Are you able to camp closer to the water at all? Do you know if you can fish in that river if there is any fish?
@DKnight_78 when there's water in the river yes you can fish in there, but you can't camp too close to the river unfortunately
@ no worries, should be good with all this rain we had. Just looking for a nice river/camping spot to take some 12 yr old boys fishing and camping.
@DKnight_78 yes its a nice campground with toilets and the river near enough to walk too
Good little all in one unit.
Sure is
Weigh the battery if it's less than 11-14 kilograms for a 100 amp hour lithium ion phosphate battery then it's a fake
I had one of the kings 40a dcdc and found that on solar, even with good sun and 500w of solar panels, it puts power in for about 2 mins, then takes a 30 second break, then 2 mins, and so on. Over the day that 30sec gap every 2 mins adds up to quite a lot of lost input. I also installed one of them in my in laws motorhome and before even going for a trip it started blowing fuses, returned it to kings and they determined it was a complete failure internally and i got a refund and bought a used redarc dcdc 25 amp with no solar, and then added a victron 100/30 and its super reliable now. Kings batteries are good, and their new 300w folding solar panel does 280w most of the day so thats good too. But anything else electrical from kings ill be staying away from now.
@lexicase8805 it's good to hear good and bad about kings. Just makes them hopefully improve their product. Have slowly seen a good improvement with most of their products over the years. This is the first 40 dc dc charger of Kings that I've installed.
@WEEKENDER4X4 yeah, i have a few ok things from kings, 3 120ah lithium, 4 60ah, the fridge door organiser thing for the upright fridge (that has really wonky stitching though lol) and yeah two of the old model 250w folding glass solar panels, both do 200w reliably and run part of my house off grid so they're out 24-7, as well as now the 300w folding and it sat on 255w all day today, and peaked at 295 with some cloud edge effect, but even then it sat on 282w for half an hour or so. And it weighs 400g less than the old 250w ones that do 200w peak. I had two of the solar blankets, both had a dead panel so i got creative and stitched 10 working cells into a line and wired them all in series with diodes and i now get 150w from it laying flat 🤣 So yeah some good some bad. But its a hobby playing with all this, camping, kayaking, 4wd'ing and stuff. If you're ever looking for someone to hang out with doing this stuff im not far from caboolture, not too far from you I believe?
Thanks a lot for your effort! Saves me time and frustration: I will be installing my new lock in a week's time!
I looked at the kings dc charger and saw a handful of wires, looked complicated. I already have a solar setup so only need dc dc charger as backup if solar has a problem or if the sun doesn’t come out for a couple days, so probably go the victron 12/30. You haven’t got the MT1?
No longer have the Mt1 mate, had to sell it before the divorce
Nice video mate.
Why do they put them in a box that is to large i bet the 300ah could fit into the 200ah box
Quality wise is it better then the kings battery
@@vaskodimoski5690 haven't had a chance to test out the slimline kings lithium battery sorry
Great set up mate. Well done 👍. One question about venting. What sort of vents have filters to keep dust out? I have a platinum camper and want to relocate the batteries into the front checker plate tool box but I’m worried about heat. I was thinking of using a computer fan for extraction and having a vent on the opposite side of the box but I need to keep dust out too. Cheers
@@jackthomson73 most caravan filter sets come with fans and filters
Barefoot on a concrete floor is unwize.
I thought they burned out or that you made them 560 amps, but it's just the obese version of the 280 Ah cells, which are fatter but have less energy. 😂
Hey mate just wondering are your 200ah battery’s the same batch ? Currently have a 300ah want to get a second not sure if I can get the same batch
All same batch, this was for a freinds build
Can it connect to french valves, which are found on bikes?
Yes comes with the attachment in the little door on front of compressor. It's extremely quick at blowing bike tyres up so I'd be careful
@@WEEKENDER4X4Thanks for your feedback. In regards to being careful due to rapid inflation. Would l be correct in saying, if you set the pressure cutoff, you won’t need to be too careful with the rapid inflation quickly over inflating a bike tyre or anything with a low air volume?
Thanks for doing this experiment. I suspect many would just throw out swollen cells. Obviously they can still be OK, if the terminals are not destroyed by the tight bus bars.
hey mate, thanks for the video. Do you know what the four pins on the actuator are? I am having issue, my driver side's actuator seems to be dead. I am trying to bench test it.
Unfortunately I'm not sure of that, I found it easiest to plug it in the door and do it with the doortrim off.
Is that Kings inverter still working well for you?
1 whole year now and absolutely killing it still. No issues
What a mess 😂
I just randomly came across this video for my late night viewing. Interesting, thank you (and sorry to hear about your losses). I was just wondering if you ever did a video on our BMS? If there's anything I can help with, please let me know. Thanks, Ruben
Hey mate, I did put your BMS's in a couple of my batteries for the off grid project videos. Will be doing updated videos soon. Great product
I have a kings 120ah, 1500w inverter running a 1150w microwave for 4 minutes at the moment and still testing.
Yea that should be fine. Well and truly. With good cable
Hey mate, thanks for the videos, fairly new to the battery game, just want to ask can a 100-120ah lithium battery run a 2000w inverter?
I would run two of them in parallel to run a 2000w inverter properly. It probably could do it but at its absolute limits if you gave it full load
Nice setup. Did you consider going 24v or 36v? What about solar charge capability? Will there be ventilation ports/fans? You also must insulate all exposed +12V connections to prevent accidental short circuits - very important.
Man I feel for you dude 😢
If you dont mind me asking? Whats a set up like that worth ?
