрышки установлены.
Nice job! I really like these practical 3d prints.
Thank you, so do I! nothing better than printing something to use.
Hi could you give me the part number for shocks, just bought my wife a Street twin (shes 5’1) so will be looking to do this for her, id like to also thank you for such a good informative video 👍🏻
Hi, there is no direct link to the shocks on their website. I have attached the current Hagon price list for shocks. The ones in this video are the top 2 on the list. The best way to order is to call up Hagon and give your bike details and rider weight. That way you get a set of shocks to work perfectly for you. They are super helpful ! www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/common/pdf/Nov%202022%20Hagon%20Retail%20Prices%20TwinShocks.pdf Im glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks Mason
@Mason’s Workshop Great video! Mind sharing part numbers for all parts used please?
Hi there, tried to summarise it as best as possible below: - Kitaco 88cc STD-Type 2 Bore Up Kit Z50 6v: Bens Bikes Racing (no P/N shown) - Kitaco Manual clutch conversion kit: Shire Bikes 307-1123100 - Kitaco high flow oil pump: Shire bikes 331-1013300 - OHTOKC 6V Hitachi electronic ignition unit: OHTOKC: Shipped from overseas but great parts, be sure to select the right flywheel. - Bearings: Took old P/N and purchased from Ebay -Misc.: Shire bikes as they stock all of it in the UK. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info!
Amazing work! Keep up the video’s i enjoy watching😃
Thank you ! Very happy to hear you enjoy the content.
Have you replaced the piston rings? If so do you use OEM?
I made the mistake of not using OEM first time round. You can use them but I do think OEM is always the best choice! ( for this engine on standard bore anyway)
@@MasonsWorkshop where did you find oem at
@@gospelmusicchannel3064 Shire bikes stock OEM pistons and rings !
Hi, do you notice any flickering of the leds when the heatbed is moving/during printing?
Yes, I originally had this problem. I now use a separate power supply for the light which has solved the issue! Cheap and easy to install
good job Lad! Hope to catch you at a Monkey event some day!
Yes, that would be cool! As soon as my CT70 is done ill be booking in for some events.
Like to see the details of the ignition conversion assuming it would run without a battery for my project which is a custom and simplified as much as possible...jf...
Hi there, Yes no battery needed as there is 6v provided from the ignition to run basic system such as lights. Same function as the standard points ignition system but much improved. I would recommend it!
Lovely, the Oem Honda oil capacity decals are still available for the clutch casing
thank you, I will have to get these added! I did in fact miss a few other decals after having it painted!
Super nice job on the bike. Love this channel. I’m working on a 1968 Z50A right now. This helps out a lot. thanks
Thank you, really glad you enjoy the content! Brilliant, I hope it comes out well.
Gonna have to get that plug wire off the exhaust tho
What color did you use for the wheels?
Honda cloud silver!
Did you not weld out the top of the table properly or did you just leave it tacked?
Hey, they are large tacks in each side of the slot. Aim was to put minimal heat into the top plate to reduce warping. Table still being used with no issues.
*promo sm* 😆
Wow looks absolutely amazing! Really goes to show what a little painting and restoration can do! Great vid keep up the work.
Thank you ! I have to say that the fresh paint makes the biggest difference. You really forget what the original colour looks like after many years in the sun! Thanks for watching
So, please excuse for this stupid question but, with these bikes, do i NEED to get after shocks, like i cant lower the OEM shocks?
Some factory shocks can be lowered, but to have the best ride & comfort its always best to get some tailored ones with the correct spring rate etc.
Ah okay, also 1) where did you get your lower seat & if you did it local or yourself, do you recommend any good place ? 2) how do you feel about boots to add some height
@@Allhailmateo a local company cut the foam from the seat and refitted the standard cover, it is not too complex of a job so most places should be Able to do. As for the boots, if you feel comfortable and are in full control of the bike I see no issue!
@@MasonsWorkshop how much was it ? & does this compromise seat comfort?
@@Allhailmateo I am not sure of the cost but would guess approx. £100. It does compromise seat comfort but not enough to be largely noticeable. we purchased a spare seat so still had the original option if we didn't like it.
could we just start by replacing the standard nozzle with the polycrystalline diamond one then a carbon fiber reinforced glow in the dark filement??
I have not ventured into abrasive filaments where an uprated nozzle is needed. I will be digging more into ASA/ABS materials and what can be achieved with this machine using that in an upcoming video.
Madame why do you blaspheme??
What a superb project and place to start . I've just finished my 89 ST it had a few issues that fought me , love these Bikes they are ace , the structure is standard but the motor is modded ,running a Takagawa 88 r kit manual clutch, z50 4 speed bottom end .
Hey that sounds awesome! I am really excited to get this thing finished up! I will be sharing my thoughts in a video on how it performs when done, thanks for the comment.
@MasonsWorkshop looking forward to see the progress Mason , 👏 enjoy the vids keep them coming
Great video. Love the finished bike!
Many thanks! I am glad you like it
The other bike in the shed, what kind of saddle is that? Nice brown color!
Its a down and out seat that was recovered by our local leather upholstery company. Brown leather, black diamond stitching and triumph logo embroided on the rear.
@@MasonsWorkshop thanks 👍