Varies on when the batteries are on sale or not.
Hi mate compared to the 200ah and 300ah which is best one cheers greg
300ah
@@WEEKENDER4X4 I.m looking at both for my campertrailer just run fridge and lights
If only if it had 240volt terminals to connect to a rv 240 built in system
Yea the one's I've seen in vans run it from power plugs and leads into the RV system
The best thing about Kings is that they have bricks and mortar shops . This helps enormously if you have any warranty problems . Much greater piece of mind than purchasing from some eBay drop shipper at an unknown address.. Ask me how i know.😢
Yea and if you ever have issues you walk straight in and get a new one
Great set up 👍
Thanks
Does any camera works with the garmin overlander as a reverse camera or is there some specific cameras? And if i need a specific camera can you tell me which one?
Has a specific camera unfortunately. Just type into google reverse camera for Garmin overlander. You will see a wireless camera comes up. Not cheap
Hi mate I.m putting in a lithium battery in my campertrailer just to run a fridge do I need a dcdc charger with solar panel . Cheers Greg
Yes you will mate
Hey mate that jvm upgrade just doesn't sound right to me. I noticed you said you've done the springs and Tower bracing well have you considered the actual axle load limits of the patrol
Where are you, man? I need your help
@@mustafarajab4185 Brisbane North
Sorry to hear about your brother mate. Loved the vid, hope you keep making them.
I thought it was 120 max current continuous? Made me think i could only use a max of 1500w inverter?
Picked up one of these yesterday, hopefully I can find a suitable box to put it all in.
My EVE LF105 cells say that they can do 3C discharge, seems. a bit high !!
3000VA Victron couldnt run our 2200W hoist, we figured based on calulation we would need around 3700VA but tried anyay as we already have the Victron inverter. I'm wondering if something as budget as this would likey do the job - your thoughts?
@chrisbaker4x4 I would say it's the in rush current required for the initial start of the hoist when under load. To combat this you can get "soft start" ebay parts installed in line which can make you able to run almost any bigger items. Also depends on the size of your battery bank? If it's not able to sustain the voltage the inverter will immediately cut out.

@@WEEKENDER4X4 interesting thank you for pointing me in this direction. Battery is 2x Kings 100Ah LiFePO4 should be safe for this load.
Awesome as mate just subscribed to your channel 4x4 Weekender
@@merinofarmeragriculturewor4623 thanks mate appreciate it
Did you have to have the solenoid switched to locked during install and if so. How did you?
@poppinblisters8782 you can change where it goes too just plugging the wire in before install, turning ignition on and putting the car in neutral
Those specs are for the old black top batteries
When i got my 4 x 304 Ah EVE cells, i charged it first wired in series with 16A and stopped it when one cell reaches 3,6 V, reduced the current to 3A and secondly stopped when the regarding cell reaches the end voltage again. And finally i charged each cell separate with my RC charger at 10 A and all cells are now balanced and finally i did a load test for calibrating the BMS with connecting a vacuum cleaner through an inverter. I leave my battery bank now for 24h as it and tomorrow evening it is ready for all. Greetings from Vienna, Austria.
Hey bro, do you have to earth a 12v system?
@@newylyf7481 if it's just 12v no. If it's 240v floating(mobile) no. 240v fixed it's always preferable to have the inverter earthed.
@@WEEKENDER4X4 cheers bro, I don't know why so many people earth their 12v system in the back of the 4WD.
@newylyf7481 you earth it directly to the battery. Or a good body ground in the car. Sorry I thought you meant ground as in ground in ground lol
@@WEEKENDER4X4 all good haha. I meant like a ground to body or chassis on the car. So like the Victron distributor has a ground connection which I've seen people run a cable from that to the car chassis or body. Doesn't make sense to me as why it's needed.
@newylyf7481 grounding to the body isn't necessary if you have enough cable to run the whole way to the battery negative. If you're on a budget and don't have enough space for fat cables running through the interior to the battery, grounding to the body is fine. As long as your main earth coming off the battery to chassis/body is clean and appropriately sized.
So sorry mate
Stay strong brother..
Can you please show us how you made your "Soft Start" circuit that you used in this video with the blue and white wires
That's not a soft start curcuit, that's a BMS switch on or off discharge. It's on the Muller Energry 250a BMS of the lithium battery
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Your a legend mate!
For the price why not spend a little more and get double the warranty and a better brand like atm?
Sorry I'm not familiar with atm batteries?
We just bought 4 x 200ah batteries to run our off grid house. Pretty pleased with the. Only need them to last 5 years till we get a much bigger system. But for now kings is good enough
The best part is there's so many supa centres now if anything went wrong in the warranty period you'd get given a new one and then the warranty starts all over again. Can't really beat that.
How much stuff are you running in your house?
@perkypat2214 currently running 4 main LED lights in garage, all the chargers for battery tools, computer, eftpos machine, 2180w steamer I use for work on and off, plus heat gun, and also anything else that needs power in the garage. For a while I was running TV and surround sound system aswell but the solar couldn't keep up on rainy days. (This is for my off grid build video of the trailer toolbox setup)
My only concern with the 100ah is that it appears to have pouch cells inside .. where the 120ah has prismatic cells .. So I'm unsure if there would be any real differences in them .. Your imput on that would be most welcome..
Yea pouch cells have a smaller shelf life than the prismatic cells. But so far with the battery I have been testing at my mother's house it's been going strong without issues for over 6months so far. Will do capacity test on it in another 6 months (Not the kings battery) it's a gokwh battery with pouch cells. Basically same construction as the kings ones
